Snow , Sheep and Clover Basket -A St. Patrick's Day Freebie

What is it  Mark Twain said?  "Everybody talks about the weather but nobody does anything about it. "

Well with that being said-  Brrrr. It is cold out there!  Hee! Hee! ๐Ÿฅถ

Today is supposed to be the coldest day of the month in our neck of the woods dropping down to 19.   It is a perfect day to stay home in  my jammies and stitch the day away.   Now that sounds like a plan. Don't you agree?

LET IT SNOW

We got about 2 inches of  snow yesterday.

It began to melt by mid day, but soon the temps dropped.   There is no school today so the little munchkins will be here shortly then katy bar the door for they are sure to find something fun to get into - knowing them  they will probably go outside. Aaah to be young again when cold weather did not bother one so  much.๐Ÿ˜

Anywhooo,  it has been a spell since I have stitched one of my own designs.   I have a wee start on my Clover Basket Pinkeep which I have high hopes to finish by the weekend.

I hope you do not mind if I share the chart without it being stitched . Since I am still working on it, I have not listed the floss colors  so it is a "CHOOSE YOUR OWN COLORS" chart, but I will list the colors that I use when I finish this piece.

With the snow looking so inviting yesterday,  I pulled out my Frosty McChill Quilt  so it could frolic in the snow. Frosty was quite happy.

I then marched inside and  pulled out Mr. Snow  embroidered blocks which I shared in 2023-2024. Click here to visit a post with links to all 12 of the  Mr. Snow blocks.

It is time to do something with these blocks before I move on to another embroidery project.

Three of the 12 Mr. Snow blocks waiting to be sashed.

The Mr. Snow blocks  are the same size as the Frosty McChill blocks .  I will be cutting fabric today and framing a couple of the blocks.

Well , Sweeties I am going to cozy down on the couch, sip on a cup of coffee and stitch on a little basket.  I wish you a beautiful and blessed day.

 As Always,

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Wild ,Wild Roses Quilt

Rise and Shine, Sunshine! It is a beautiful day!

The grandsons are out of school today. Snow is expected- a dusting up to an inch ; we shall see how much we get. The boys are happy little campers no matter how much snow we get.

In the foyer, I keep a wee "year round tree "out to decorate for the seasons. It is tucked into an old enamelware pot. For January, I decorated it in small mittens. Upon return from my camping trip, it was time to take down the mitten tree decor. Thankfully , this was a quick task to complete.  Hmmm, maybe I should have waited since it is  still winter time.
Time to take down the Winter Tree decor.

It did not take long for me to redecorate it with little floral picks and wee baskets.

I am adding baskets to the tree

Can you tell that I am dreaming of Spring?  Below the tree is old crocks , pottery and baskets.

The tree decorated with baskets and surrounded by vintage goodies.

I am dreaming of birds chirping, bees buzzing and flowers blooming. Are you having the same dreams? I sure am ready for Spring.

My plants in the greenhouse made it through the first month of winter . I was a bit worried since I was gone and not tending to the plants, but my daughter peeked in on them a couple of times.

A marigold blooming in the greenhouse . What a treat to have a bloom in February.

Last night I pulled out my Wild ,Wild Roses quilt blocks that I worked on in January of 2023. Click here to see that post.

Laying out the scrappy rose blocks.

I was inspired by Beth Shibley of My Sewing Room. She posted a  video  2 years ago called Roses in Bloom Quilt Block.  Beth posts the most delightful  videos .

My blocks are 10 1/2" unfinished  ( 10" finished) .

Lots of scraps and "ugly" fabrics in this one, but I do like how it turned out.

I will now lay this quilt top aside and ponder on the border for a spell.

Wild , Wild Roses pieced and awaiting a border.

I am still learning my new computer. Wheew! I just do not pick technology up as quick as the kiddos. My 8 year old grandson helped me the other night. I still have more "questions" though.  I guess I will have to wait till the boys  come over to get more "tech " help.
Please forgive me on still being behind.

Well, Sweeties. I better get off here. I have a quilt to work on. Enjoy your day! Stay warm and cozy!

 As Always,

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Sunday Rambles

Hello Sweet Sunshine! Happy Slow Stitching Sunday. I have my needle and thread ready ! Do you?

Shall we start the day with a quilt stack?  It warms my heart to see a stack of textiles any day of the week . How about you?   Look at this grand stack of quilts that I came home with from my camping trip. No this is not the projects that I completed- Oh, how I wish it was, but these are the small quilts that I thrifted  on my travels this past month. They range in price from $1.99- $8.00. I will be showing these to you in detail over the next few weeks.  Excuse me while I  take a moment to do a Happy Dance! Hee Hee! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ

It is no secret that I adore -dare I say love-  any type of quilt!  They just tug at my heart strings whether the quilt is big or small. Mr. Pinker surprised me with a new quilt for Valentine's along with a dozen roses.

