When I think of Summertime, I dream of the sun shining brightly, ocean waves crashing towards the sandy beach and ME sitting under a big umbrella enjoying the sights and sounds with a cold glass of lemonade. Doesn't that sound delightful? π Hee! Hee! Well not to Mr. Pinker ; he is not too fond of the beach.π
It has been years since I have been to the beach, but Mr. Pinker and I often find ourselves sitting near the banks of the creek as the grandchildren play. I like to dip my toes into the cold water. Oooh it feels so good!
Anywhooo... today I am sharing the final stamp in the Summer Stamp Stitch Along. It is the Bonus Stamp. It did not make its way into my large sampler, but I did stitch A Day at the Beach and made it into a wee pin pillow to join the others in the collection.
If you are interested in how I dyed my 14 count Aida, I shared the process in a previous post entitled Let's Dye Some Fabric

OOOPS/ CORRECTION: On the instruction page I wrote that I stitched the stamp on yellow Rit dyed Aida; I actually used coffee/ tea dyed 14 count Aida.

Oh m goodness they all adorable DarleneJ
ReplyDeleteAaw shucks thank you so much, Miss Darlene. I have had a ball stitching them. I hope you are having a great week. I have been thinking about you. Hugs.
DeleteA day at the Beach stamp is so adorable with those wavelets and the umbrella--so neat, Melisa!!
ReplyDeleteI really just love that little foyer basket beauty I spied in your decor set up...you are so creative with those set ups...hugs, Julierose
Aaw thank you so much, Julierose. I have never created a beach piece before. It was sorta out of my comfort zone, but I am pleased for my first attempt. I have a thing for basket quilts. I know you like them too. I do need to work on the one that I started back in January. I think it is the same little pattern but in red. Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteSummer Stamp Stitch Along has been so much fun, Melisa! A Day at the Beach sounds perfect to me, too! The furniture shuffle happened for us this past weekend. Hubby and I swapped offices and we are still working through the mess. I look forward to seeing your sampler framed. Enjoy your day!!
ReplyDeleteAaw I am so happy you have enjoyed the SAL Jeanna. It is such an honor that you joined me. Wheew the furniture shuffle is a job isn't it? I still want to move my bedroom around but I will have to wait on that. LOL. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteLove A Day at the Beach. Like Mr. Pinker, dh does care for the beach. I love it though and, like you, haven't been there in ages. Thank you for this last one - it definitely goes onto my SAL.
ReplyDeleteI do like your older pics of your patriotic clutter. I notice some of the things hanging on your wall - did you do those? The ones I could see are very pretty! Blessings!
LOL We gals need to go to the beach and leave the hubbies at home. Hee! Hee! The was the 1st beach themed design I have made. It was fun to do something a little different. Oh yes, most of the patriotic clutter has been made by me or gifted to me from my sis.I love decorating for the Summer season. Have a beautiful day, Donna. Hugs.
DeleteThe Day at the Beach will be going into my sampler. For 8 years my daughter lived in Texas and we spent a week at the beach every year. I have some wonderful memories. All the designs are sooo cute. I have a difficult time deciding which design to stitch as a pillow. I have been using a ribbon and pins with the additional pillow so it hangs over the corner of the frame. I can remove the ribbon if I decide to put the pillow in another location. The Summer SAL has been wonderful - thank you for sharing your talents and your world. It is a lot of work to decorate for the seasons and holidays, so this year I have put my patriotic items in the entry/family room and kitchen and seasonal items in the dining and living rooms. The patriotic items went on display in May for Memorial Day and will remain until after Labor Day. I am going to try this with Fall/Thanksgiving and Winter/Christmas. I have a lot of Christmas decorations, so it may not work out LOL. Hopefully it will be less work. Have a wonderful day. Alicia
ReplyDeleteAaw I am so glad you like The Day at the Beach and what a sweet reminder of the time you spent at the beach with your daughter. I bet you have many fond memories. That is a fabulous idea on how to display the Bonus block, Alicia. How very clever! You are so right about it being a lot of work to change things out seasonally, but it is a joy too. I like the idea of dispersing your seasonal items to certain areas so you can enjoy all of your things. I will have to remember that. Hmmm... you got me thinking ahead for the holidays. I hear you on the Christmas decorations! I bet your home is just beautiful decorated for all of the seasons. Thank you for the sweet visit and for stitching along with me. Warm hugs and Blessings.
