I have been busier than a moth in a mitten!!! Hee! Hee! ππ

Wheew! Thank goodness, it is Slow Stitching Sunday where maybe I can sit back and enjoy some stitching time.
Welcome, y'all . How has the first few days of May been treating you? I hope well. Can you believe it is May already? My, 2025 is just flying by isn't it.
So what have I been doing this week? Well. working my fingers to the bone with the flower and veggie gardens. As I cleaned my sister's flower gardens, Mr. Pinker tilled the garden. The drip tape was then put down.
Next we laid the plastic while we swatted attacking mosquitoes away. Tomatoes, pepper, cucumbers and squash were planted; luckily we got the plants in before the rain.
 |
The plastic is laid in the garden . Now to plant. |
The Easter decor hopped back into the bins for storage.
 |
Cabbages, bunnies and chicks. |
And the strawberry decor came out of storage.
 |
Strawberry stitches waiting to be displayed. |
I began a new house stitch.
 |
The Blue House in the works. |
...and moved the hoop in the Otis Payne quilt.
 |
A few more blocks to quilt then I will move the hoop again in the Otis Payne quilt. |
Sooo... What am I going to work on today? Well I am going to put up my feet, rear back and embroider the antennas on the Pretty in Peach butterflies.
 |
Embroidering antennas for the butterflies. |
 |
Working on my Strawberry Stamp sampler. I am using DMC 930 for the border. |
Last year, I shared bookoos of strawberry stamps.
If you have missed any of the strawberry stamps, I invite you to hop over to the previous posts by clicking on the colored links.

I will be adding a few more stamps to the collection this year. The first one for 2025 is "Berries For Sale".
This stamp brought back lots of fond memories. One of my jobs on the family strawberry farm was to hand paint the "berry " signs every year. These would be scattered along the winding country roadways. I always included an arrow on each sign so the customers would be able to find the farm. "You are way out in the boonies! "-some would say. Or " We made it to get our berries , now how do we get out of here?" others would ask. Anywhooo. Three varieties of berries were sold by the the gallon or by the flat. Often they were sold out by 12:00. I have to admit I do miss those days of picking the berries fresh out of the field and munching on them like candy.

This is a CHOOSE YOUR OWN COLORS CHART. If you are interested , I used DMC 498, 937, 782, Blanc, and 3371.
OOOPS-CORRECTION: In the directions, I mistakenly listed the fabric that I used as 14 count charcoal gray Aida. It was actually coffee/ tea dyed Aida.
πππππππππππ
Well I have reminisced long enough. I better get off here and work on my grand plan of relaxing and stitching the day away.
As Always,
Happy Stitching and Quilting, y'all
Melisa
Thank you for the sweet visit.

