The rain has set in, and the flowers are happy.
Good afternoon, y'all and a lovely evening to you. Two posts in a day? Aaah why not! 😀😁
To my surprise, we did get a number of showers today. That gave me a break from watering all of the flowers which was so nice. Between showers, I was able to go outside and take a few snapshots of what was going on in the garden. Still wild and woolly , but pretty in my eyes nonetheless.

Little caterpillars dangled precariously from a limb high above.
As a large clump of them ,cling tightly to the branches and leaves.
And the rain continues...
So what's a gal to do, but retreat back into the house and bustle about.
Well actually, I have been working with a new printer / scanner. My old one bit the dust! Boo Hoo!😢😭
Not being tech savvy, I have been having some troubles learning the new one. The terminology , the lack of instructions has got me bumfuzzled . Hmm is that a word? 🤔😀 I am not for sure, but I sure have been frustrated. 🤪
After many hours, I have muddled my way through the process, and I have high hopes that I will be able to share a chart. Be forewarned though, I am not sure how it will come across once posted, but I am trying.

Some of you may have spotted my latest bee finish in my header photo. I have been working my little fingers to the bone to have it finished before the end of summer.
It is called "The Hum of the Bees". "The Hum of the Bees is the voice of the garden. " This is a lovely quote from Elizabeth Lawrence, an American gardener and author.

My stitched little garden is filled with bee skeps, blooms, bees, and birds. A happy little place indeed.
The Hum of the Bees was stitched on 14 count Aida which I dyed charcoal gray with RIT dye. On 14 count Aida , the design size was 135 W x 106 H which brought it to about 9 5/8" x 7 5/8" . That meant I could pop it in an 8 x 10" frame. Woo Hoo!
There are 14 floss colors in this design which includes: DMC 317, 407, 610, 730, 780, 782, 815, 831, 898, 924, 3371, 3740, 3743, Blanc.
I have trouble printing and sharing large charts. The images do not interpret as well on the computer. ( Remember I am not tech savvy nor a professional designer, but I do love to share . 😊)
I have provided a little note to refer back to in respect to the placement of the floss colors. I hope this helps.

ReplyDeleteLOL, Darlene, blogger can sometimes be finicky or maybe its the internet. I know my comments sometimes just vanish as well. Oh I have been several rounds with that printer. I think I finally am getting the hang of it. I just need to make notes so I will remember. Hee! Hee! Rainy day hugs.
DeleteI wish we could get some good rainy days--we are in a drought here in SE CT. Our grass is turning to hay before our eyes...We are in a little corner where the sea breezes push the rain up North more often than not...;(((

I thought of you as it rained today, Julierose. I do wish I could send you some of our rain. It was nice outside when the mosquitoes were not on the attack. It is always a hit or miss here in respect to rain or snow. The mountains seem to block a lot of it. Thank you for the sweet afternoon visit. Hugs.

ReplyDeleteOh I do hope that it cools things down for you, Terry. I was not really expecting it to rain so much , but it was nice. I stayed up late last night working on the printer as did hubby and of course had some rounds with the printer today. I think I am getting the hang of it slowly. I am hoping my grandsons will come over this week and maybe show me some shortcuts. The kiddos know how to do anything . LOL . Have a wonderful evening. Hugs

The Hum of the Bees has been printed and is sitting waiting for a stitch out. yep - i guess you can say i am a true collector of cross stitch patterns. when i die my friend is going to have lots and lots of work ahead of her. i'm so sorry Debbie A.
i bet you enjoyed that rain so much. i wish we would get some rain here. it is dry as a bone. i don't like it one bit. i do hope we get some rain this fall/winter. do you get snow where you are? i'd love to live in a location that has snow. when i was young i grew up (born in california, moved to connecticut when i was four, returned to california when i was 12, and here i stayed) in connecticut and remember making snow angels. it was the absolute best. i also remember a not so fun time. i was very small when i was young (oh bring those days back please) and i walked to the school bus (yes school buses back then - loved it) and there was always one boy - Leroy White (why is it i remember him so well) - who would bombard me with snowballs. how dare he? eventually he would stop because i would start crying. the day came when he didn't do it anymore at all. heaven!!! ah!!! you always bring back the reminiscing in me!!!

ReplyDeleteOh, technology...always something new to mess with our peace and sanity, isn't there? I would choose the porch and listening to the rain. That would be such a welcome sound. We haven't had rain in what seems forever. Thank you for such a lovely stitch. So, so pretty. The clumping of so many caterpillars was sort of interesting and sort of creepy. What would cause that to happen? Maybe they all just hatched? Hmmm....

ReplyDeleteHorray for me, I never pass a free bee.....thank you so much and I never have any issues printing your patterns or saving them....I am about to start a haunted house by Witchy Stitch "A stitcher haunts here" for halloween. In the same WIP bag I have your beautiful Berry Bouquet and Blooms of Sunshine which I hope to work on also at the same time. I will be coop up with this heat we are having and wildfires in New Brunswick CANADA. We need alot of rain in the Atlantic provinces. Have fun with your quilties.....THANK YOU AGAIN. vivian
