Roll and Bake- A Gingerbread Doodle

Hello sweet friends . I am popping in to share the 4th and final  gingerbread doodle. It is called "Roll and Bake" . I will be color tinting and embroidering mine during my down time  while on vacation. When I have it finished, I will certainly share it.

So far I have shared:

Gingerbread and Marshmallows not photoed yet.

A Plate of Gingers

A Bowl of Gingerbread

The unfinished block size is 8 1/2" x 10 1/2". I have not decided how I will fully finish them, but once all of the blocks are embroidered I will probably frame them in 2" squares. We will see though.

I have been using the following DMC floss colors- 898, 498, 351,356,  3371, 895,  and 413 in some of the gingerbread blocks.  I will continue to use some of the same colors in this block as well.

"Snow Tart" A Winter Freebie

Hello there ,  Winter Sunshine!!!  Mr. Pinker and I are out and about enjoying the beauty of nature and having loads of fun on our camping adventure , but before we left home,  I had the chance to finish a small winter stitch  called "Snow Tart" .

"Snow Tart " is a simple and quick stitch and can be whipped up in two shakes of a lamb's tail. In fact, I stitched this  in a little over 1 1/2 hours- that's not too bad , is it?

DMC 221 is the floss color that I used, but wouldn't it look so lovely in blue?

I finished mine into a little tart tin.  I am no expert and in fact, I am a fly by the seat of my pants kinda gal, but here is how I finished my stitch into a tart.

RECIPE FOR TART FINISH

INGREDIENTS

tart tin

scissors

thread

needle

cross stitch

cardboard or mat board

glue

batting

backing fabric

DIRECTIONS:

๐Ÿงต1. After stitching the design. I found that it would fit in a 3 1/2" tart tin. I used a template to  draw out 4 circles on a piece of cardboard . I used cardboard because I am thrifty and  that is what I had on hand. ๐Ÿ˜€

๐Ÿงต2. I glued 3 of the cardboard circles together using Aleene's Tacky Glue and set them aside to dry.

๐Ÿงต3. I took the 4th circle , used it as a template and cut out backing fabric larger than my circle.

๐Ÿงต4. Using needle and thread, I created a running stitch about 1/4" from the edge of the fabric and then gathered it around the  4th cardboard circle and secured it.

๐Ÿงต5. Once the other circles were dry, I cut 5 layers of batting into slightly smaller circles and layered them on top of the cardboard circle.

๐Ÿงต6. I then  followed the same process as I did in creating the backing circle by gathering the stitched piece to the batting covered cardboard circle.  I then laced my cross stitch .

๐Ÿงต7. I took the "Backing Circle" and the "Stitched Circle" placed them together and using needle and thread whip stitched the circles together.

๐Ÿงต8. I just sat my finished cross stitch on top of the tart tin. It did not fit snug down in the bottom of the tart. Mine is more like a lid where I can store trinkets in the tart.  I will use the tart tin for other finishes after winter.

I am hoping to create some more tart finishes this year, and my mind is already in the clouds dreaming of the next one.

Well, Sweeties, that's my stitch for the day. What do you think? Do you think it looks ok? I am pleased for my 1st "tart finish".

Before you leave, I want to thank you for dropping by for a sweet visit. It always brightens my day when you come by. Have a beautiful day and ...

 As always...

Mr. Snow SAL Block 12 SAL Ice Skating

Happy Thursday, Sweeties.

Eeeh! We have made it! The final block in the Mr. Snow SAL! ๐Ÿ˜€❤

This winter our small rural town set up a ice skating rink on the town square. The grandchildren loved going skating and took to it like fish to water. So I just had to create a doodle in celebration of the kiddos ice skating.

I have to admit that I think "Ice Skating" is my favorite block out of them all. What do you think? Do you have a favorite?

Cute Snowman Image Retro

When Mr. Pinker and I return from our trip, I will be framing the 12  embroidered blocks and begin working on the quilt.  Do you have any suggestions?

I thought about a churn dash. Do I dare though?  I bet some of you are thinking how many churn dash quilts does this gal need. Hmm I don't know , but I sure do like using that block. But I am open to any other suggestions.

So far I have shared:

Block 1 Snowballs,    Block 2 Winter FriendsSnow Mitten , Block 4 Waiting for Snow   ,  Block 5 A Jolly Fellow  , Block 6 Snow Quilter  , Block 7 Snow Cream,  Block 8 Decorating the Tree ,  Block 9 SleighingBlock 10 Snow For Sale,  Block 11 With A Corncob Pipe

INSTRUCTION TIME !   Now remember , I am no expert, but am just sharing how I embroider mine. Please prepare your fabric, embroider in whatever manner that  makes you happy. The number one rule is to always have FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut your fabric to 8 1/2 "x 11 1/2" . This will  be trimmed later.

2.  Place the pattern between a light box or a window and center the design as best as possible. Trace the design onto your fabric using your favorite transfer fabric pen or pencil .

3. Embroider the design .  I used a backstitch using 2 strands of DMC 498  on most of the design. A stemstitch would look  quite lovely if you prefer.

4.   I used a French Knot on Mr. Snow's eyes. You do not have to include the French Knot;  you may want to add  teeny beads for eyes . How cute would that be!!!

5. Press and trim to block size 7 1/2 x 10 1/2". If you color tint your blocks, remember to place a paper towel over the tinted area and heat set with the iron.   The finished  block size in the  quilt will by 7" x 10" .

Mr. Snow SAL Block 11 With a Corncob Pipe

"With a corncob pipe and a button nose and two eyes made out of coal..." - Frosty the Snowman

Good morning, Sweet Snow Friends and a very lovely Winter Thursday to you. Today's Mr. Snow block features the jolly old fella wearing a flat brimmed hat which is covered with snow and a spiffy snowflake scarf.  It is called "With  a Corncob Pipe" .

Mr. Snow is busy smoking his pipe on this cold winter day. Doesn't he know that he could melt?  He is living dangerously that is for sure.

I colored Mr. Snow's hat and his scarf using the white and red crayons. I also gave him a little rosy cheek using the red crayon.