Ooooh, strawberry decor! Your little pincushions are so adorable, and I love the newby, Berries to sale. What a lovely memory about the farm and the berries. Both quilts you are working on are coming along nicely. Enjoy your stitching day!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing and linking up.
Oh thank you so much, Frederique. I always enjoy bringing out the strawberry decorations; they are a favorite especially since they remind me of the farm. I wish you a lovely week. Happy quilting. Hugs.
DeleteThat is a fun little stamp design, Melisa! I did stitch some of your strawberries last year and enjoyed every one of them. Love your memories of the strawberry farm, too. Yum! We stopped to pick strawberries at a place in S. Carolina when we were there a few years ago, and, oh my, they were good!
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Diann. This was a quick little piece to stitch up and brought back lots of fond memories. Farm fresh or homegrown berries are the best aren't they? Hope your week is a lovely one. Hugs.
DeleteEnjoy the garden, fresh peas sound wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Gretchen. The plants should really come along with the rain that we received. Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteOh goodie! Another house to add to my list and I am displaying all of the strawberry stamps in my wooden bowl and now I have another one to add! As always, thank you so very much for your kindness and generosity. I hope you enjoy your slow stitching Sunday. Finished mowing and trimming and now going to sew on a project I am thinking about trying to sell at a garage sale in a few weeks - decorative door hangers with scrap fabric, felt emblems that are decorated with beads, buttons and bows depending on my fancy. I have been making these for the granddaughters bedroom doors for holidays and the ylove them - 4 squares of fabric like a tiny quilt with the felt piece ironed on and then hung by a ribbon and stuffed with polyfil. Carrie
ReplyDeleteOh , Carrie your decorative door hangers sound fabulous . I bet your granddaughters just love them. And what a cute idea. I wish you all the best with your garage sale. I bet you will be super busy getting ready for it. It warms my heart that you have stitched the berry stamps. I hope you enjoy the new addition. Warm hugs and Blessings.
DeleteSuch fun stamps. Love strawberries and your memories!
ReplyDeleteAaaw thank you so much, Betty. I have many fond memories of the strawberry farm. This little stamp was a quick one to stitch .I wish you a lovely week. Hugs.
DeleteYou certainly have been "busier than a moth in a mittem" I've never heard that saying before.
ReplyDeleteLOL thank you so much, Jenny. I am hoping this week will be a little more settled especially since the garden is in. Enjoy your week. Warm hugs.
DeleteI love your sayings! Your gardens are so big! Your vegetable garden will be productive and your sister’s garden will be lovely – a sweet ode to her. Your strawberry dΓ©cor is lovely – so many memories as you stitched them up, I’m sure. Wow! You’ve made lots of progress already on the Blue House and who doesn’t love a bowtie quilt? The butterflies will be happy with their antennas. Yes, there’s nothing like fresh fruit off the plant. Happy stitching to you!
ReplyDeleteAaaw thank you so much, Patricia. I am hoping we will have a good garden this year. Perhaps there will be enough produce to can a bit too if I am lucky. I am so happy that I was able to get in a bit of stitching this week with the long days in the gardens. Have a wonderful week and happy quilting. Hugs.
DeleteI'm excited about the new stamp - woohoo!!! Last night I worked on one you designed last year. It's strawberry stitching time at my house. Can't wait to see the new house. A neighbor friend slipped and fell in her kitchen four weeks ago and I've been spending lots of time helping her. I've put everything I was doing on hold so I can be available at a moment's notice. I've been missing my stitching/sewing time, so I need to put a little more focus on my needs and wants, as well. My life has been a bit chaotic, and I feel it. Enough whining! LOL Have a wonderful week. Big Hugs, Darlene J
ReplyDeleteOh my, Darlene. How terrible that your friend fell. I hope she was not injured too badly, but it is so good that you are there for her. But yes, you do need to take care of yourself too. Just getting in a bit of time for yourself will bring a bit of peace and relaxation. We sometimes do forget to do that don''t we? I know I do. Eeeh ! Strawberry stitching time! I am so excited that you are stitching strawberries too and honored that you are stitching one of my stamps. I hope you enjoy it. I hope to work on some finishing today and maybe sit down to the sewing machine. Then I may work on a strawberry stitch or two. Sending you a big ole' bear hug.
DeleteWhat a beautiful strawberry stamp, Melisa.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've been very busy with all those jobs on the farm.
I hope you have a happy week.
Hugs from Spain
Oh thank you so much. The little stitch brought back lots of fond memories growing berries. It kept the whole family busy that is for sure. Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteI look forward to seeing your garden grow! Do you plant your tomatoes and peppers directly from seed into the ground? The strawberry decor is just lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Linda. I bought plants this year. I do have some peppers in the greenhouse growing by seed. I will transplant them later. I failed to get a photo of the garden planted. Have a wonderful day. Hugs.
DeleteLooking forward to you new stitch - looks like a great one - again! Love the strawberry stamps. I remember back in the 80's - good grief! - dh and I were stationed in CA and we lived down the road from a strawberry farm. We used to buy flats of strawberries, invite friends over, and have a cookout with lots of great food and fresh strawberry margaritas and daquiris. Would you believe...$1 for a flat? :-O Blessings!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! That was the good ole' days when things were a lot cheaper. I wish we could buy berries that cheap now. Don't you? My in-laws bought some earlier this year in Louisiana ; they were super yummy. I do miss having fresh berries here on the farm. Thank you for the sweet visit, Donna. Hugs.
DeleteI can't wait to see the new house on the block, Melisa. Cute new strawberry design! You had a busy weekend. Have a marvelous Monday!
ReplyDeleteOh it was super busy, Robin. I hope that this week will be a little slower pace so I can enjoy more time sewing and stitching. I hope your week is off to a lovely start. Hugs.
DeleteYou have been busy! Hope you finished all the antennae. So many fun strawberry stitcheries. Mom grew strawberries, I miss being home for those.
ReplyDeleteIt sure was a busy week, Kate. Hopefully it will be a little quieter this week. Fingers crossed. It warms my heart the stitch brought back fond memories. Does you Mom still grow berries? Maybe she could freeze you some . Not the same as fresh , but still yummy especially since they are homegrown. Warm hugs.
Deletegood morning Melisa. thank you so much for the post.
ReplyDeletecan i ask why you put plastic down prior to planting your veggies? i have never heard of that. perhaps the reason i haven't is because i don't have any land to plant on. i just pots!!! pots, pots, and more pots.
thank you so much for the berries for sale freebie. it is so cute. another berry little stamp pillow for my collection of stitching. i'm so excited.
i hope you have a wonderful day and get a little time to rest and enjoy your beautiful gardens.
blessings and love are on the way to you Melisa. a big squeezy hug is coming, too.

