Hello, Sweet friends . Around and Around we go! I have been working on my Roundabout quilt.
My newest embroidery block is called "A Squirrely Roundabout"- just a sweet squirrel gathering an acorn for its winter stash.

I used the backstitch using 2 strands of floss. For the squirrel's eye and nose, the satin stitch was used.

DeleteMelisa, you do such a lovely job embroidering with DMC floss--how in the world do you keep the two or three strands from getting all tangles, uneven and knotted??? I love its sheen, but rarely use it because i cannot control it!! (aaargh!!) Lovely roundabouts--hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteAaw Julierose, thank you so much for the kind words. Oh, I hear you on the struggles with the floss. Sometimes I run my floss through beeswax to tame those tangles. As I get older, my embroidery is not what it used to be. LOL, But I do enjoy the process . Seeing your beautiful work and creativity always gives me inspiration. Have a blessed day. Warm hugs.
DeleteI love your roundabouts, Melisa! Each new one is so appealing and the way you are surrounding thenpm with the patchwork squares is so fun. I want to stitch every one - saving for a "someday" project. Thanks for sharing those with us!
ReplyDeleteI am so touched that you are saving these little doodles for a later project, Diann. I am having a ball working on them. I am still debating on whether to enlarge the blocks but I still have a few months to stew on it. Thank you for the sweet visit and have a great day. Hugs.

ReplyDeleteAaw Linda, you are so very kind. I enjoy creating little doodles and using them in my quilts. We have a lot of squirrels in our area so I just had to have one in my quilt. LOL. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteMelisa, you are so talented and creative. The diversity of all your different projects is amazing. Every block in the Roundabout quilt is perfect with each other block. They have the same “flavor”. By that I mean the same feel, the similar style. Nothing is off or seems out of place. I’m in awe of your work. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteAaw Gail thank you from the bottom of my heart. I had originally planned to make each roundabout into monthly small quilts, but once I framed one of the blocks in those cheerful fabrics, I wanted all of the blocks in one quilt. I enjoy creating these little doodles. I have oodles of notebooks with drawings that I want to put in my quilts someday. Thank you for uplifting my spirits. You are always so kind and supportive and I appreciate that so much. Have a wonderful evening, sweet friend. Hugs.
DeleteYour roundabout quilt looks so beautiful, dear Melisa!

ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I am too, Brenda or at least for the temps to drop a few degrees. LOL. Thank you so much on my newest little stitch. He was a fun fella to work on now to finish the next block. Have a happy day in the quilt room. Hugs
DeleteThank you for the newest stitch. He's quite the handsome little fella with his jacket and all. The quilt is looking sooo nice. There must be a nip in the air to need a jacket. It has cooled down considerably here. We hit Sept. and the heat button was shut off. We've had rain the last two days, too and that has been heaven.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Ginny you are so lucky! It is as hot as pickled peppers here and dry as a bone. I think it is supposed to reach 100 again by the weekend. But I can dream of cooler weather with Mr. Squirrel. LOL . He was a fun stitch. Thank you so much for the sweet visit. Enjoy your day in the quilt room. Hugs.