He purchased it at a little antique store in the county over. They only had 2 quilts and he knew with all of the red in this one that I would love it to pieces. ❤❤๐Ÿ˜€   It is machine pieced and hand quilted.

A simple little quilt but so lovely. Each maple leaf block measures 9" squared with 3" sashing.

There are some flaws in the sashing fabric , but to me it adds to the charm of the quilt because the quilter used what she had to make a quilt for warmth and love.

On our recent  camping trip, I brought along a small sewing machine ( Bummer, I forgot my iron though) . I was able to piece a few blocks using the limited fabrics that I had on hand.  I decided to name these blocks "Around in the Garden" .
One evening, I decided to add some applique to the center of the blocks.

At one thrift store that I visited, I found a pillowcase , just perfect for quilting projects. I decided to cut into it for stems and leaves .

It did not take long to applique a small posy.

I spread out my blocks  to admire on a tablecloth laid out  on the four wheeler trailer which we used  as a deck coming off of the truck camper.

Speaking of tablecloth. Let me show you another thrifty find that I bought while camping.
Eeeeh a vintage floral tablecloth! Be still my heart!!!

Just my colors too!

And at a great price! Yee haw!!!

So now down to the nitty gritty.  Yesterday, I pieced 4 blue "Around in the Garden" blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge .

Today I will work on appliqueing the flowers in the center.

In the evening, I hope to work on Lori Holt's Home Holiday Sampler, a sweet gift from dear Joan. I am moving right along on it.

Now onto the plans for the week.
Hmm.... What Should I do This Week?
๐ŸŒž1. Work on Flaming Butterflies quilt
๐ŸŒž2.Work on potato chip blocks
๐ŸŒž3Work on Photo albums.
๐ŸŒž4. Piece some bow tie blocks
๐ŸŒž5. Work on Around in the Garden blocks.
๐ŸŒž6.  Unpack my cross stitch and begin working on a new project.

We have some stitching to do so I better get off here. Have a beautiful and very productive day, Sweet Peas and ...

 As Always,

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Finally Home!

Home again! home again! Jiggity jig!

Welcome y'all and a very lovely day to you! Well, Mr. Pinker and I rolled in off the dusty trail and made our way back to the old homestead in the holler after spending over a month camping in warmer weather.  We had a ball with lots of grand adventures and a few mishaps- one  of which was my computer. But I came home to a new one waiting for me.

Anywhoo we spent most of our time in the mountains exploring one path after another.

Fixing to ride down a steep hill where one off roader slid down.

We admired the beauty of the cacti which surrounded us.

The Great Tree in Quartzsite is estimated to be 1058 years old.

We found lots of old miner's camps to explore. Most of which were long forgotten and were slowly tumbling to the ground.

We even went into a few mines that were no longer active - but not too far into them.  Oooh - spooky!

I marveled at the petroglyphs in Quartzsite.  I wonder what stories these drawings tell.

Grinding pot

We did not see many animals . A few mule deer and antelope.

Oh, bother ! Dust and debris was on the camera lens.

Mr. Pinker's highlight was to see the quail in the area. We would see coveys of them each evening before they roosted.

In the evenings, we would sit and admire the sunsets. The colors of the sky out west are glorious. I do not see many sunsets like this here in my neck of the woods.

Soon it was time to pack up and head for home. We had grandchildren to see and doctor appointments to attend. Uggh on the appointments. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜€

Before we made our way home though, we had to stop at Buc-ees for a dessert.  This was the 2nd time , I had visited a Buc-ees.

I was able to work on some stitching and quilt projects as we camped and of course, I did a little thrifting as well. Hee! Hee!  I will show you those projects and goodies as I unpack  in future posts.  Sshh,  don't tell anyone , but not only do I have to unpack, but I have to take down my Christmas decor  too ( Mr. Pinker and I left soon after Christmas so we did not have time to take the trees down. ) Oh well, I will get it down soon.

Well, Sweeties, I better run. If you are in the neighborhood, stop on by and help me unpack. Hee ! Hee! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜„I have loads upon loads of laundry to do . I better get a move on!

I wish you a wonderful , Sweetheart Day ! Happy Happy Valentine's!

Please forgive me as it will take awhile for me to get caught up on correspondences and posting especially since I am learning to use a new computer.   I feel like I am as slow as molasses as I get older. ๐Ÿ˜

Love this Willie sticker!
