Wordless Wednesday Lazy Day on the River

Happy Wednesday , ya'll! It has been a blue moon since I have posted a "Not So Wordless Wednesday " post. The other day, Mr. Pinker and I decided to take the boat out on the river. It has been years since I have been in the boat. It was a nice ride, and we saw a bit of wildlife . I hope you enjoy some of the photos.

Double crested cormorants also known as water turkeys.

The cormorants are destroying the islands by killing off the vegetation.

The quarry.

Canadian geese in flight.

An osprey in its nest on a manmade platform.

Remnants of the old dam.

I appreciate the sweet Wednesday visit.

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll

Melisa

Hugs and Stitches!!!!🤗🧵❤

Dedicated to my dear baby sister, Amy. I love and miss you so much, Amo. ❤❤❤

  2. What a wonderful series of water pictures, and so many beautiful birds to see. Thanks for the photographs. We have some great rivers that run right through the middle of town and surrounding towns, but I don't recall seeing that variety of birds.

  10. Oh, sweet Melisa, I think that I have been hiding under a rock for the last week or so!!! So much wonderfulness! August Doodle, Blueberry Basket Sampler(this I have to do NOW), Country Christmas Doodles!!!! Love, love everything. You know you are so generous to all of us, I may never have to look for patterns anywhere else, and I am happy to be doing yours. Thank You so much. Elmer the sweet donkey, that was my dad's name, is adorable.
I have to tell you, as a child, I had a pet racoon that my dad and I saved when his mama died. I kept him in the backyard until he got into my mother's canned veggies and fruits and just helped himself to a feast. Mom was a bit upset with Baby Man and I had to keep him in the back "40" away from her broom. He love honey that we had jarred up, too. Nothing was safe from his little paws!! She never forgave him, and I had to help her make more veggies and fruits. Canning is a very hot activity!! Sending you many warm hugs from hot Arizona.

    1. Aaah you certainly brightened my day, dear Mary. I had to giggle at Baby Man. I can just imagine you trying to keep him out of trouble. They can certainly get into everything , but aren't raccoons the cutest? Lol. I bet that was a busy summer for you helping your mom. Lol. I used to have a wild/ tame raccoon that would come and sit on my porch and eat with my cat. They were buddies. If it heard me out, it would come sit on the porch and watch me as well. I named her Regina. I was so sad when Regina and Kat were killed by a stray dog. Have a wonderful week, dear Mary and thank you for the sweet compliment and warm memory too Hugs and blessings.

  11. You are quite the photographer! These are some great shots of local sights and beautiful shots of the birdlife along the river. We have the geese and the osprey here, too, but no cormorants. I can almost feel the breezes along the water. Bet it was such a pleasure.

    1. Oh thank you so much Ginny. I would have loved to got closer to some of the birds, but they would not have that. Lol. The geese were my favorite. There were so many of them. I did not know that there was a nesting osprey in the middle of the river. We have a couple along the river banks on manmade structures . It was certainly a lovely day to be on the river. Thank you again for the sweet visit. Hugs.

  16. Thanks for taking us along on your river ride, Melisa. We don't get our and about much, so I always have my husband take a look at your adventures. It reminds us that there is a larger world out there! I agree with Mary (above). You are so generous with your talents. I'm finishing the little rabbit and flower stamp and have to decide which saltbox or sampler will be next. Blessings to you and yours, Kris.
