I stomp my feet and yell at the top of my lungs! "No I refuse an intervention!" Hee! Hee!
Good morning y'all and Happy Tuesday . Are you wondering what I am being so obstinate about? ππ Well, you know that I went thrifting the other day. And guess what I came home with?
Yep! Another cookie jar and bean pot! I know. I know. Some of you are saying , "Girl, what's up with you and cookie jars. " Hmmm I just don't know. I just love them especially if they are old. And in my defense, my Granny got me hooked on bean pots. Love my Granny! ❤❤❤
Anywhoo, I am as happy as a lark singing on a summer's day. Of course, a couple of pitchers came home with me too.
In celebration of my thrifty find, I hung up one of my crock cross stitches that I purchased years ago. It matches my bean pot doesn't it.
So now down to the nitty gritty. What am I working on today.
Over the last few months while camping, I have been working on my hexie flowers. I have one more to piece, and then I will be ready to applique them . Now I just have to choose a background fabric for them.
Hmmm what else can I work on? Another house is in the works. Of course I am putting in the garden before the construction of the dwelling begins. πEvery house needs a pumpkin patch doesn't it?
 |
Harvest Moon Saltbox in the works. |
 |
The hoop has been moved in my Otis Payne Bow Tie. |
Alrighty, y'all I better get off here. I got cookies to bake and beans to cook . Gotta make those thrifty finds useful. Don't I?
Hmmm , Ok, you caught me! I came home with another cookie jar that I failed to mention earlier.π Or is this a biscuit jar?π Either way, let's just keep it between us though .Shall we? Hee Hee!
Now you have a beautiful day!

ReplyDeleteLol that is what I say, Annelies. The cookie jars bring me pleasure so why not. Thank you for the sweet visit. Have a wonderful day. Hugs.
DeleteHuhu, lovely finds. Annelies is right. If it makes you happy, why not. I have my fun finding old Espresso cups.
ReplyDeleteHexies and quilt look pretty.
Have a sunny day,
Gabi
Isn't it fun to collect little things that bring you pleasure? Hmm I don't think I see old Espresso cups in my area that often. I am going to start paying closer attention. I bet you have a wonderful collection, Gabi. Thank you for the sweet Tuesday visit. Hugs.
DeleteROFLOL!!! I'm seriously ROFLOL because I dare anyone to try to do an intervention. Be afraid, be very afraid. teehee I think your cookie jars are cute and adorable. I have a pile of completed hexies waiting on the sidelines to be appliqued. I've spent the past couple of days cross stitching and prepping an old hand applique project that I completely forgot about. I didn't realize how much I've missed playing with hand applique. Happy, happy Tuesday my sweet friend. Big, big hugs, DarleneJ
ReplyDeleteEeeh you have been busy, busy, busy, dear Darlene! While here I have been a big ole' slump these last few days. LOL. I did not get a lot accomplished this weekend, but a little here and there. I have lots of projects sitting about just begging me to pick them up though. LOL no intervention for my cookie jar obsession- no indeed. Hee! Hee! And can you believe not a one holds a cookie. Oh well, they are cute nonetheless. Ok, Miss Darlene- I have got to get going on some projects myself. You are putting a fire in my belly. Happy happy Tuesday. Warm summertime hugs.
Bonne journΓ©e
ReplyDeleteOh dear Aline, I have been trying to contain myself when I see a new cookie jar. I only purchase them if they are old and cheap here lately. Like you my home is overflowing with treasures as well, but they do bring joy. Oooh I bet your crocheted decorations are just beautiful. I do admire crocheted and knitted pieces so much. I aspire to become better at crocheting myself. It is a slow journey for me. Enjoy the rest of the week working on your lovelies. Hugs.
DeleteGood morning dear Melisa, so happy to see a new post! π I agree with the other ladies, if the jars make you happy, why the heck not! π₯° I think we all have things we can't have enough of.
