A very lovely Wednesday to you , sweet friends. Today's Not So Wordless Wednesday post is snapshots of the garden .We had over 70 tomato plants plus squash, cucumbers, peppers, zucchini and gourds. The garden has kept us busy as bees.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip about the Coleus ! I love how colourful it is! I planted a few small plants and they really took off ! It's on my list for next year ! I will try taking cuttings to get more of this beutiful plant around the flower boxes. Along with trying zinnia's !
Hi, Joanne. I hope you do try it with your Coleus. I buy one plant and all through the season snip small pieces off and replant them and soon I have many pots of them. One winter, I kept one coleus and brought it indoors . It survived and come spring time , I started taking cuttings for my other post. Have a great day and thank you for the sweet visit.

DeleteMorning Melisa, loved seeing your garden, your tomatoes look so stinkin yummy. Those zinnias are so beautiful. I love them Our temps have been hovering up around 110 for weeks with few days of under a hundred. I would love to have a few garden plants but what I do have are just screaming “it’s too hot”. Your quilt is very pretty and a bargain. Today is my day to go grocery shopping so it will be a busy day. Hope your day is a good one. 🤗❤️

ReplyDeleteHi, Donna. I hope you had a very lovely day. We have had a rather mild summer - well up until now , but everything has stayed nice and green. We have hardly had to water the garden at all which has been nice. But this week the temps have been rising. Edna was in a better mood the other day when I went out to visit her. There has been a lot of activity with hay baleing so she has been staying on her toes watching everything. Lol. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.

DeleteYou really have an amazing garden, Melisa! Mine is tiny, but we are still getting tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, and little pumpkins so I can't complain. And wasps, too! I've been stung a couple of times - ouch! The Dresden quilt is a pretty find, too. Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Jeanna. We have really enjoyed the garden this year and it has been even more productive than last year. The wasps have been awful here. This has been the worst year for me in respect to bee stings. I could not have snatched the little quilt up quick enough when I saw it. Quilts usually do not last long at our Goodwill. ReplyDeleteWe have enjoyed those tomatoes, Barbara. And I can not tell you how many we have canned. Our pantry is certainly full. Lol. I have never been so many times in a summer as I have this year. DeleteThanks for rescuing the Dresden Plate quilt, Melisa. The little blue rose fabric in it looked familiar. I wonder if I had something like it "back in the day." I need to mark my 2024 calendar to remind me to plant zinnias under the LR window. I think they will survive the clay soil and south sun as well as anything else...besides my dandelions! True confessions: I love the sunny, fluffy things! Would you consider a cross stitch dandelion design? Have a good week. Kris
ReplyDeleteI was so excited to give the little blue quilt a home and of course it being blue just grabbed my heart. Aren't those calicoes pretty? I was thinking the other day that I need to gather some of the zinnia and marigold seeds for next year's planting. I will have to come up with a dandelion design. One of my sweet friends asked for a dandelion themed house. I have to admit I like dandelions too. Lol . DeleteGreat find on that quilt! I love coleus and yours looks so beautiful! I'm not very good with plants and I've been learning slowly to take care of them. I have 2 poinsettias inside, one from 2 winters ago and one from last year. They seem to be happy as they often have flowers but my peace lily is dying, I'm starting to feel she doesn't like the spot she's in, I'm going to move her to see if that's one of the reasons.

Oh thank you so much, Diana. I was over the moon to find the quilt and give it a new home. Coleus is one of my favorite plants to grow. It is easy to propagate through cuttings a well. I have never had success with poinsettias. I bet yours are gorgeous. Sadly I am having the same problem with my peace lily. I repotted mine this summer and moved it to the front porch . It is starting to put on new growth at the base of the plant but the larger leaves are droopy. I hope you find a place that your peace lily loves. Mine will come back in when the temperatures get too harsh. Let me know if you find any tips that helps the lily. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteWow! Your garden pics are wonderful! So much bounty. Those are some happy plants, I've noticed that the coleus I have grown, that the color changes with the amount of sun it gets. Have you experienced that? We got some much needed rain being in the path of the Hilary system. It was so nice and the temps dropped dramatically. Lovely Dresden Plate quilt and perfect price!
ReplyDeleteWe had a fabulous garden this year, Ginny. I never expected the tomatoes to do so well, but they exceeded my expectations. I have noticed mine coleus does the same thing. I have some in shady parts and they are a deeper color. Two years ago I took one of my coleus plants in for the winter. I think I will do that again this year. It is so nice to hear that you got some much needed rain especially since it cooled things off a bit. I hope it stays nice and comfy . Can you believe it is almost September? ReplyDeleteHappy Friday , dear. I sure hope it gets cooler for you very soon. I hate that your tomatoes are going soft . The harsh temps and humidity is not good at all. Ours have been splitting. I hope you are able to harvest and enjoy as much as you can. My parents just returned from Nebraska a couple of weeks ago. They enjoyed going to the fairs and such. It is such a beautiful state. Have a wonderful weekend and yes it is the perfect time to stay in , stay cool and stitch the day away. Hugs.
DeleteEverything wonderful you could wish to have! Love the price and the quilted Dresden. The maker might be mortified at the price, but knowing you love it so much should make up for that! I love coleus, because my mother always had it in her garden, in all colors. I haven't had any in a long time. I should either get some seeds or buy a plant to cut into pieces. I have plenty of 4" pots hand-painted by my grandchildren. I think I'll look for a nice full plant I can cut into pieces! Or a packet of seeds. =) Thanks for a great post!
ReplyDeleteOh , Susan I was thinking the same thing when I bought the quilt. I was happy for me, but I feel heartbroken knowing all of the time and work that someone put into it to be sold so cheaply. I would like to think that the quiltmaker knows it went to a good home. Coleus is a great plant and there are so many colors. This year I bought one plant and then started taking cuttings from it. I think I have 15 pots now. Coleus would be perfect to display in your darling hand painted pots. Hugs.