Happy Monday, Debra. I hope you had a wonderful weekend . There are not many gardens that put down plastic in our neck of the woods, but since we had a strawberry farm where acres of plants were grown, we like to put down drip tape and overlay plastic for irrigation and to keep down the weeds even if it is on a small garden. It is a lot easier for me in the long run. LOL - I don't want to hoe the weeds out. I like to grow plants in pots too. I have tomatoes and peppers in pots right now as well. How are your tomatoes doing? Big hugs and love. And thank you for the sweet as pie visit.
DeleteWhat an amazing garden!! and all your stitcheries - love them. You have the cutest things
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Alycia. You are so very kind. I sure hope the garden does well this year. Fingers crossed. LOL. Hugs and Blessings.
DeleteThere are many that are starting gardens. I looked at a wildflower "mat" yesterday and considered placing it in a few flower gardens... and then I saw the note that said to only plant after any risk of frost. Well then, I guess I wait until JUNE! lol. Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell.
ReplyDeleteA wildflower mat would be fabulous to plant. I hope you are able to plant it soon. We planted 2 wildflower gardens. I am looking forward to seeing how they do. Have a blessed day and thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteWe got some tomato and pepper starts this last weekend. Found a place that does heirloom varieties. Guess we'll see how they do when the temps improve a bit more. Still a little nippy over night for too much to go in yet. What a sweet new berry stitch. Thank you! The newest house stitch is Americana and it looks like it's a winner already. You have earned some well-deserved kick-back time to stitch. You've been hard at it this week. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to hearing how your plants do this year, Ginny. I prefer the heirloom varieties if I am able to get them. Hopefully, it will warm up soon. These last few days have been a little nippy here too. I think it is blackberry winter here. I am hoping to finish the new house this week. I do love patriotic stitching. Warm hugs and Blessings.
DeleteYou always have some many wonderful projects on the go. The strawberry designs are summer sweet. Happy May.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Tammy. I try to have a variety of projects on hand so I can at least pick up something to work on even for just a few minutes. Hopefully, I will get more stitching time this week. Have a lovely week, Tammy and thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteI saved several of your berry charts but need more time in the day to stitch LOL.
ReplyDeleteAaw I am so honored, Jeanna. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know how you feel ; we need more hours in the day don't we? Happy stitching. Hugs.
DeleteI have never heard that saying about about a moth in a mitten ~ What a fabulous saying! Nothing better than fresh picked home grown strawberry :) Have a wonderful week! (nwpaintedlady)
ReplyDeleteDitto -- never heard the saying but honestly I got it right away. Definitely a fun idiom. You have been working hard. Love the reminiscing about your work on the farm. Thanks for sharing so many wonderful little cross stitch patterns.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, picking strawberries. Our kiddos did that a couple of weeks ago and had fun. They do that every year and get a couple of buckets of berries. They enjoy picking blueberries too. I think it's great they do that. Have a wonderful week, Melisa. Thanks for joining us at Monday Musings! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI am delighted over the strawberry stamp sampler, yay! Since I was able to finish the winter sal I might venture into doing this one too, love your work, thank you for sharing!
