Another Woodland Adventure- Wordless Wednesday

"You ready to go?" asked Mr. Pinker.

"Sure. Where  are we going? " I asked.

"Over the river and through the woods, " he replied. "Well actually to the neighbor's and then the state forest. "

Soon we were on our way.

So, today's "Not So Wordless Wednesday" post is another traipse in the woods.
Hope you enjoy. ๐Ÿค—

May apples are growing.

What are these?

Lots of undergrowth.

An old chimney toppled down and covered with moss.

The old well site.

Nearby creek.

Shadows dancing on the tree trunks.

Maude Belle's Garden Home - A House Freebie

This is just a quick pop in to say howdy and to wish you a fabulous day!  ๐Ÿค—

I have a new house to share.

It is called Maude Belle's Garden Home. It is in memory of my great grandma  who lived in a humble home in the great state of  Kentucky. I never met Great Grandma Maude, but I do have fond memories of  listening to my  Granny chat with her over the phone.

I would like to imagine that Great Grandma Maude had a lovely garden surrounding her home. ๐Ÿฅ€๐ŸŽ•๐Ÿฅ€๐Ÿ’ฎ

I am not sure if she did have a garden, but I know my Granny liked to plant flowers . Perhaps she got the love for gardening from her mom, Maude.

I included an odd little dog which is named Sadie; it is carefully taking a stroll on the large flower vine.
Granny always named every stray dog ,  Sadie.

Hmm I wonder if Great Grandma Maude had any animals. ๐Ÿค”I am not sure, but in her stitched garden, she has a dog and birdies.

Reckless Operation With a Needle?

Oh, please! Oh please! I beg of you! Do not  call the Quilt Police when you see my repair. ๐Ÿš“๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿšจ

Good morning, Sweet friends and Happy Sunday. Can I bribe  you with a piece of  carrot cake to not call the quilt police? LOL. It is quite yummy!

Last Sunday , I was telling you about the repairs that I needed to make to the burgundy triangles in my Alabama Beauty quilt.

If you are not familiar with the Alabama Beauty quilt, this was a partially quilted piece I bought in Alabama on the World's Longest Yard Sale in 2023.

I am finishing the quilting as the original quilter started it with pretty pink quilting thread .

Anywhoo... those pretty floral burgundy triangles had holes in them. Upon further examination , I realized that the holes were mostly in the grayish leaves. - Perhaps the dye that was used or is it moth holes???? ๐Ÿค”- Hmm I am not sure.
Small holes were in the burgundy triangles.

Well, I just had to make the repairs so  I found a  dapper brown floral fabric . Pinned it over the original triangles and whip stitched them down.
I pinned the brown fabric over the burgundy triangles and appliqued it in place.

 What do you think ?
Two triangles repaired. Now I need to repair the little brown triangles under the scissors.

Ok?" Or Should I be thrown in the clink for Wild and Reckless Operation of a Needle? Hee! Hee!

I think I  am going to live recklessly and make more repairs today . ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿชก๐Ÿชก๐Ÿชก

I finished  Love Letters ,  2023 , Kathleen Tracy of  A Sentimental Quilter   design which she shared as a SAL at the time.
I am fixing to change out all of this clutter. This little shelf holds vintage made in Japan redware and USA pottery.
My 10 minute a day project this week  has  been the "America Sampler" by The Calico Confectionery ( a sweet gift from dear PJ). ❤๐Ÿค—

A Happy Scrappy Day

Sunny Saturday Salutations! Welcome, Sweet Peas. How are you doing on this fine Saturday morning? I hope well.

After several days of rain, the sun is supposed to peek through the clouds today. Fingers crossed it makes an appearance.

A rainy day in the holler.

The other day I finally had a chance to sit down to the machine and have a full day of sewing. Boy , was I as happy as a lark as I pieced my red RSC On the Plus Side blocks.  It felt like ages since I had sat down to my machine.

These blocks measure 10 1/2" unfinished.  These scrappy blocks look so pretty all laid out on the floor.

Next up was my Around the Garden blocks. I pieced 5 red blocks. These measure 12  1/2" unfinished.

I will be appliqueing the centers with flowers this  upcoming week.

I rounded out the evening by quilting on my Otis Payne's  Bow Tie quilt.  It is time to move the hoop !

So all in all , it was a very  happy scrappy day!๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š❤๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿค—

Hmmm , so what's on the agenda  for today? Well, I may go with Mr. Pinker to have dinner with his old work buddies or if I stay home, I will be playing in the garden , planting a few seeds and then enjoying the day with the needle and thread.
What are you going to be doing?

 As Always,

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

I Have a Finish!

Eeeeh! I am fluttering with excitement! ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿฆ‹

Happy Friday , y'all and welcome to my neck of the woods.

I finished my Flaming Butterflies quilt that is dedicated to my dear sister, Amy.

I appliqued the blocks in January of 2024 white camping in Quartzsite

Because she was a little spitfire, my Papa had nicknamed my sister Flaming when she was just a baby . She was always on the go and ready for an adventure.  Even as a toddler, if she had a mind to go somewhere, off she went. Thankfully, on the farm there was plenty of room to roam. We always had to be aware that she might toddle on down the road to try to go to my Nanny's though so we kept an eagle eye on her.
Blackie says Hi!

Since her nickname was Flaming Amy, I hand appliqued the scrappy butterflies on red fabric.

The secondary block is one that I called the Whatcha MaCall It   block. I gave a tutorial of it in my April 29, 2024 post.

Each block measures 15 " finished.  It is machine pieced, hand appliqued, embroidered and hand quilted.

I added a swirl motif for the nine patch corner blocks.

To say I am fluttering with excitement with this finish is an understatement! I am beaming!  Excuse me a moment while I do a happy little jig! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ˜Š

Some of you may remember that last year I completed Butterfly Kisses for my sister.

Butterfly Kisses from Heaven completed in 2023

I have a new butterfly quilt in the works.  This one will be called Pretty in Peach. I began appliqueing these blocks in  January in Quartzsite
Pretty in Peach Butterflies in the works.

Alrighty, y'all , I guess I better get to work on the those butterflies. I wish you a fabulous Spring day. See ya' later!
