Time to Work on my Quilt Blocks

Is it December already? By golly it is! How did that happen?

December Word Play - a design by With Thy Needle & Thread finished on a Kirkland's chalkboard bought at the Goodwill.

Good evening, y'all and Happy December. It seems like yesterday that we were celebrating Halloween and here we are in the month of  December already. My how time flies.

Today has been quite chilly . It has been overcast for most of the day, but the rain moved in this afternoon . I expect the pitter patter of rain will continue throughout the night.  Mom said she saw a snowplow head up the valley earlier today.  Hmmm might we have snow in the forecast- I don't know.

I finished this old Prairie Schooler piece into a pouch which I stuffed with winter greens.

Yesterday , I pulled out my secondary blocks for my Pretty in Peach Butterfly quilt. Do you know the name of this block? I think it is so lovely.

Anywhooo.... I need 9 more blocks.

With a swish and swoosh , I had the 3 1/2" squares and strips cut for all of the blocks. I was ready to get down to the nitty gritty and do some serious sewing. But alas, I ran out of thread. Oh bother!

So Mr. Pinker and I went to Wally World today, where we picked up a few groceries and of course some thread so I could get back to the task at hand.

At the thrift store, I found this gorgeous snowball quilted table runner for only a $1.98!๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿค— I could not snatch it up quick enough.

Each end has the most darling wool appliqued snowman scene.

The 16 snowball blocks measure at 3" finished.

I think it was a great thrifty  find. What do you think?

Well Sweeties, that's what is going on in the holler.

How was your first day of December?

My view from the side of the house at the blueberry bushes and well house.

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting,

 y'all

  1. Ooooh what a great find at the thrift store, and for that price! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Someone put a lot of love into it.
We're supposed to get a snow storm tomorrow so I'll probably sit by the woodstove while working ๐Ÿ˜ This evening I'm stitching Prairie Schooler's 1984 Santa ๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿป

  2. I don't recall what that block is called although it's fabulous.

I'm glad you got some thread - I seldom run out of thread, but I do run out of floss and I hate when that happens. grrr.
I wish we had some fabulous thrift stores around here. What we do is usually very expensive.
The snowman runner is wonderful - awesome find.
    Lots of hugs, DarleneJ

  4. We had some rain that turned into snow over the weekend, and it is cold here in Colorado! Brrr! Your Pretty in Peach blocks are full of sweet fabrics, Melisa. I love those butterflies on the blue. Your thrifted snowman runner is really neat - great find! Hope you had a happy stitching day!

  5. It seems like time has passed very quickly this year! I don’t know the name of the block, but it is lovely and I love the colors. I am glad you got the thread, so you can work on that to-do list LOL. The snowball table runner is definitely a find at an unbelievable price. I have not found a quilted item while thrifting, but I have picked up framed cross stitch a number of times (I can think of a dozen items, but there may be more). They were usually a couple of dollars and all but 2 were professionally framed. I was happy to bring them home and display them. Have a great Tuesday. Alicia

  7. Great find. Like it. Yes, time rushes by and I must say, 2025 was not the happiest year but I make the best of it. Today it is a bit chilly so I stay in the house and ... stitch the time away.
    Have a great tuesday,
    Gabi xx