DeleteThe beach block is adorable. Can't wait to see your new hutch!
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Robin. Hubby finished staining and I have been filling the cupboards. I hope to work on the top maybe tomorrow. It is going to be a good storage piece. I hope you had a great day. Hugs.
Deletegood morning sweet Melisa.
ReplyDeleteThe Day at the Beach is such a wonderful little stamp. i love it and i am contemplating on swapping out one, BUT ... which one. i love them all. you are so creative and i just love all the stamps that you make and share with us. we are so fortunate to have found you.
another warm day today - mid 80's - that i can deal with as long as i'm inside in the air conditioning. ha ha i guess that's called cheating, isn't it?
i can't wait to see your new wooden hutch. i am sure it is going to be filled to the brim very soon with all your talents. your new finds will be awesome to view as well.
busy day ahead. two dr appts - one for me and one for my husband. then tomorrow i have another dr appt. lunch is planned with my mom to get her out of the house. it is always a blessing to spend time with her. these days are keeping me hopping. pretty soon it will all calm down. dr appts will be out of the way for a while and i can get back to my quilting and cross stitching. as if? sometimes i get so overwhelmed when walking into my sewing room that i don't know where to begin. do you ever feel that way? or are you organized (i know you are) and know just what you're going to be working on?
i guess i shall leave you for a bit. it is always wonderful to hear from you Melisa. i so look forward to it everyday. you make the day perk up with your very happy and cheerful posts.
i just love it. i hope you have a wonderful, blessed day and that you have a minute to get out and smell the roses.
a great big, bear hug is coming your way. i hope you feel it.
blessings and love Melisa.
Debra Broyles
Good evening, Sweet Debra. I hope your doctors appointments went well and I wish you the best on tomorrow's visit. I know you are so ready for things to slow down so you can enjoy the things you love. Oh how wonderful that you will be visiting your mom and going out to lunch. I bet you both will have a lovely day. Do you have a special place you like to eat? Hopefully, it will not be too hot to be out and about. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny hopefully not too muggy, but we shall see. Hee! Hee! Oh Miss Debra , I know exactly what you mean about stepping into the quilt room and getting overwhelmed. My quilt room is a disaster zone! I know where most things are, but it is not for the faint of heart to enter that room. Hee! Hee! Oh well, at least we can have fun in our creative spaces. Right? I was thinking today as I was sewing that I need to clean my quilt room. Did that happen ? Nope! LOL. Well, I will let you go , sweet friend. You always brighten my day and bring a smile to my face. Warm summer hugs.
DeleteYour "Day at the Beach" captures the feel of the beach perfectly! Looking forward to seeing your new hutch. Mr. Pinker is a wonder!
ReplyDeleteAww thank you so much, Terry. This is my 1st beach themed piece I have created so I was a little nervous about it, but I am pleased for my 1st attempt. Mr. Pinker is a jewel; he got my hutch moved and stained in no time. Now I am ready to decorate it. Have a great day. Hugs.
DeleteSuch a lovely stamp! It is hot here in The Netherlands. It will be very busy at the beach.
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Annelies. I bet it will be very busy at the beach with such high temps. I would love to go to the beach but not when it is so crowded. Maybe someday. LOL Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteA day at the beach sounds like a lot of fun. Even if it isn't an ocean front beach. That last summer stamp hits all the right notes, a fun way to start off the season.
