October's Year of Heart Doodle and Bonus Blocks- Doodle Freebie

Good afternoon, y'all and Happy Saturday.

I just wanted to pop in for a quick visit and share my latest Heart Doodle along with a few bonus blocks.  I have not started any of these, but I have high hopes to pull out my fabric and crayons and begin today.   Block 10 is called AUTUMN DUSK.  I also included 2 bonus blocks that may or may not go into my quilt. They are FALL BAKING and for the Halloween lovers- JACK'S BUCKET.

Remember that all of my doodles are hand drawn and are not perfect so please feel free to adjust them to your liking.

I will be adding photos as I complete the blocks.

If you are interested in stitching this piece,  just grab , the images. For printing tips, refer to the post Tips for Printing which has loads of tips from my sweet friends.

My doodles are hand drawn and are never perfect.

The "Year of Hearts" blocks are embroidered on an 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of cotton. You may want to cut your fabric larger for the hoop and then after embroidery trim and square to 8 1/2".  I used 2 strands of DMC floss and  the back stitch. I color tinted my design with crayons and colored pencils and carefully heat set the color with an iron. When you heat set the color, place a clean paper towel over the design and press .

  2. I've always enjoyed your Heart Doodle but have yet to stitch one. It's primarily because my printer doesn't play well with others. Do you use a base on your fabric before you do your stitching, or do you just start stitching after things are traced? Just curious! I have had a yearning to do some embroidery. Enjoy the rest of your day, Ms. Melisa. Darlene J

    1. Happy Saturday, dear Darlene. I am so sorry about your printer. I have some finicky printers in the past as well. Sometimes I add an interfacing to the back , but most of the time since these little quilts are just for me and not gifts, I just jump right on in and start stitching. LOL. Have a wonderful day, sweet friend. Hugs.

  8. Just fabulous doodle blocks, Melisa--I have never "colored in" embroidery blocks--do you use special crayons for this process? I think they look so pretty...

    1. Oh thank you so much. I just use regular Crayolas or whatever I have on hand. If the color lightens over time, I just retint. It is relaxing for me; and I always love how it looks with the embroidery. I hope you give it a try some time. Warm hugs

  12. Melisa, I just love your doodles. Jack’s bucket is stinkin adorable. I want to try using the crayons—they look so cute that way. So you stitch the doodles using different colored floss that coordinates the image and crayon color? I have got to try the crayons. It makes the doodles look so dang happy. šŸ™‚. Getting ready to leave for Branson this morning. Will finish up The Crows in the pumpkin patch there so I can get it fully finished when we get back. I love stitching this one, it’s a happy stitch for sure. Thanks for sharing your talent with us. You are AWESOME. Have a great stitchy day my friend šŸ¤—šŸ§”šŸ–¤

    1. Eeeh Christmas embroidery!!! How fun! I embroidered a little quilt called "Christmas Time" in 2021. I think I posted the doodles on November 20, 2021. I also posted some wee redwork doodles last year I believe . If you can go to my November 17, 2023 Christmas Parade post there is links to them there. You have gotten me excited to work on some Christmas doodles. Thank you so much for bringing a big smile to my day and a spark to my imagination. I hope you find something you enjoy. Warm hugs.
