Earlier this week , I rummaged through my fabrics and found 4 lovely fabrics to use for Block #1 in the Atlanta Garden Quilt which is a free QAL with Barbara Brackman of Civil War Quilts blog.
This block was a super easy one to piece and so enjoyable.
Barbara gave an "Introduction to the Atlanta Garden BOM" in her December 21, 2022 post along with information on the alternate blocks and yardage. Each month on the 2nd Wednesday, Barbara will release a new block and in March she will begin a applique BOM. How exciting!!!
My shoo fly blocks have increased by 21 blocks. These are for Kathleen Tracy's Shoo Fly Quilt Along.
I think I have enough to create a mini quilt for the month , but I will be making more this next week.
There is always something fun going on in the quilting and stitching communities. Isn't there?
Yesterday was Farmhouse Friday and I failed to show you what I was working on .
This is my Granny's log cabin . She didn't live on a farm , but it was more like a little mountain homestead with an apple orchard and lots of grape vines .
Well , sweeties, I have the grandbabies' ball games to head to and then a bit of shopping will round out my day. Hopefully, by the evening I will be able to sit down and sew a bit. I hope you have the chance to do something you enjoy today. Have a fabulous weekend and...
As Always...
Happy quilting and stitching, ya'll
Melisa

ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Tammy. It has been a very relaxing and enjoyable hobby for me over the years, but I must confess I am not too precise either. Lol., but I do enjoy it. Have a wonderful week, dear and thank you for the sweet visit.
DeleteThose Shoo Fly blocks are just so pretty, I love the blue one with the colors reversed. It looks like an entirely new block!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how the blocks look different by just changing where the colors are? I hope to add to my shoo fly collection this week with more blocks. They are so quick to piece up and look so stinking cute. Have a great week and thank you for the kind words and sweet visit, dear.

DeleteBoy, you have been a busy gal! I sure don't need more projects to start but the BB BOM is very tempting! Your block is lovely. The Shoo Fly blocks are so cute and at the rate you are making them, you will have a good size quilt in no time. The Granny log cabin stitch coming along very nicely and I look forward to the finish! You are so good to share your talents with us.
ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much, Ginny. I am like you - I do not need another project, but Lol I keep piling them on. I just have a hard time resisting. Have a great week, dear.
DeleteOh, so many little blocks already, Melisa! You are one quick seamstress! Those are so cute and will make a perfect mini-quilt. Love the little log cabin piece you are creating, too. I'm sure I would have loved your Granny's home--I always wanted to live on top of a mountain :) Enjoy your day ♥
ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much, Carol. The shoo fly blocks are piecing up quickly and are such a relaxing project. I am in high hopes to complete more this week. Granny's home was indeed very special . Happy stitching.
DeleteI LOVE your log cabin stitch! Can’t wait to see it finished. I’ll have to stitch it. I just finished your Winter Saltbox, your sweet Valentines stamp freebie and started Dot’s Saltbox last night for my Valentines display. And the shoo fly blocks make me want to start another quilt!!
ReplyDeleteThe Atlanta Garden QAL looks very interesting. Love the fabrics you're using. Those shoo fly blocks are so adorable! Best of all though is your cabin log cabin stitching. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
ReplyDeleteYour shoofly blocks look great, of course! I love Barbara Brackman's QALs, but this year, I don't know if I'll join in. I still haven't put my Civil War blocks together, and how many years has that been? LOL Always a good bit of history to read on her posts, and that's worth the price of admission!
