Scrapping Away

I am doing a lot of scrapping!

Cutting strips.

Sewing strips

Reds, Whites and Blues all ready to be pieced.

It is Scrappy Happy Flag time! Welcome, y'all.

Now see I told you- I am still not done with patriotic  projects. 😀

Ten more Scrappy Happy Flags added to  my other happy blocks.

Alycia's " The Ribbon " QOV quilt along begins today. Last week she shared the cutting instructions. Click here   to visit Alycia's introduction to the QAL.  Thank you, Alycia for offering this to us. 🤗

My fabrics are all picked. I am going all the way scrappy.
2" strips waiting and ready. More cutting still be done.
Hmmm what else is going on? 🤔Well...

Straight off my finishing table is  Patriotic Mini Sampler

I took some snippets  of fabric and created a little bow to attach to the corner edge. All done and ready for next year.

Well that is what is going on in the holler on this fine summer's day.

What are you up to?

 As Always,

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Melisa

Thank you for the sweet visit.

Hugs and Stitches!!!!🤗🧵❤

Dedicated to my baby sister, Amy. I miss you more and more each day. Love and miss you, Amo.

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Do you believe in signs? The other day when I was cutting fabrics for Alycia's QAL. I came up on some scrap fabrics that I purchased at a yard sale. As I was cutting them into strips . I spotted my sister, Amy's, nickname- "Amo" . I didn't know what "Amo te" meant so I went to Google translate and typed it in. Immediately, it popped up "I love you. " I started crying. Amo often sends me signs. This one was extra special . Do look for signs from your loved ones; you will find them.

I am joining these lovely ladies' link parties. I hope you check them out; they always have so many wonderful projects going on and provide the opportunity for other needleworkers to meet.

    1. LOL what's another project hurt. Hee! Hee! It doesn't take long for me to get side tracked when I enter the quilt room- soon I am chasing squirrels all over the place. It sounds like you and me like to have the same kind of dreams. LOL Have a great evening, Darlene. I am cutting fabric tonight and may get in more sewing time tomorrow. Big hugs from the holler.

  2. I DO believe in signs and the beautiful sign Amy sent you almost made me cry. Just perfect! ❤️

I hardly ever see cardinals in our yard and last year while I was napping during a phase of grief, my husband was outside and noticed a cardinal sitting in the bush right outside our bedroom window ❤️ It's like my sis was checking in on me 🥰

Have a wonderful day Melisa! 🤗

  8. Thank you for the link for the QAL. I have some red, white and blue fabric that I've been itching to use on an easy pattern. I have a friend in FL that takes patriotic flimsies for donations from different people, machine quilts them, and then gives them to veterans - not QOV but along the same lines. Love your patriotic sampler - will be adding that to the other ones.
Have a blessed day - oh and love the "sign" - yes, I do believe in signs from Heaven. :-)

  11. Your message from Amy gave me goosebumps. I think I would keep that little piece of fabric and treasure it. Alysia's QAL is such a great pattern. Thank you for linking to it. Love your little flags. They always make me smile. Your finish with the little bow is perfect. That fuchsia gladiola is beautiful. My dad loved them and I remember him taking them out every year and replanting again every Spring. They aren't hardy enough where we live to winter over. They put on quite a display when they bloom, don't they?

    1. Oh Ginny, I was stunned when I saw the piece of fabric. I have been digging in the bag of scraps from the yard sale looking for more. I would love to know who the designer was and where it was purchased, but I am sure it is no longer in production. That gladiola was the prettiest in bloom this year. Not all of mine came up and for the life of me I could not find my stakes to keep them upright. But they do put on quite a show when in bloom. I think I may get more bulbs for next year . Have a great evening. Hugs.

  12. good morning sweet Melisa. how are you this glorious day?
i just highlighted and made a print of your flag quilt project. i love it. i have lots of red and i am a big collector of blue because that is my favorite color. lately i have become very partial to red as well. i will be making this quilt for sure. it can be one of my leader and ender projects. it will go along with the four patch fun as a leader and ender. i see that you are working on bonnie hunter's quilt as well. i love that quilt. i love your flag quilt. i love all quilts. quilts, no matter what color way, are all beautiful. so creative and unique. my kids and grandkids said no more quilts. i think they have about 20 each. i'll now work on giving to nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, charity, and to whomever else may want one. haha quilts are a must in my home. i have them everywhere. walls, couches, chairs, beds, you name it. i bet your home is full of quilts and cross stitch pieces as well.
i got my basil planted in the tomato plants last evening. the basil is still standing this morning so that is a positive sign. i'll go out and check the tomato leaves in a little bit. probably give a good look over this evening when i water them.
it's major housecleaning day around here today. ugh!!! not my favorite day. everything gets washed, scrubbed and cleaned. i still need to get to the cupboard cabinet doors, but that is a task for another day!
have a wonderful day my sweet, sweet friend. you are the best!!! you offer so much to everyone. you're an angel on earth.
blessings and love are coming your way Melisa. make it a magical memory making day.

    1. Good evening, sweet Debra. You always bring the brighten my day and you certainly uplifted me when I needed it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Oh, blue is one of my favorite colors too. Here lately all I have wanted to do is work on red and blue quilts. Maybe it is a phase I am in. LOL. Yes, my house is the same. Quilts, here there and everywhere. LOL. They just make me happy. I think we are 2 peas in a pod don't you? Woo Hoo on the basil. When I 1st planted mine, it looked a bit weepy . After my 1st picking of a few leaves, it perked right up. I have been enjoying it in soups along with some maters. I meant to clean my house today, but I was having so much fun quilting that I just could not stop. I haven't been out all week so tomorrow I will be going to the store and perhaps out to eat- maybe. Now you don't work too hard. You have quilting to do. Hee! Hee! It is a whole lot more exciting :) I wish you a wonderful day . Big bear hugs from the holler. Love ya'

I love your scrappy sewing, too - such fun scraps to cut up and make into the little flag blocks. My scrappy flag tablerunner that I made from your blocks last summer is on the table right now.
