I am butterfly stitching today and thinking of sweet loved ones. 🦋🦋🦋
Good afternoon, Sweet friends and Happy, Happy Tuesday.

My nimble fingers have been busy with the rhythmic motions of stitching all morning long.
All of my butterfly and nine patch variation blocks are quilted in my Pretty in Peach Butterfly quilt .

Twenty blocks measuring 15" (finished ) all quilted up. The borders await! Flutter ! Flutter! 🦋🦋 I will quilt a chain design in the borders.

Pretty in Peach is in memory of my sweet sister, Amo and it has a story , but I will get to it on another day. It was five years on Saturday since my dear sis received her Angel wings. How can that be?

The earth tone colors of this butterfly reminds me so much of my sweet sis. Amy was bright and vibrant, but she loved to wear earthtoned colors- well, most of the time. 😏❤

I will be moving on to quilting the borders later this afternoon.
This will be 3rd butterfly quilt that I have worked on in the last few years.
Butterfly Kisses was my first butterfly quilt. If you see a butterfly, say "I love you " and it will send the message to Heaven to the loved one you are thinking of. I say those 3 words every time I see a butterfly.
I believe in signs from our loved ones. Do you?
Flaming Butterflies was my 2nd quilt. Papa nicknamed my sis, Flaming Amo because she was a firecracker and boy, was he right. I think this quilt depicts her energy perfectly.❤
Berries and Butterflies is currently under construction. It is based on Amo and her love for the family strawberry farm.
Sweet Susan gifted me a beautiful handkerchief butterfly quilt top earlier this year. She knows my love for butterflies and how much they now mean to me. I wish you could see how beautiful this top is in person. It is in the hoop being quilted as well. Thank you, dear Susan. I think of your kindness each time that I work on it. ❤🤗

Your butterfly quilts are just beautiful, Melisa - such a lovely tribute to your sister! I love how they are each a little different from the others, and each one so meaningful. I have been so sad since I learned about Dolly Parton's passing. I loved her music and her amazing generosity. She will be missed.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Diann. I am on a mission to complete this quilt. I would love to have it completed by the end of the month, but I don't think it will happen. Oh yes, I have been saddened too by Dolly's passing. She was a treasure.

ReplyDeleteI'm also working on a butterfly but it's a cross stitch I found. It's for my daughter in law whose mom passed this spring.
I was also sad to hear of Dolly's passing. What an inspiration to us all. She will be missed by so many. I loved her music - especially the song, "There Was Jesus", that she sang with Zach Williams.

Oh that is a beautiful song, Donna. Her passing was certainly shocking.What a beautiful soul she was. Thank you so much for the kind words on my quilts. I am enjoying working on them and look forward to get back to appliqueing once the quilting is done. What a sweet stitch you are working on for your DIL. DeleteWhat beautiful quilts Melisa, and such sweet tributes to your sis. I most certainly do believe in signs from our loved ones, and there seems to be a strong connection between you and your dear Amo. My sign from my Mom was the she is "OK!". I dreamed about her in a yellow dress and saw her in a place of joy and advocacy in Heaven - it was more of a feeling I got from her - no words were spoken - and it is very hard to describe. That's how I know it is true! It's hard to be sad when you know they are in such joy. But we miss them!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful story , Linda. To receive a sign from a loved one is a blessing. And your sign from your Mom seems so peaceful and reassuring. I look for signs each and every day. Most of the time I see them and if not I ask for them. I just feel so blessed that Amo was my sis. Thank you for the sweet visit and the kind words. You brought me so much comfort. Hugs.
DeleteI couldn't believe it when I read online that Dolly passed, and then last night I saw it on TV, how sad. Your butterfly quilts are so unique to your sister and I am sure she is smiling down on you as you stitch. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteOh I couldn't either , Vicki. She was special all over the world but especially here in TN. She had such a beautiful and generous soul. I am on a mission to finish Pretty In Peach hopefully in the next 2 weeks or so . Fingers crossed. Thank you for the sweet visit . Hugs.
