Hello, Sunshine and welcome from the vast wide yonder. Two posts in a day? Aaah why not!
Happy Friday, y'all ! Are you ready for a fantastic weekend? I sure am. I have not made any concrete plans yet, but I am sure I can find something to get into. š
The other day Mr. Pinker and I went hiking. Do you see our side by side in the photo below? Maybe not for it is a teeny tiny spot. On that particular day, I had a burst of energy and walked the ridge almost to the top of a mountain.
Oh bother, there was dust on debris on the camera lens. I am sorry about that. It was a blustery day. š¬š¬š¬

I have been on a mission to find a perfect saguaro in our camping area. They have been few and far between in my neck of the desert, but I did find this magnificent one.
And the base was just perfect to use as a design wall, Hee! Hee. Earlier at camp, I pieced four pretty in pink blocks for Angela's Rainbow Scrap Challenge.
Most of the saguaros here look like this poor fella. Windblown, chewed on and holey. Hmm, what tales this cactus could tell if it could only speak. ššµšµšµ
Anywhoo, The center square in my block is 6" finished and is framed with 3" finished squares. I was going to call this quilt "Here We Go Again", but I am thinking of adding some applique to the center. If so, I will change the name. We shall see.
Being in this dry environment has my skin feeling as dry as a lizard. The other day, I spotted the Dove body scrub with pomegranate and Shea butter in the grocery store. I have never tried it before . Have you? I must say it smells heavenly, and look -- it is in a little pink container- just perfect for PINK FRIDAY.
I am still plugging away on Lori Holt's "Home for the Holiday Sampler, which was a sweet gift from my dear friend, Joan. Hi, Joan! I am loving this sampler. š Thank you!
I am stitching it on 14 count coffee/ tea dyed Aida. Right now I am focused on stitching the red letters.
Well Sweeties, I hope I have not chatted your ears off. I guess I better run. Have a pinkalicious day and I hope it is filled with adventures and mischief. Love ya!

We have seen a lot of Gambel's quail this trip. They are as cute as a button!. Look at this little fella! |
As Always,
Happy Stitching and Quilting, y'all
Melisa
Thank you for the sweet visit.

It's so interesting to see pictures of your desert landscape, and that huge cactus. And that wonderful sunset photo foo.
ReplyDeleteI love our regal and very tall saguaros. In the spring there's a group that make me snicker and giggle. They usually have small flowers at the very top and they remind me of pin curls my mother in law would make with her hair every night before bed. LOL Holey Moley Mz Melisa you packed a delight bag of wonderful projects. Busy hands, happy heart!!! Have a wonderful day!!! Darlene J
ReplyDeleteA wonderful landscape

Oh, that poor saguaro! And to think it is still alive after all of the trials its had. The little quail is such a pretty bird. Do you &/or Mr. Pinker have a bird sighting book? I can't remember the proper name that Birders call them but I think you know what I mean. With your travels and your photography, it would be a great thing. Another gorgeous sunset photo. So lad you are enjoying your winter get-a-way.
ReplyDeleteYour pink blocks are pretty against the desert tan, Melisa! I love to see the saguaros. When we used to drive down to my folks' place in Phoenix when our kids were growing up, we would have a contest to see who spotted the first saguaro. That always meant we were almost there! Hope you're having a great trip!
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty pink blocks on the cactus! Wow, that poor cactus with all the holes. Looks like you are having a grand time!
ReplyDeleteHow funny that you used a cactus as a design board - lol! Looks like you are having fun - enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely find the most unique design walls! Very pretty in pink blocks. Happy hiking and stitching (that's a very good combo of activities).
ReplyDeleteLove your pink blocks, Melisa!! And speaking of cacti--i still have one that refuses to bloom--just a few teeny tiny buds...maybe there's hope yet!! The Saguaros are so amazing!! What a vastly different landscape you are visiting...thanks for the photos...enjoy hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeletePoor Saguaro. We have seen a few of the quail here too. Oh yes my skin looks like an alligator!! Let us know if that product works for you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice post! I love all the Southwest photos, but my favorite is the cactus as a design wall!
ReplyDeleteOh, that saguaro quilts-in-the wild photo!!! Haha!!! The best!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your pink blocks - and how fun to take a photo of them on the cactus! You live in an amazing area of the world... Thanks for joining in on Home Matters Linky Party! I will be featuring your post this week! #HomeMattersParty xx
