Do you recognize the little guy? It is Baby Flake from my Flurry & Flakes SAL .😀☃ You may remember him in The Family Portrait embroidery.
Baby Flake always looks so inquisitive doesn't he? He loves his little buddy especially Flurry which is one of the cardinals.
One of the little cardinals was in the Winter 1869 Crock which I posted on November 11, 2022.
I often get asked why the date 1869. Well that is a nod at one of my ancestors. I always put something in my stitches that reminds me of them. In fact, I love to stitch cardinals this time of the year, in memory of my Nanny.
As far as the date , you could certainly change it to a date that is near and dear to your heart.
This crock is a small just measuring 56 x 52 and on 14 count aida that would bring it to about 4" x 3 3/4". I used 9 DMC floss colors including 840, 3371, blanc, 221, 301, 930, 895, 353, and 898.
I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding . I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and for stitching my little designs.
I have a little matching embroidery too. It would look so cute as an ornament or pin pillow or whatever your heart desires. So if you are interested, grab that image as well.
I embroidered Baby Flake in DMC 498 using a stem stitch. After embroidering the little guy, I trimmed the block to 4 1/2" x 5 1/4" . I then added a wee border to it.
I cut 2 - 1 1/2" x 5 1/4" red strips and using a 1/4" seam allowance sewed to each side.
I cut 2 - 1 1/2" x 6 1/2" red strips and sewed to the top and bottom of the block.
Have you seen my other crocks? Well if you haven't, just click on the links and pop right over to the previous post. You might find one that strikes your fancy for a holiday or seasonal stitch.

DeleteThank you so much for so many beautiful designs! I have already stitched many of them, and have one on my hoop now. However, I have a question. On the pic at the top of your blog, in the lower left corner is a picture of kids skiing, Snow Day, can you tell me where to find it, as I feel like I have seen the pattern before, but cannot locate now. GOD Bless!! Sheila
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Sheila. I hope that you have enjoyed my humble little creations. I stitched Snow Day years ago ,but changed the colors to remind me of my kiddos. It is a Prairie Schooler design in the January Booklet #177. I saw that 123 stitch has it in stock right now. I hope this helps. Have a wonderful rest of the week.
DeleteOh, look at Baby Flake all stitched in red! I will have to do that one. I've been stitching the Family Portrait in black, but I do love redwork. Thanks for the design, Melisa!

DeleteWhen I first found you a few days ago, I never realized what a resource for design you are, or how joyous your designs would be. I'm discovering more each time I come to see your posts. Thank you so much for the links and this new adorable snowman. I love snowmen! I had a dream to embroider snowmen to go between blocks of mittens, and then realized how many I'd have to do! ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Carol. This was a fun little stitch to work on . I particularly enjoyed the embroidery. Have a very lovely weekend. Hugs.
DeleteI really love all your sweet little snowman stitches. My style was very similar to yours way back when but after living in Kuwait the past 28 years, my decor has obviously evolved to reflect the part of the world I'm in and collections from our travels. Still, can't get rid of the country girl in me and I am completely in love with everything you design and make. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAah thank you so much, Tammy. It would be hard not to be influenced by the beautiful area that you live in now and displaying your travel treasures I am sure brings back so many fond memories.
DeleteMerci pour ce nouveau modèle. Votre bonhomme de neige est plein de tendresse de poésie.
