Moovelous Monday

Someone left the  wide gate open, and all of my barnyard friends have made  their way into  the house to celebrate the Christmas season!

A very Moovelous Monday to you, Sweet Friends. Welcome!

The other day I hinted around to Mr. Pinker that I would like to put up the Christmas tree downstairs. After running some errands, I came home to see my raggedy 6 1/2 foot  tree already downstairs waiting for me.  Aaw how sweet of Mr. Pinker. 🤗

I could not decorate it quick enough. It was not long before chickens came to roost on the very top of the tree. Years ago I stitched this piece for my oldest grandson .It is a Kathy Barrick design which was in the 2001 Just Cross Stitch Magazine .  Anywhoo....Mr. Pinker's nickname for our grandson is Rooster so this ornament is very befitting and always goes front and center.

Then I tucked Barnyard  stitches here and there and everywhere.  You may notice teeny tobacco baskets as well. In years past, my family grew burley tobacco.

A little wooden pig ornament is in memory of our pig farming days.
I miss our little oinkers; so does Mr. Pinker.

Of course there are felted cows and little milk cans.

Because the tree no longer has its legs, its trunk is tucked in a wood stove pipe. Then...the tree is tucked in Granny's old galvanized wash tub. Yep rusty and crusty- just the way I like it.

But look what I used for my tree skirt!  A ring of vintage and antique cow bells. 🐮🐮🐮

So here is this year's Barnyard Tree in all it's glory. I still need to change out the decor on the shelves, but I am nearing a finish. I had wanted to add the John Deere pedal tractor, but I could not squeeze it in . Maybe next year.

I have shared most of the ornaments on  this tree over the years in my Barnyard  Christmas series. If you see any that you are interested in ,  check out this year's Ho! Ho! Ho! Christmas Parade Of Previous Freebies- 2025.

Alrighty y'all that is the first of this year's trees.

Have you got your tree up yet? Or are you waiting until it gets a little closer?

Have a mooo-arvelous day!  And thank you for dropping by.

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting,

 y'all

Melisa

The extra  cow bells were placed on the freestanding gas stove.

  1. Good morning, ooh how wonderful you decorated. Love it. So many lovely things, I like most the old cowbells. I am nearly ready with all the Xmas deco and presents. Never in my life I was that early.
    Hugs and a happy day,
    Gabi

  2. I love, love, love all the barnyard ornaments. I stitched quite a few this year but didn't 'finish' them so I'll add more and finish them for next year. It's a goal - teehee. I had a lengthy conversation today with a dear friend about a variety of things but especially my pile of unfinished projects. The stitching is done but they wait for 'finishing'. My joy comes in the actual stitching and not the actual finishing work. It's a bad habit but I don't worry about it. teehee I have a large' pile of little aka small quilts but they remain just tops. Maybe 2026 should include catching up on all the finishing. We'll see.
Now I have to tell you about Marcus the Bull. My grandparents had their house and bunkhouse surrounded by a fence and if we failed to close the wide gate Marcus would wander in and make a mess between all the cars. Ugh! Naturally, my grandfather always was the one to discover that Marcus was in the yard and yell for us to get him out. Marcus was good at avoiding us and we'd end up laughing and carrying on. My grandfather was always madder than a wet hen, but we all thought it was funny. LOL Poor Marcus he just wanted to joy the fun with all the adults and kids. My grandfather would sit in his truck just giving us "the look" but my grandmother would stand on the porch and laugh at how ridiculous we looked chasing that crazy bull. He was very good at dodging us. LOL Great memories - thank you!!!
Happy Monday - big, big hugs, DarleneJ

  6. I love that tree of your - especially how you've made it stand! Great ideas! Our tree is up though it's now as decorated as much as we usually do. But, that's ok - we love it just the same. I have dreams of being permanently settled and putting a large tree up outside with lights and ornaments on it - unbreakable of course - and just sitting outside and loving this time of year. Blessings!

  7. It's always fun to see your livestock! Love your barnyard tree - so pretty, and the Rooster ornament is so sweet. I still want a house where I can have room for a Christmas tree in every room - not sure that will happen but we can always hope, right? Hope you have a marvelous week Melisa!

  12. What awesome memories your barnyard tree holds! We will wait a little longer to decorate the tree. . .it will be a mini since our house is small and there will be a lot of people over all at once for holiday meals.--TerryK@OnGoingProjects

  13. Your barnyard tree is so fun, Melisa! I love seeing all the fun things you hang on it. We put up our tree on Saturday. I have a little bit more to do, and then it will be all ready for the season. I love your stitch of Santa and Mrs. Claus up there on the tree - I'll have to go searching around for that one. Have a wonderful Monday!

  14. good morning beautiful Melisa.
oh my goodness how i wish i could have been at your house this weekend. farmyard animals in the house. i'd love that. how exciting!!! wheeeee we're having fun now. i bet they loved seeing everything that goes on in their mommy and daddy's house. heeeeee
your post is wonderful. i went back thru your Christmas parade of 2025. danger, danger will robinson. i found about 8 additional patterns. they're going right on top with all the other Christmas/winter pinker n punkin patterns i have collected. i'm so excited.
it's going to be in the 80's this coming week. air conditioner in the day and heater at night.
yikers!!! i am going to be wearing my shorts all week. i was almost ready to put them away. i have to water my plants this morning and then go to the market for some yogurt and diet dr. pepper. time to stock up while they are on sale.
i just love your Christmas trees. i wish i had enough room at my home to have multiple trees. i'd have them in every room. i put my tree up in the living room on September 1st. i just may keep it up all year long and decorate accordingly. for february it would be hearts, in march shamrocks, etc. do you think that's a silly idea? i just wonder if i could find enough decorations to decorate monthly.
well amazing lady i guess i should get a move on and continue reading my emails and facebook. i have a few that i "go to" on a daily basis. you're first because i just love you.
have a wonderful, blessed day Melisa. stay safe and enjoy the season. Jesus is the reason for the season.
blessings and love are on the way to you. a great big bear hug is on the way, too.

  18. No tree up yet. But we enlisted the help of our grandson-in-law to get it out of the attic above the garage. So it’s in the house, at least. LOL

  20. I put the tree up over the weekend which is behind schedule for me. I have been unable to find my cross stitch ornaments yet but the hunt is on. I have finished all but two of the barnyard Christmas ornaments and one of those is under construction. I love these ornaments - thank you. Your tree looks great - the cow bells is such a fun addition. Do you put a lot of time and thought in the set up or does it just come naturally? Thanks for the post - enjoy your day and evening. 21. Is that Bev playing peek-a-boo through the fence? It made me smile. Your Barnyard Christmas tree is wonderful! Such fun stitches. Many I still have to do. I've enjoyed the ones I've done. All those cowbells are the perfect finish to the theme. How many do you have? We are getting our tree this weekend. Less worries about it drying out.
