Bees Knees Monday

Good afternoon, ya'll. I am popping back in with a Monday Making / Design Wall Update. Bees are buzzing in the Quilt Nest.

A few weeks ago I bought a collection of pretty fabrics.

I narrowed down which fabrics I wanted to use for a little bee skep wall hanging and went to town. Soon I was cutting strips and 6 inch blocks.  I laid the fabric pieces out and in no time the sewing machine was buzzing.

This was the end result.

Still not satisfied, I pulled out some scrap fabric and wool and with a snip snip  4 bee skeps were cut out and were all ready for applique.

I have 2 bee skeps appliqed and embroidered.

Today I will finishing up the other 2 blocks and then- just maybe- this little quilt will buzz on into the quilting hoop.

When I came home from my past camping trip, I was greeted with the most lovely surprise waiting in my mailbox from dear PJ. Two bee charts- one of which I began Saturday night.  This is Homespun Elegance's "Bee Happy" which  I stitched it with random flosses.

This was such a fun, quick stitch. PJ finished hers so perfectly in a heart tin that she found at the Dollar Tree. I can not wait to finish mine. Thank you so much, PJ.

I will be working on the 2nd stitch this week.

I had to snap of photo of Aunt Bee's Summer Home it always makes me smile.

Yesterday , I printed out these adorable bee tags.

Bountiful Heirlooms blog has some precious free printable Bee tags. Click here to visit.  Wouldn't a string of these bee so cute as a banner?

Before I let you go, let me tell you my plan's for the week . That way maybe I will actually get them all done . 😀 My goals are not going to be to lofty- just  work on some orange blocks for the RSC. I have an applique project brewing in  my mind for that.
Also I plan to continue working on the Mystery Autumn Stamp SAL . I hope you join in or follow along on my journey.

Well, that is the buzz in this neighborhood. Thank you for dropping by for a visit . Blessings and hugs and as always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll

  1. Oh those bees and skeps are too, too cute. We've had some big bumble bees hanging around our butterfly bush -- we're happy they are doing the polination thing in our garden.

I plant loads of flowers hoping to attract them as well as butterflies and hummingbirds.  This year I planted my first butterfly bush. I love it . I hope to plant another next year. Have a great day. 4. You have such a happy blog. It always makes me smile. My week is somewhat busy. EKG and blood test for knee surgery, wash the dogs , shots for dogs at the vet, and clean the house because I'm hosting my sewing friends on Friday. Every evening I'll be stitching. Not too crazy but busy. Patty McDonald

  5. GM Melisa, I so enjoy your post. Love the bee skep in the jar and this little quilt is awesome. I have a question about your mason jar quilt blocks; I saw on another post. Where did you find the pattern for the jars for the quilt blocks; the blocks look like so much fun. I loose my mind with anything to do with a mason jar, LOL. Ball has made pink jars this year,(Vintage Rose jars) very hard to find; but I have my family in TN and AL watching for them at Krogers. Love all your junking you found; I need to go to that town and shop. Thanks for always making me smile.
