I finally finished With Thy Needle and Thread's 2009 "May Day Sampler " freebie which Brenda Gervais posted on her blog in the April 26, 2009 post. I used mystery flosses- that is flosses that I lost the label.
More Scrap Happy Flags will be in the works. My nephew gifted me a large bag of fabric last year; in that bag was this Christmas fabric. I am not sure who or what the characters are, but I will cut this into 1 1/2" strips. I have already pieced some of it in this flag block.

DeleteI really am enjoying the Heart series. Thank you. Question - do you pre-color the entire image white before adding colors? I watched a YT video the other day and that was their recommended way to do it. I hadn't heard that before.
ReplyDeleteOh yes that is what I do too. I watched Crabapple Hill do that and so I started doing the same. I enjoy the coloring process; it is so relaxing. I colored July's block the other night and was able to embroidery it while on the road yesterday. After I press it, I will go back with my colored pencils and darken it up again. Thank you so much for contributing to my stitchy addiction!! I may have to live forever, while my kids try to figure out what to do with all of my STUFF!!! DeleteI am just now starting to stitch the Heart series! Can you tell me how big you cut your squares to start with and the actual size of the heart stitch from top to bottom? I am trying to follow the print it instructions and I'm not sure what size the embroidery should actually be!! I love everything you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh I am so excited that you will be stitching along with me. I cut my block about 9" square , but after I embroidered it , I trimmed it to 8 1/2" ( unfinished size) . So the block will finish 8" when I set it in the quilt. From the top of the heart to the bottom measures a little less than 6 1/2". Thank you much for joining me and for the great question.