ReplyDeleteYour Harvest Moon stitch looks beautiful so far, I can't wait to see it completed and then stitch it myself πππ I'm almost done with your blue house. π
Have a fantastic day! Hugs from Maine! π€

Happy Happy Tuesday, Alex. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I am not sure why I love cookie jars, but they twang my heart! But you know what- hubby and the kiddos never liked the cookies to be in a cookie jar. I am not sure why. LOL. But that is ok I can store other things in them . Eeeh , I am so excited you are almost done with the Blue House. I hope you enjoyed every stitch. I hope to finish Harvest Moon soon. Have a beautiful evening. Hugs.
DeleteI'm always thrilled with your finds, Melisa! It's impossible to resist these cookie jars. And the hexagons seem ideal, cheerful, and colorful.
ReplyDeleteHugs from Spain
Oh thank you so much, dear Isabel. I have slowed down on thrifting this year, because to be honest I do not need a thing. But I could not resist this lot of jars and pitchers. I hope to move these little Hexies along into blocks very soon. Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteGood Morning! At least for me - kitty got us up early with yowling - her food bowl was covered with a dinette cushion. The horror of it all! LOL! Love your hexies. Just read a post by Jo at Jo's Country Junction about her hexie project. Your bean pots are so cute - My grammie had one as a door stop at her house. Have a great day! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteOh how funny, Donna. I bet Miss Kitty was none too happy. I hope she filled her belly full. When I got out to my sister's, her kitties come and yowl and whine for me to hurry up and fill their dish. They get quite perturbed if I take too long getting to the task at hand. They are little divas for sure. I will have to read Jo's post- thanks for the heads up on it. I had to smile when you said your grammie used a bean pot for a doorstop. That is what I do with one of mine. Hugs and Blessings.
DeleteLove seeing all your thrifting finds. Can hardly wait to see the finished harvest moon salt box. Fall my favorite season π Enjoy the day K from NY
ReplyDeleteAaaw thank you so much, K. I have slowed down on thrifting , but I was thrilled to pieces to get this lot of old crockery. I am looking forward to finishing and sharing Harvest Moon . I think it is going to be a cutie- well at least I hope so. Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteI like your thrifty finds! And that biscuit jar is beautiful. Looking forward to your harvest moon saltbox.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Linda. I wish the photo did the biscuit jar justice. It is a big one. I had to ask the lady twice about the price- just 2 bucks. Can't beat that with a stick can you? Hope you had a lovely day and it was not too hot. Hugs.
DeleteYour projects are all looking fabulous, Melisa. Can't wait to see your hexies turned into flowers!
ReplyDeleteAaaw thank you so much, Robin. I am looking forward to appliqueing them. This is the first large hexie project that I have done so I am interested to see how it goes. Hugs and Blessings.
DeleteYou find the best stuff!!
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Penny. I think I was just having a lucky day. We tried to hit the yard sales early so that paid off. Hugs and Blessings.
DeleteOh oh your new pumpkin stitching has me intrigued!!
ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much, Vicki. I am anxious to finish this one. I think it is going to look cute- at least I hope so. It has really got me in the fall mood. Have a wonderful day. Hugs.
DeleteGreat bean pot find for your collection [more than 2 of anything is a "collection" in my book ;))) ]
ReplyDeleteYour hexie flowers are really looking pretty--I have my KF ones in a little pouch and haven't as yet begun to sew them over the freezer paper templates I am using...they are a relaxing project...
only 52 here this morning--shades of Autumn for sure!!
Hugs, Julierose
P.S. Comments on my blog have been going to spam for some reason??!!
Oooh it sounds so nice that the weather is starting to cool down a bit.Sounds like a good time to enjoy some time out on the deck stitching away. These Hexies have taken me awhile to piece, but I do think I am about ready to applique them if I do not start chasing a squirrel. Oh how frustrating on the comments. I hate it when blogger does things like that. Mine still go to no reply . I hope you are able to figure it out. I have about given up on mine. LOL. Enjoy the cool crisp mornings, Julierose and Happy quilting. Hugs.
DeleteThose hexie flowers are so pretty. I love the fabrics. You find more treasure than any pirate I've ever heard of!
ReplyDeleteLOL thank you for the sweet giggles, Jeanna. I do feel like a pirate when I get vintage items dirt cheap. Hee! Hee! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I have been thinking about you as the storms are headed up the coast. I am not sure if you will be affected or not , but do stay safe. Hugs.
