Making the Cut

Butterfly Weed is in bloom and the butterflies are happy! So that makes me happy!

Saturday Salutations! Has your weekend started out as a delightful one? I sure hope so.

Flaming Butterflies which was finished earlier.

Me? Well Mr. Pinker and I are camping again!  I know ! I know! I bet you are thinking - doesn't that gal ever stay home. LOL. Well since Mr. Pinker has retired we have been keeping the roads hot!  But yes, my weekend is starting off nicely.

Anywhooo. I think it is time to cut into some fabrics

All tied up in a pretty ribbon. I have had these fat quarters for years.

Some of these pretties will be used in the RSC blocks.

2 1/2" strips are cut.

Oooh, butterfly fabric! ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿงก๐Ÿงก๐Ÿงก

Time to make some orange "On the Plus Side" blocks.

I will then use some of the pretty fat quarters to cut out some hexies. I need 5 more hexies flowers before I begin to applique them .

  1. On the road again!!! Don't forget to have fun!! Love the orange blocks. Can't wait to see more. Of course, I'm crazy about your hexies. If you were to look back to early 2023 you'd see a pile of hexies I worked on for a bit. Then I got distracted and set them aside. Big Sigh! Anyway, I've been working on them again and thoroughly enjoying the stitching process. I couldn't click on the Pam Buda freebie to download it but that's ok. Lately I've been back on my small quilts kick and enjoying those projects, as well. Happy trails to you and Mr Pinker with loads of hugs, Darlene J

    1. Happy Saturday, dear Darlene. I hope you are having a great day. It is raining here which has cooled things down a bit. I am hankered down in the camper working on hexies. They are a lot of fun though aren't they. I bet you have some bright and beautiful ones in the works. I will have to go back to IG and check the ones you were working on out to refresh my memory. I had trouble with the Pam Buda links too, but I found that where she said "here" was the link rather than the name of the quilt which is what I kept trying as a link since it was colored. LOL. You can also just go to her webpage in the shop and find it among the patterns. I hope you are able to download it . It is a darling piece. Have a super day and stay cool Hugs.

  2. I hope you have a lovely time.
We just returned from France. We were there for only a week, because the temperatures were way to high for me.

  9. good morning beautiful Melisa.
like my mom used to say "i've got itchy feet" which always meant it was her time to travel again. you and Mr. Pinker must have itchy feet. it is so wonderful that you are able to travel the United States. it is absolutely fantastic. i wish it was me. i'd love to see the amazing USA up close and personal. i am, however, traveling along with you both by observing the lovely photos you share. please keep them coming - i love it!!!
i hope you are able to visit some thrift shops and find many new treasures. you always come out with the best. i am going to go to some thrift stores in the very near future. perhaps i can find some goodies as well.
i found two worms on my tomato plant. it's my cherokee purple. i was wondering why the leaves were disappearing. dirty rotten scoundrels. i pulled them off and flushed them. those two are gone for good.
Melisa i am wishing you safe travels. enjoy your adventures. America is an awesome country with so much to see.
blessings and love are coming your way.

    1. Hello sweet Debra and a Happy happy Saturday. Oh yes, I do have very itchy feet. Hee ! Hee! I am a wanderlust at heart. My Great Aunt was too as well as my dad. You are so right there is so much to see in the U.S. ; it is a blessing to be able to travel right now. I am sure Mr. Pinker and I will find a thrift store or two. LOL. I just cannot resist though I should . Oh no- not the old worms. I just had those dirty rotten scoundrels . They can certainly eat a plant up. I have been keeping an eye on mine - no worms yet, but the deer have been in and around the garden. They haven't made hash of the okra yet so I am keeping my fingers crossed they will bypass it. It warms my heart to hear that you are enjoying tending to your tomato plant. There is something relaxing about tending to plants isn't there ? I wish you the most delightful day. It is raining here which has cooled things off considerably so I am not sure what hubby and I will get into . Right now I have my Hexies to work on and a bit of cross stitch to keep me busy though. Stay cool, sweet friend. Love and Blessings.

    1. I am too, Kate. I have started collecting butterfly fabrics in hopes to make a big quilt at some point. I will save some of the orange butterfly fabric for it too. Thank you so much for the safe travel wishes. I do have a problem with not drinking enough water when traveling; I have to be mindful of that. I wish you a wonderful day. Happy quilting. Hugs.

    1. Oh thank you so much, dear Mary. We are having a ball on our little excursions. But I have to admit I do miss AZ. We talk about our vacation time there all of the time, but with the heat we would burn to a crisp in our little camper. LOL. Now you stay cool. I hope you are getting in a lot of stitching and quilting time of your own. Sending you warm hugs from the holler.
