Summer Quilt Stamp- Summer Freebie

Good morning, y'all and a very lovely Tuesday to you. How was your weekend? Mine was fine and dandy, but fairly busy.

With all of the weeding and planting in the gardens, I did not have the opportunity to stitch the latest Summer Stamp until late Sunday evening.

As I stitched on Summer Quilt ,  my head went into the clouds as I began dreaming- dreaming of a summer picnic.

A picnic is a state of mind and can be made anywhere. _ unknown

When my girls were young, we would often lay a quilt out on the ground, set up an array of summertime munchies like hot dogs , chips  and cold drinks and enjoy a lazy afternoon. Sometimes the girls would sit on the quilt and make clover necklaces and bracelets by interlocking the stems around the clover blooms. Did you do that as a kid?

By late evening, the girls  were running amuck trying to catch lightning bugs so they could gingerly place them into a jar.   That is what we call slow living on the farm.  I do miss those days .

Summer Stamp was stitched on 14 count Aida.

Now we have the grandsons and nephews who often come over and spend the night. Rather than having picnics , they enjoy time in the pool . When nighttime comes, they like for us to build a fire in the fire pit. It does not take long for them to gather their roasting sticks to  toast marshmallows and make s'mores.  Hmmm...Since school will be letting out on Friday, I better make sure our pantry is  well stocked with marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolates ; I am sure there will be a sleepover by the week's end- that is if I am lucky.

Anywhooo... Summer Quilt  is all stitched and ready for a summer picnic.

Summer Quilt was stitched with the following DMC colors: 223, 815, 930, 932 and  Blanc . Of course, if you decide to stitch Summer Quilt, you could stitch it in whatever floss colors your precious heart desires. ❤

I am not sure what I will get into today. The house does need a good cleaning, but then there are some lovely fabrics that are calling  loudly - " Yoo Hoo! Come play with me! " Hee ! Hee!  Nine times out of ten , I end up playing with my fabrics rather than tackling the house chores.

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting,  y'all

  2. Summer Quilt is the perfect stamp for the center of the sampler, Melisa. Full coverage, so I best get to stitching! I enjoyed hearing about your summers when the girls were young. I'm sure you grandsons are making the best memories these days. Enjoy!

  4. I love how your little Summer Stitchery is coming together, Melisa:))) So pretty with your lovely color choices...sunny here today--definitely a "deck" picnic lunch day for us...
We had a lot of beach picnics and local on-the road-"Rest Area" picnics using their pre-set up tables when I was little.
We'd go for a "ride" and stop when the moment hit us. Fried chicken, potato salad, orange soda--then my favorite--and always cupcakes for dessert--yummees!!...fun times to remember...
Hope to sew row 1 of Pips today after my food shopping foray...
    hugs, Julierose

  5. It's a wonderful summer stamp!!
How wonderful to be able to live on the farm and do these activities.
Living in the city, I sometimes tried to have picnics in a park, but the girls hated it when ants climbed on the blanket.
    Hugs

  6. Ugh on the house chores, and yes to the fabric play! We need to go vote today before the predicted storms begin, and here I sit trying to catch up on blog reading. I LOVE the summer quilt stamp - thank you! Your picnic memories are so nice. You've got me craving s'mores now.

  7. Such a cute stamp, Melisa. My mom and aunt used to take my cousins and I to the river to swim and we would have a picnic some days. Fun times. Ms. M got out of school last Friday because she made a 33 on her ACT and was exempt from finals. The boys get out Thursday at 1 and my daughter finishes up on Friday. Hopefully we will have them for breakfast/brunch Friday. That's been how it was in the past anyway. Enjoy your summer with the boys. Hugs, B

  9. Your finished stamp is a cute one! At the end of a hot day, we used to take a picnic to the lake. We would water ski until it got dark and then eat our picnic as we cruised back to the dock to load up for home. --TerryK@OnGoingProjects