DeleteThank you, sweetie. We are in western north carolina, away from the coast. Praying for the Outer Banks and the rest of eastern Carolinas.
Deletegood morning sweet Melisa.
ReplyDeletei would have grabbed up the cookies jars and the bean pot, too. i love beans. not too big on cookies, but if i must it's a snickerdoodle. they are my absolute favorite and it is so hard to find a good snickerdoodle cookie. we have a fast food yogurt place near us, Yogurt Barn, and during the holidays they sell a fantastic snickerdoodle yogurt. ah yes, fill my cup to the brim please.
i hope your adventures were awesome. it sure looks like it was. how was the tractor pull? did you get muddy? ha - i can just see the image of you and Mr. Pinker in front of a tractor pulling that large cable. that would be a definite site, wouldn't it? hehehehehehe
i am so looking forward to your harvest moon saltbox. it looks very beautiful up to this point. i know the finished piece is going to be a beauty. all of your projects are beauties. i love everyone of them. you are a very creative and talented young lady. don't ever stop - please!!!
Melisa i hope you have a very lovely day. make some magical moments and get out to the thrift shop - i know there is a cookie jar and bean pot out there calling your name.
blessings and love are coming your way. the heat is starting up here again today. i hope you are finding a little bit of relief.
hugs.
Debra Broyles
Good evening, sweet Debra. I hope your Tuesday was filled with lots of joy and Quilty goodness. Oooh snickerdoodle yogurt! That sounds delightful! I would definitely want my cup filled to the brim as well. I have been craving some sweets, but alas I have been staying good and have just enjoyed sweet slices of watermelon these last few days. Well we did not get to go to the tractor pull- long story on that . But lol I had to laugh of the image of me and Mr. Pinker pulling a tractor- now that would be a site for sore eyes. Hee! Hee! This week is going to be a slow and uneventful one with me just hanging at home. I do need to put a fire under my feet and get to work at my sewing machine. I am hoping next week to go on another thrifting adventure, but we shall see. Well, dear Debra, I will let you go. Please do stay cool and out of the heat. I only went outside in short spurts today; it was another scorcher. Love and hugs.
DeleteYou have a beautiful day too!
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, dear Betty and I hope your day was just as beautiful. Hopefully, it is starting to cool down in your neck of the woods. It is still hot here, but I know it will cool down soon. Hugs and Blessings.
DeleteI love all your thrifty finds, Melisa! I especially love that crystal cookie jar. My great aunt had one when I was growing up very similar and she always kept peppermints in it! I love it. Wish I had some of her beautiful antiques but alas, someone else got them. Cute hexies and great on moving the hoop on Otis Payne's Bow Tie Quilt! Have an awesome week my friend. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteAaah it warms my heart that the crystal cookie jar brought back such fond memories especially of your great aunt. I bet you have many wonderful memories of getting treats out of the jar. My Nanny always kept a candy dish with treats in it for us youngins so I do the same for my grandsons and nephews. I hope they will have memories like that. Thank you for the sweet visit and for making me smile. Hugs.
DeleteSuch great finds. . .that biscuit jar has such an interesting design! I hope you find lots of time in the coming days to work on your "hand" projects that involved needle and thread!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteI was thrilled to pieces to find the biscuit jar. The photo does not do it justice because it is big and so beautiful. I have never seen one that size. I am hoping to be able to sit down and do some serious sewing tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Happy quilting, Terry. Hugs.

Dianet de parchesdeamor
Good evening, sweet Dianet. I hope you are doing well and are having a lovely start to your week. Oh, I do love finding treasures of days gone by . They remind me so much of my grandmothers and you are so right. There is nothing like grandma's kitchen. I loved both of my grandmas and they were amazing cooks for sure. If only to be young again, having sleepovers at their homes. Eeeh I am excited for fall stitching! I am looking forward to finishing the new house very soon. Thank you for the sweet visit, Dianet. You always brighten my day. Hugs.
DeleteI think your cookie jars and bean pots are fun! And, double fun that you have a cross-stitch piece to match, too. Your hexie flowers are so sweet - love their red dotted centers! Enjoy your stitching today, Melisa!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Diann. I bought 2 matching crock cross stitch pieces years ago. They are always fun to bring out for the summer/ fall season. I should display them with the crocks sometime. I forgot to mention that you inspired me on the hexie flowers. I just loved your quilt that you worked on a couple of years ago. Have a fabulous day. Hugs.
