A Day At the Beach Stamp- Summer Freebie

When I think of Summertime, I dream of the sun shining brightly, ocean waves crashing towards the sandy beach and  ME sitting under a big umbrella enjoying the sights and sounds with a cold glass of lemonade.  Doesn't that sound delightful? 😁 Hee! Hee! Well not to Mr. Pinker ; he is not too fond of the beach.😏

It has been years since I have been to the beach, but Mr. Pinker and I often find ourselves sitting near the banks of the creek as the grandchildren play. I like to dip my toes into the cold water. Oooh it feels so good!

Anywhooo... today I am sharing the final stamp in the Summer Stamp Stitch Along. It is the Bonus Stamp. It did not make its way into my large  sampler, but I did stitch A Day at the Beach and made it into a wee pin pillow to join the others in the collection.

A Day at the Beach  was stitched using 10 DMC floss colors including: Blanc,  562, 725, 782, 815,  898, 930, 926, 3064,  3799 .

If you are interested in how I dyed my 14 count Aida, I shared the process in a previous post entitled Let's Dye Some Fabric

If you are interested in stitching this piece,  just grab , the images. For printing tips, refer to the post Tips for Printing which has loads of tips from my sweet friends.

OOOPS/ CORRECTION: On the instruction page I wrote that I stitched the stamp on yellow Rit dyed Aida; I actually used coffee/ tea dyed 14 count Aida.

June 27th Final Reveal

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

On Saturday , I will share the final reveal of the large sampler and all of the stamps as pin pillows. I had hoped to find another frame at the Goodwill yesterday, but pickins' were slim. Luckily, I have a frame that will "make do" until I find the frame that I want.

A few weeks ago Mr. Pinker and I snatched up a homemade wooden hutch at a thrift store for only $25. It was missing it's front doors and had not been stained , but that didn't deter us. Mr. Pinker will be staining the hutch today, and then we will move it into the house. You know what that means- there is going to be a "furniture shuffle" which means a mess! Wheww! But soon I will be busy putting things in the hutch. It will mostly be for storage.

Right now my old vintage white shelf in the hall is filled to the brim with enamelware, plates and plain ole' junk. The blue enamelware will be making its way to the new hutch   perhaps by mid July.

The enamelware will be stored in the new hutch later. On display are a few new tins , I purchased a few weeks ago and the new blue splatter enamelware . Swoon.

Here are a few more glimpses of my shelf sporting a modge podge of red, white and blue.

More thrifted tins- The Dominos Sugar is a new addition and of course there is some stitching.

The Uncle Sam bank is a favorite to pull out each season.

The patriotic quilts are still sitting in the quilt room; they are as mad as a hornet that they are not on display yet ,and here we are nearing the big day of celebration.πŸ˜²πŸŽ†πŸŽ‡πŸŽ†πŸŽ‡ Well I can't blame them for being so ill . Can you ?  Hee! Hee!  So that is another project I need to attend to.

Grandma's Love  quilt is front and center draped over a thrifted shutter
 2025's Patriotic clutter.

Well Sweeties, here I have chatted your ears off again. Thank you for the sweet visit, and I hope you will come back on Saturday to see the Summer Stamp all framed up. Of course, I am sure that I will talk to you before then though.
Have a warm sun shiny day!

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting,  y'all

    1. Aaw thank you so much, Julierose. I have never created a beach piece before. It was sorta out of my comfort zone, but I am pleased for my first attempt. I have a thing for basket quilts. I know you like them too. I do need to work on the one that I started back in January. I think it is the same little pattern but in red. Have a blessed day. Hugs.

  3. Summer Stamp Stitch Along has been so much fun, Melisa! A Day at the Beach sounds perfect to me, too! The furniture shuffle happened for us this past weekend. Hubby and I swapped offices and we are still working through the mess. I look forward to seeing your sampler framed. Enjoy your day!!

  4. Love A Day at the Beach. Like Mr. Pinker, dh does care for the beach. I love it though and, like you, haven't been there in ages. Thank you for this last one - it definitely goes onto my SAL.
I do like your older pics of your patriotic clutter. I notice some of the things hanging on your wall - did you do those? The ones I could see are very pretty! Blessings!

