 Happy Saturday , ya'll. Welcome, friends.  I am already dreaming of turkey,  Mom's dressing, sweet candied yams , and potato salad. 

              My Fall 1869 Crock  freebie 

  I have been pouring over recipes trying to figure out what contributions that I can make .  The most requested recipe I get for every and any family get together is Frito Corn Salad . Though this is not a traditional Thanksgiving food , it is always gobbled up. But I am thinking of something different. 

   The Stitcherhood Autumn freebie and "Give Thanks" freebie by the The Primitive Hare. 

 Do you have any special sides that you like to make? 

                           

Today's little stitch is actually small but loooong. 

 It is simply called Thanksgiving and is a super quick stitch  since it is mostly letters. 

 The design size is 27 x 120. I stitched mine on 14 count aida which brought to it about  1 7/8" x 8 5/8" . 

 I had thought about finishing it into a little sign, but at the last minute I went with my good ole' stand by finish- a pin pillow. 

I only used 3 colors in this piece - DMC 782, 919 and 3371 . You could certainly use any fall colors that you like.

Summer Chicks- A Summer Freebie in the Fall?

 Happy Friday, my sweet friends. I have a summer freebie in the fall for you. Why not?  Ya'll know I love my chickens. I do not have real chickens anymore,  but I sure can show my love for the yardbirds by stitching some. 

Today's little stitch is Summer Chicks.  Just a  simple sweet stack of chicks - two of which are sporting a little quilt block each .  Now tell me ,  how can you resist a stack of chickens? 

This is a small measuring only 35 x 35 ,and on 14 count aida that would measure about 2 1/2" squared. 

I used DMC flosses, but you could certainly use whatever floss colors or floss brand that strikes your fancy.   I used 783, 311, 163, 975, 310, 347 , white, and 221.

Crammed Full - My Fall Buffet Tour

Red, orange, dark burnt brown, 

Falling leaves upon the ground. 

Autumn chill and pumpkin spice 

Pumpkin pie would be nice.

Good morning, sweet punkins. Come on in and grab a seat. Tea or apple cider? I have my Pumpkin cups out.

  I bet I can rustle up some sweets to eat too. 

 Well today I wanted to share you with my fall buffet. Warm colors and lots of stitching sprinkled with some vintage pieces completes my buffet decor.

 Front and center is one of my favorite stitches of all time - Autumn at Sunflower Ridge by The Woolly Ewe.

 I just used my own floss colors. That bright yellow house makes my heart skip a beat. Lol. I popped it into an 8 x 10 frame and though it hid some of the stitching. I thought this frame looked perfect.

         

   In the platter below it are the sweetest red foxes; they are salt and pepper shakers from Walmart years ago- still an Autumn favorite to pull out. 

 I moved my 1803 Autumn Home to the buffet. I shared it earlier this season. 

             

Below it is a stitch gifted to me by my dear friend, Robin. It is stunning!

 I just love  looking at it each time that  I pass by  as I head to my stitchy chair. 

 On the other side of my Woolly Ewe piece is a Harvest Home stitch that I just finished. I completed it on a metal plaque.

 I  have not shared that one , yet. I am still not sure how well the larger charts print out or how easy they are to view from your perspective. Let me know. I posted Summer House this summer which was a larger one with lots of symbols. 

 In my little leaf dish are some fabric acorns pinkeeps that I created from acorn caps. A little Family Dollar squirrel snuggles among the acorns. 

 The Crows piece was created using crow motifs from my Crow Creek Saltbox cross stitch. I just chose random little crows from the design and stitched them willy nilly into a circular design. 

 In the background , you will see ironstone dishes, milk glass from my Great Aunt Dot as well as her old vintage scale that has always been on this buffet even when she owned it.

 Usually, I fill my scale with pumpkins or plates, but this season I put some stitching in each dish. So on one side is my Crow Creek Saltbox , Autumn Jar and Prim Pumpkin House an Itty Bitty Freebie  and Blessed .

    

   

In the other scale dish is a couple of my little designs  including Autumn Blessings which I hope to share soon  and in the back is  Susan's Summer Saltbox which I shared this summer. 

             

Susan's Summer Saltbox

 On my milk glass compote, I have placed a large plate and layered more milk glass pieces on top. Lizzie Kate's Autumn Smalls finished into a pillow is snuggled among the mix as well as a polyester pumpkin made from a pair of my Granny's pants and Family Dollar acorn plaque.   

        

 Do you think I did a sufficient job of filling every inch of available decorating space? Lol I hope so.  Of course I could try to squeeze in a few more pumpkins for good measure. 😀😀. 

Oh, I forgot to show you my quilt. It is still a top right now , but that is not going to stop me from enjoying it. 

It is a little rail fence. I hung it from the old wooden wall quilt rack. 

        

I hope to share my Halloween buffet tour soon. Hmm How many ghouly  stitches will I be able to cram on the buffet?. We will see. Thank you so much for the sweet visit, friends and as always...

Priscilla Ewe - a Thanksgiving Freebie

Good afternoon, sweetie pies.  Today's crazy question is- What is a Pilgrim's hat called?   I had to go look it up .Are you curious?  Well, I learned that it is called a capotain, capatain, or copotain. 

Oh I found more interesting trivia too

* Men and women both wore the capotains.

* It is also called a flat topped hat or Pilgrim's hat. 

* Contrary to popular belief, capotains did not have buckles. ( Hmm I didn't know that) 

Well a capotain is perfect for Priscilla Ewe to nestle in. Nope,  she decided not to sport the bonnet this time.  Priscilla is the newest little stitch to join my sheep series - all which are sitting in hats. If you haven't met them, let me introduce Erin Ewe  , Betsy Ewe,  Summer Ewe and Hazel Ewe- all sisters to Priscilla. 

 

   

Of course being an ewe, Priscilla is naturally a sweetie.

 She has a little quilt on her back . This quilt has a turkey track design on it. But I have to admit I am not totally satisfied with her. Below is a change I would make. In fact, you may want to make the change too. 

A CHANGE I WOULD MAKE IF I RESTITCHED PRISCILLA

1.  I would probably change the quilt colors on Priscilla's back. What colors do you think would work?  I just might have to restitch that quilt block. I had a brain freeze on the colors when working on it. Lol. 

               

Priscilla is another small measuring just 35 x37  which on 14 count aida that is about  2 1/2" x 2  5/8" . See she is not too big.  She is such a fast stitch that you can have her joining your Thanksgiving  turkey in no time! 

           

I finished Priscilla on a Dollar General $1.00 pumpkin that I found   a couple of weekends ago while camping. Our DG did not have these. I sure wish I got some more. Isn't the little tag on it perfect?

Now before you leave,let me ask you. When you was little did you dress up like Pilgrims or Indians in school  using paper grocery bags?  I just loved doing this as a child. I always wanted to dress up like the Indian - that way I could fringe my bag and make a headband made of paper feathers. Lol .  How about you?
