Dear Mother Nature,
Sweet ,dear Mother Nature, will you please cooperate and dump some snow on this southern gal? I'll take a couple of feet , please. Just right after I get my bread and milk ! Well maybe not that much because I sure enough do not want the electricity to go off! I promise I will enjoy the white fluffy stuff fully.I sure would be happier than a pig in snow covered slop.
Welcome , my sweet snow friends. Do you think I will get a response from dear Mother Nature. Lol. I don't know. Maybe.
We haven't seen a good snow (which is about 2" where we live) in about 5 years or so. It was right before we bought our sleds. So they are brand spanking new and never have been used. I'm itching to settle down on a sled and speed on down a snowy hill. Or if nothing else we could get in the flat bottom boat which would be pulled by the four wheeler. Lol Ya'll know I'm still a big ole' kid at heart. Snow fun on the farm - Admit it, I know some of you can relate to those antics during winter time.
Please do tell. Are you a snow lover or not so much?
Today is a "Frosty McChill Day" !!! ☃❄☃ Block number 9 which is called Snowball Hunt. Frosty reminds me of a child hunting Easter eggs with his bucket of snowballs.

INSTRUCTION TIME ! Now remember , I am no expert, but am just sharing how I embroider mine. Please prepare your fabric, embroider in whatever manner that makes you happy. The number one rule is to always have FUN FUN FUN!!!
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Cut your fabric to 8 1/2 "x 11 1/2" . This will be trimmed later.
2. Place the pattern between a light box or a window and center the design as best as possible. Trace the design onto your fabric using your favorite transfer fabric pen or pencil .
3. Embroider the design . I used a back stitch using 2 strands of DMC 498 on most of the design. A stem stitch would look quite lovely if you prefer. I used 1 strand of 498 for the details in the snowman's face.
4. On the snowflakes , I used a French Knot at the end of 4 of the points . You do not have to include the French Knot or you may want to add a teeny bead at each point . How cute would that be!!!
5. Press and trim to block size 7 1/2 x 10 1/2".

Another cute snowman!! Hey, it thundered here in NC last night. You know what that means, don’t you?? SNOW within 10 days, according to the old timers! I hope they are right!!

DeleteMelisa I'm afraid we are at odds since I was just thanking Mother Nature for holding off on the snow. Here in our area of Ohio we get ice and snow which for this old chicken heart makes getting out and about a scary adventure. I was so much braver when I was young and indestructible! So we'll make a deal. I will ask Mother Nature to share our snow, which I know will come!, with you.

ReplyDeleteNo winter snow where I live, only on the tops of mountains and very high hills. I probably wouldn't be able to cope with it then. We do have quite a vibrant skiing scene, for those who love this sport. I would probably be quite happy having a ride up to the top, going into the cafe or restaurant for a cup of hot chocolate. That's more my style.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting, Jenny. I had wondered if it ever snowed in your area at all. I would have never imagined skiing there. We have gone to a small skiing area years ago in a neighboring state and enjoyed it. I pretty much stayed in the lodge watching from the window staying warm and cozy, but boy did I enjoy watching the kiddos. I wasn't any good at skiing though. Lol. Happy New Year.
DeleteWell, I'm not sure where you are located, but here in western New York State, we usually have abundant snow by now. But nothing but green grass for days and days. No white Christmas this year. However, some fog is rolling in and it's 40 degrees right now.

It sounds like you are having a mild winter so far, Kathleen. I have had the windows open for it has been in the 70's today, but that will not last long. If I can not have snow then I would rather it be warm . Lol. I hope you have a wonderful and blessed new year. Happy stitching.

DeleteThank you for another cute pattern. You can keep the snow. I've grown up in So. Ca. and if we want snow we go to the mountains. Love seeing and visiting the snow but I don't want to live in it. We've visited our son, who lives in another state, during the winter. It's beautiful but we like being outside all year without being super cold. I know, I know, I'm spoiled. Have a great day. DeleteI love snow!!! We had our first fall on Tuesday and I sat and watched it thru the window all day. We lived in Virginia Beach for years and my neighbors asked me to stop putting up the snowflakes on my porch because it made them nervous. VA Beach only got a good snow every few years. We moved back to NW Illinois for the snow. I will take any amount of snow over ice anytime.
ReplyDeleteOh how fun, Deb. I hope that you got a good snowfall to enjoy. I would not want to see the ice either.We had a pretty bad ice storm in 96 which took out the electricity for a few days. Not fun at all. Lol. Enjoy the snow and I hope you get to make some snowcream. Happy New Years.

ReplyDeleteI have to say I'm not a fan of cold if I have to be out in it. I love the idea of snow, with me inside by a fireplace (even a Netflix fire!) with a lap of stitching and a cup of warm herbal Stash Christmas Eve tea. I love snowmen. I love the same cartoons you do, and Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye, and the angel who gets his wings, and all of that snowy stuff. But I don't long to go out in it, sled in it, even take a sleigh ride, and I definitely never want to slide off the driveway or road into a deep vat of the stuff again. LOL Sure, laugh at the Arizona desert girl who slid off and got stuck in a couple of feet. Even if she's your wife and didn't grow up in New Jersey, and thinks 55 is right next to frozen to death. Hey, he's the one who wanted to go back to Arizona where he met me!