    1. LOL We gals need to go to the beach and leave the hubbies at home. Hee! Hee! The was the 1st beach themed design I have made. It was fun to do something a little different. Oh yes, most of the patriotic clutter has been made by me or gifted to me from my sis.I love decorating for the Summer season. Have a beautiful day, Donna. Hugs.

  5. The Day at the Beach will be going into my sampler. For 8 years my daughter lived in Texas and we spent a week at the beach every year. I have some wonderful memories. All the designs are sooo cute. I have a difficult time deciding which design to stitch as a pillow. I have been using a ribbon and pins with the additional pillow so it hangs over the corner of the frame. I can remove the ribbon if I decide to put the pillow in another location. The Summer SAL has been wonderful - thank you for sharing your talents and your world. It is a lot of work to decorate for the seasons and holidays, so this year I have put my patriotic items in the entry/family room and kitchen and seasonal items in the dining and living rooms. The patriotic items went on display in May for Memorial Day and will remain until after Labor Day. I am going to try this with Fall/Thanksgiving and Winter/Christmas. I have a lot of Christmas decorations, so it may not work out LOL. Hopefully it will be less work. Have a wonderful day. Alicia

    1. Aaw I am so glad you like The Day at the Beach and what a sweet reminder of the time you spent at the beach with your daughter. I bet you have many fond memories. That is a fabulous idea on how to display the Bonus block, Alicia. How very clever! You are so right about it being a lot of work to change things out seasonally, but it is a joy too. I like the idea of dispersing your seasonal items to certain areas so you can enjoy all of your things. I will have to remember that. Hmmm... you got me thinking ahead for the holidays. I hear you on the Christmas decorations! I bet your home is just beautiful decorated for all of the seasons. Thank you for the sweet visit and for stitching along with me. Warm hugs and Blessings.

  7. good morning sweet Melisa.
The Day at the Beach is such a wonderful little stamp. i love it and i am contemplating on swapping out one, BUT ... which one. i love them all. you are so creative and i just love all the stamps that you make and share with us. we are so fortunate to have found you.
another warm day today - mid 80's - that i can deal with as long as i'm inside in the air conditioning. ha ha i guess that's called cheating, isn't it?
i can't wait to see your new wooden hutch. i am sure it is going to be filled to the brim very soon with all your talents. your new finds will be awesome to view as well.
busy day ahead. two dr appts - one for me and one for my husband. then tomorrow i have another dr appt. lunch is planned with my mom to get her out of the house. it is always a blessing to spend time with her. these days are keeping me hopping. pretty soon it will all calm down. dr appts will be out of the way for a while and i can get back to my quilting and cross stitching. as if? sometimes i get so overwhelmed when walking into my sewing room that i don't know where to begin. do you ever feel that way? or are you organized (i know you are) and know just what you're going to be working on?
i guess i shall leave you for a bit. it is always wonderful to hear from you Melisa. i so look forward to it everyday. you make the day perk up with your very happy and cheerful posts.
i just love it. i hope you have a wonderful, blessed day and that you have a minute to get out and smell the roses.
a great big, bear hug is coming your way. i hope you feel it.
    blessings and love Melisa.

    1. Good evening, Sweet Debra. I hope your doctors appointments went well and I wish you the best on tomorrow's visit. I know you are so ready for things to slow down so you can enjoy the things you love. Oh how wonderful that you will be visiting your mom and going out to lunch. I bet you both will have a lovely day. Do you have a special place you like to eat? Hopefully, it will not be too hot to be out and about. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny hopefully not too muggy, but we shall see. Hee! Hee! Oh Miss Debra , I know exactly what you mean about stepping into the quilt room and getting overwhelmed. My quilt room is a disaster zone! I know where most things are, but it is not for the faint of heart to enter that room. Hee! Hee! Oh well, at least we can have fun in our creative spaces. Right? I was thinking today as I was sewing that I need to clean my quilt room. Did that happen ? Nope! LOL. Well, I will let you go , sweet friend. You always brighten my day and bring a smile to my face. Warm summer hugs.

The beach is my lifeline... I can't live without the sea at least once a year.

  13. You and Mr Texas Quilt Guy would get along just great. He longs to lay on the beach and just bake himself. Not me, give me the mountains any day!
