Welcome, Sweet friends. Do join my on the porch. We can listen to the sweet melody of the chirping birds, watch the butterflies flutter and admire the flowers in bloom. Aaah Spring time is a a wonderful time of the year. In celebration of this season, I stitched a new house in soft greens, and it even has a porch .
As I worked on this piece, I would reminisce back to the good ole' days when I was a child and would visit my grandparents in the evenings.
Most often you would find my Papa and Nanny on the porch of their old farmhouse. Papa would watch the cows in the field as Nanny chatted away telling about the "goings on" of the day.
| Spring Farmhouse which is modeled after my Nanny's home and Spring on the Farm |
Come springtime, Nanny would plant petunias in the concrete planters which lined the long front porch and front steps. Us youngins' would jump off the porch which stood tall and would scamper to the mountain stone sidewalk to pick daffodils which lined the sidewalk. We would soon take our bouquets to Nanny . She would lovingly place them in a water filled mason jar and sit them on the farmhouse table. Such sweet memories.
The Signs of Spring house does not have a pasture with cows nearby , but there are sweet ewes grazing in the front yard. I hope they do not get into the flower gardens.
"Signs of Spring" was stitched on 14 coffee/tea dyed Aida using 13 DMC floss colors which included: 356, 436, 610, 730, 829, 840, 918, 924, 926, 3013, 3021, 3363, Blanc

Hugs and Stitches!!!!🤗🧵❤
Dedicated to my baby sister, Amy. Love and miss you, Amo.

I'm super, super crazy about the Signs of Spring House and its sister design. Spring has been my favorite season for more years than I can count. Unfortunately living on the Surface of the Suns means either Spring is non existent or doesn't last very long. Big Sigh!!! My life has been consumed by x-stitching (stitching like my hair is on fire LOL). It's been quite a while since I've spent time with my sewing machine. I believe it might be time to make a small quilt or two. Would you agree? Enjoy your stitching and/or quilting. More get well healing thoughts for your family member. Big Squeezy Hugs, DarleneJ

ReplyDeleteI do have good memories of visit my grandma's house - It was the sweetest little white house. One bedroom, a very tiny kitchen, and a bathroom that had the rule.."if it's yellow..." LOL! Still not sure why but this was before the regulations about that kind of thing for out in the country.
Have a great day...Blessings!
Your new Signs of Spring house is exactly that. Looks like a perfect spring day. And since I stitched The Ewe House, I will be stitching this new one to put them together. Have a great day. And thanks again for this new house. K from NY

That is a pretty little soft green house, and I love the porch! Hope you have a nice spring-y weekend Melisa.
ReplyDeleteI can remember everyone sitting out on the porch during the summer while us kids played in the yard at my grandmother's. We jumped off the porch too, though mom told us not too. Your stitchery captures those memories really well. Hope you can enjoy a bit more spring, it seems we are headed right into summer.
ReplyDeleteI had severe symptoms of ALS from shortness of breath, balance problems, couldn't walk without a walker or a power chair, i had difficulty swallowing and fatigue. I was given medications which helped but only for a short burst of time, so I decided to try alternative measures and began on ALS herbal treatment from a herbal centre, It has made a tremendous difference for me. Wonderful memories, Melisa--I used to sit with my Grand-mere and Grand-pere on their front porch in the evenings, too--she would be crocheting and he would be smoking his pipe to keep the bugs at bay. I loved sitting on their comfy glider and just woolgathering and probably drinking her homemade lemonade...... hugs, Julierose