DeleteCute little pots, and I love your matching embiodery! I love your scissors collection too ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your pretty hexie flowers and other WIP, and linking up.
Aaah thank you so much, Frederique. I was thrilled to find these little crocks at a thrifty price. I think they will look lovely to display for the fall season. I wish you a wonderful week and Happy quilting . Hugs.
DeleteMy down fall is crocks and and jugs :) I love your bean pots and cookie jars! Your hexi's and perfect.... the Hall Jewel Tea is about to come out for fall and I spotted your piece in the header :) Have a great week (nwpaintedlady)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Sharon! Mine too. I just have a few though. They are so expensive around here. I bet you have a wonderful collection. . Oooh your Hall Jewel Tea will be perfect for fall . Aaw that make me smile that you noticed my piece in the header. I bought that for less than a dollar the other day. I couldn't pass it up. I have one more piece and that is the pitcher, but it is in the china cabinet. Don't you just love the older pottery and china? Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteBelieve it or not, I've never owned a cookie jar!
ReplyDeleteAwww . Well nothing wrong with that. I am not sure why I like cookie jars. Hubby and my girls never wanted me to store cookies in them . LOL. Thank you for the sweet visit, Jenny.
DeleteYes, we all love cookie jars!!! Especially cookie jars that are full!!! They're super cute! And great job on the hexies! I love sewing the fabric around the paper on hexies but I'm not as good putting them all together!?!
ReplyDeleteCookie jars can be a little addictive to collect especially the older ones. Some have such character. Well this is the 1st big Hexie project for me so I am anxious to see how the applique goes as I start removing the papers. I have my fingers crossed it will go well. Thank you for the sweet visit, Nancy. Hugs.
DeleteLove your new finds, I would love to have one of those cookie jars! But I've never seen one of that kind, I'll have to keep an eye and see if one day I have a happy encounter with one. Your work is looking wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Aaw thank you so much, Diana. It was just pure luck that I ran upon this lot of jars and crocks at a yard sale. I do wish you the best of luck of finding one. The older ones are good and strong. Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteThe hexie flowers are so bright and cheerful - I can’t wait to see the finished project. Those pumpkins on the new fall saltbox design are adorable. You are so creative. The cookie jar, biscuit jar, and bean pot are great finds. Enjoy them. It is fun and exciting to add to our collections - I have pitchers. Many of them belonged to a family member including my mother, grandmother, great grandmother and an aunt. My co-conspirators (my daughters) and I have added to the collection. Have a great day. Alicia
ReplyDeleteAaah you are so very lucky to have your family's pitcher collection. What a treasure ! And I love that you have co-conspirators to help add to your collection- that makes collecting even more fun and what sweet memories are being made. I wish my girls enjoyed thrifting and collecting- maybe one day. Thank you for the sweet visit, Alicia. I hope that I will finish the new saltbox very soon. Have a blessed and beautiful day. Hugs.
DeleteSo many pretties! Your bean pot collection is growing and the stitched picture is the perfect backdrop to display them with. I love the cut glass biscuit jar. I have couple of them in my bathroom for cotton balls and Q tips. The hexie flowers are so bright and happy. They will be beautiful set into a top. Otis is coming along great. Looking forward to seeing the new pumpkin stitch completed. Your curly stems make me smile.
ReplyDeleteWho in their right mind would ever turn down a cookie jar (especially if it was full)? So many pretty projects to go with your pretty thrift finds. Love it! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.inquiringquilter.com/questions/2025/08/20/wednesday-wait-loss-446
Such fun thrift finds. Your pumpkin garden is looking good, can't wait to see the house that goes with it.
ReplyDeleteMelissa your thrift store treasures always make me smile or even giggle a bit! If I had the space I’d collect things too. The only thing I’ve allowed myself to collect is sewing machines. I work them very hard so need to have at least two functioning backups π³. Love your hexies and it’s fun to see the progress you are making on your handquilting and stitchery projects. thank you for sharing on ToDo Tuesday.