ReplyDeleteOh that would be so nice, Kate. It has been years since I have been to the beach- probably when my girls were youngins. Maybe someday I will convince Mr. Pinker to head to the beach. Hee! Hee! Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteThis is such a cute one, Melisa! Now I'm going to have to make a choice for my stamp #9. I do love putting my toes in the ocean and listening to the waves. It's so fun getting new furniture of any kind and rearranging everything to fit it in. I'll enjoy seeing what you do with new hutch!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Diann. I look forward to seeing what you choose for your last stamp. I think strolling the beach , dipping my toes and collecting shells are my favorites. It sure would be nice to be at the beach. Have a wonderful evening. Hugs.
DeleteI love this new summery style, Melisa!
ReplyDeleteThe beach is my lifeline... I can't live without the sea at least once a year.
I can't wait to see that sideboard you just bought at the secondhand shop.
And I really liked the patriotic decor in your home.
Hugs and kisses!
Oh Isabel, I can understand why you love the beach so much. My girls are the same way and they visit the beach at least once a year too. I adore the beach as well, but hubby is not too fond of it. I am super excited to have a new hutch. It certainly is a great storage piece. Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteYou and Mr Texas Quilt Guy would get along just great. He longs to lay on the beach and just bake himself. Not me, give me the mountains any day! I have a feeling we have neither though. :D Oh that's a cute little beach cross stitch. I can't wait to see your hutch! I am LOL over your quilts being mad as hornets at not being displayed - bahahahah!
ReplyDeleteLOL I wish my hubby would like to go to the beach . He says he doesn't like the sand, but yet he is ok to go to the desert. Hmmm. Oh well. Hee! Hee! Oh I love the mountains too. I missed not getting to travel to CO this year. LOL I cannot believe I have not pulled out my patriotic quilts yet. that is so unlike me because they are some of my favorites. Have a fabulous evening and thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteThese are all beautiful! I love the water and although I may not enjoy being at the beach, I love a boat ride. I did love the beach in my younger days, though. But being near water is very soothing and therapeutic, I find!
ReplyDeleteOh a boat ride would be so relaxing. I love being near the water too. We usually go to the creek and the river a few times during the summer. The grandsons love both and would stay on the water if they could. Thank you so much for the sweet Tuesday visit, Linda. Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteDear Melisa, I’m a fan of your blog! The cross stitch patterns you design are treasures to me! I’m in the process of collecting the SAL Seasonal Stamp Charts. I have went back and added the link and I am also going to put a note about it on tomorrow's post at the bottom of the post. I am working on the Winter Stamps right now making them into pin pillows. DeleteI love going to the beach and I love your beautiful stamp! The closest thing this summer will be going to the lake, the water here is soooo cold, even in the hottest day of summer. Maybe another year we'll be able to go to the sea. I will keep working on the SAL to catch up. These are my last days at work before the summer vacations!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Aaw I am so happy you like the little stamp, Diana. It was a fun one to create and share. I hope you enjoy stitching it. Oh going to the lake is wonderful. I always enjoy listening to the birds and waves even on the lake. There is always something to see and discover. Thank you so much for stitching along with me on the Summer SAL , Diana. I hope you have enjoyed it. And I wish you the most wonderful summer vacation !
DeleteA Day at the Beach is darling, Melisa! We are less than half an hour (by car) from the beach, but we seldom go there, we prefer the forest/mountains. Your winter pillow is so cute. You have some adorable decor, I enjoy looking at it all. Looking forward to see your new hutch.
ReplyDeleteOh the mountains are so wonderful and peaceful. I understand your desire to visit them too. Do you see much wildlife when you visit? Usually this time of the year we travel to the mountains out west. We didn't have the opportunity this year, but that is ok. Maybe next year. Thank you for the sweet visit. Have a beautiful day. Hugs.
DeleteThanks so much for the new stamp, Melisa. It is sew cute!! Hugs, B
ReplyDeleteThe new stamp is just so cute. Perfect summer scene. I am not a beach person, but I do like to swim. My days of oiling up and baking are over. The patriotic displays are looking wonderful. Enamelware is some of my favorites. Always brings my Grandpa to mind.
