Summer Farmhouse Freebie

"Over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house we go!"

Good morning and Happy Saturday , ya'll!  Nope, this is not a Thanksgiving post  😃, but it is a trip to grandma's . So welcome. We are going to jump in the car and head 1 mile down the road to my Nanny's old house.  Come on!

So what would be on the dinner table at my Nanny's if she was still here? Of course, pinto beans, cornbread and turnip greens. Dinner would be promptly be ready by 10:00 a.m.

She would be up and cooking breakfast by 4:00-4:30ish. Yum! Bacon, eggs and dark gravy for the morning meal.   Nanny and Pa Pa were early risers on the farm.  And you know what? I still like to have my dinner early😀  just like Nanny did.

Well earlier this week, I shared Summer on the Farm which showcased Papa's big red barn and summertime hay baling.
Click here if you missed that post.  That post tells how I finished these pieces too.

Today I am going to share Summer Farmhouse. This stitch is similar to the Spring Farmhouse, but the activities going on has changed. ( Ya'll know I am stitching my childhood in these series . Lol😄)

The same old farmhouse is there. Nanny's  house was built in the 1930's . It caught on fire in the 1940's and 1980's, but it is still standing. Nanny's house has a low pitched roof just like this house. I can even reach up and touch the ceiling with my hand in the bedrooms.

Behind Nanny's house was a clothesline. It seemed like she was doing laundry just about everyday except on Sundays.  She would wait until 12:01 a.m Monday to begin her next load. lol.

In front of the house is Daddy's red truck filled with a load of hay . He will be putting it in one of the barns soon.

Bees skeps, sunflowers, a couple of sheep and an old tire swing round out the visit to Nanny's.  Nanny and Papa never had any sheep ,but boy, how I wish they had.

If you are interested in this little stitch , just check out the pdfs below . Since I am not a designer, please check out my little disclaimer too.

Many of you know , but I always like to leave this little disclaimer.

I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding that I  have to put each page on separate pdf downloads because of the devices I use. I apologize for that.  And I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and stitching my little designs.

I am so thrilled that you joined me as we visited Nanny's  through my stitching today . It was so fun to reminisce . I hope you have a very blessed day and please stop back by soon for the 3rd in the Summer series- The Pasture. As always...
Happy stitching, ya'll

  1. Oh I can just feel the memories from Grandma’s house. What a sweet post! I remember when there were a lot of things people wouldn’t do on a Sunday. The world has changed so much, but thankfully, God hasn’t changed. ❤️ Love your sweet little farm houses!

  4. Hi Melisa, question for you. I’m confused. Is the instruction page correct for the Summer Farmhouse. Shouldn’t it be for the Summer Farmhouse. Are the colors the same. Thanks You are awesome

    1. The same thing happened to me so I went back and checked the Spring Farmhouse instruction page and compared the colors. Looks like the title on the Summer Farmhouse page just needs to be changed as the colors are in fact different from the Spring one and in line with the design. Quality control! :)

  10. Thank you for the new stitch of the Farmhouse, I like the addition of the bee skep and the flag and sweet lambs. It does remind me of my favorite aunt and uncles farmhouse in Minnesota. I would need to add a horse to the barn scene, tho. Have a wonderful weekend filled with family and love. Stitch whatever you love!

    1. Aah thank you so much, Mary. How sweet that it is similar to your aunt's farmhouse. A horse would be a great addition. We have 2 donkeys that live out there now not to mention the cows. Lol. Happy stitching
