Good Tuesday morning, Sweet Peas .
We have rain in the forecast all week. It just breaks my heart to hear of all of the suffering and loss due to the torrential rains in Texas. In fact , it is hard to see the photos; I cannot imagine the devastation. My thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected. ๐
Here in the holler, the summer rain will be welcomed though. Usually this time of the year they are just short pop up showers. The sprinkles will cut down my watering time in the gardens. Though I do admit, summer rain does leave a bit of mugginess in the air.
For the last few days, the garden has been my home! Yep, I have been spending every minute in them, pulling weeds, deadheading flowers and tending to the veggies.

Hi, this post brought a good laugh to me. The first pic showed a little cow, moo moo, nearly the same is in my kitchen. I found it when I was in the Netherlands together with my daughter. Yes it is a great disaster what's going on in Texas. I am so sorry for all the people and much more for the parents. Not much rain here in Germany. In my part they said rain for 2 says. But where???? We had some dark clouds and very little rain. You could count the drops. The forecast says more warm weather is coming.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy day, Gabi
Aaaw how sweet; I am glad the little cow creamer brought back warm memories shopping with your daughter, Gabi. I have an affection for the cow creamers. I had to go to the kitchen to see if this one had a stamp on it. It didn't but I have another that was marked made in Holland. I do hope the summer weather is not too harsh in your area. I am sure a moderate amount of rain would be nice. We ended up just having sprinkles today. We shall see what tomorrow brings. LOL. Warm hugs.
DeleteI came to see what you're presenting today and to wish you a happy Tuesday, Melisa!
ReplyDeleteI like your patriotic decor and I adore that new graphic of the garden being my home...I yearn for a small garden in the city.
In the summer, I practically live off salads and dressings, because that's where we meet.
A big hug to everyone affected by the Texas floods...a Big disgrace.
Hugs
Happy Tuesday , dear Isabel. I hope your day has been a good one. Oh I wish you could have a small garden to enjoy in the city even if it was just a few plants in pots. I am sure you would enjoy every minute working with the plants. I think summer salads are the best; everything is so fresh. Have a blessed day, sweet friend. Hugs.
DeleteYour quilt blocks are looking good, Melisa. Heat, humidity, and possibility of showers/storms are in our forecast all week here as well. Makes for some good stitching time. Stay cool and hydrated!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Robin. I am moving these blocks right along. We received a few sprinkles and most of the day was overcast; it was pretty pleasant thankfully. LOL Have a wonderful afternoon. Hugs.
DeleteThe watermelon decor will be very nice, perfect for the hot muggy days of July and August.
ReplyDeleteIt has been awhile since I have pulled out the watermelon decor so it will be a nice change. We ate our 1st watermelon the other day. It was sweet and refreshing. Have a great week, Gretchen. Hugs.
DeleteWe have been getting rain too, and it for sure leaves it humid. Just last night I told DH that at least we don't have to water anything then. Your kitchen sink blocks will be a very cute quilt. My heart is heavy for all the lives lost and devastation in Texas, I can't imagine.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the short summer showers just for the fact it makes garden work light. But the humidity can be stifling . I am having a ball working on the kitchen sink blocks. The are super quick and simple which I love. Thank you for the sweet visit. Have a great rest of the week and stay cool. Hugs.
DeleteDouble Stuff is so pretty! Your fresh salads sound wonderful. Hope you get lots of good rain and low temps this week.
ReplyDeleteI have decided to stop watching videos and looking at photos of the devastation in central Texas and simply pray and send my positive thoughts. I was watching a video of the roaring Guadalupe last night and heard someone say "there's a cat", and I had to stop watching. I cannot handle thinking about those helpless critters that perished - along with children and couples and all those caught up in the catastrophic flooding. It is unthinkable.
Oh Linda, I have had to stop looking at the photos and news footage too; it weighs on my heart . I talked to my dd who said the nearby communities are pulling together with volunteers to give aid. Double Stuff is a sweetie. She is a proud mama and has been a joy to watch with her babies. Hugs and Blessings.
DeleteI have a Quaker Oats tin on my shelf in the kitchen because I still use the oatmeal cookie recipe that is on the back. I took a sharpie and made notes on the tin with my changes to the recipe.
ReplyDeleteOh how fun, Patty. I love tins especially when they have recipes on them. I found a shortening tin last year that was covered with recipes. That is a great idea on using the sharpie to make notes for your recipe. I will have to remember that. Thank you for the sweet Tuesday visit. Hugs.
DeleteThis time of year the sentiment on your stitchery is spot on! Your kitchen sink books look great together!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Terry. Today I was able to take a break from the garden with just a short stint in it, but I do enjoy my gardens so much. Have a fabulous afternoon. Hugs.
DeleteWhere is the Jane Shuff sampler from in your hutch?
ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much for asking about the Jane Shuff sampler. I haven't published that one yet, but I will try to post it soon when I write it up. I stitched that one a few years ago and have never put it out. I am so humbled and grateful that you like it. Have a blessed day. Warm hugs.
DeleteLike you, my heart goes out to those poor flood victims in Texas. The thought of all those innocent girls and their families just breaks my heart. I have been driven to tears as I've read some of the stories--just can't imagine. It's raining here today, but only lightly. Hope you get the rain you need without any troubles. I look forward to seeing your Hum of the Bees piece take shape :) Take care now and enjoy your week ♥
ReplyDeleteThe children breaks my heart too, Carol; it is such a tragedy ; all I can do is pray. We had a few sprinkles not the light showers we expected, but more is in the forecast. Thank you for the sweet Tuesday visit. Hugs.

ReplyDeleteI have totally enjoyed all of your posts this past week or so. Love the farm pictures and the great finds that you had during your travels. I hope your computer troubles are fixed soon, i understand computer issues! Love the picture of your beautiful kitty, Double Stuff. Thanks for the doodle today, I have to do this one for a special neighbor. Prayers for all the victims of the flooding and anyone that needs a comforting thought. Sending you warm hugs from Arizona.
Aaw shucks , thank you so much, dear Mary. I feel like I have been off my groove with little to post, so it warms my heart to hear you have enjoyed what I have posted. You just made my day. Hubby and I have been on the search for a new printer. Mine is about 15 years old so I guess it has done its do . LOL, but it is always an ordeal for me to learn something new in respect to technology ( I am plumb tech dumb LOL). I wish you a lovely week and stay as cool as possible. Warm summertime hugs.
DeleteThe blue and white things in your first photo are all so sweet and fun, Melisa! I love the garden doodle, too. I have been spending some time in my garden lately, too, and harvested some green beans and a cucumber the other day. Yum! I'll enjoy seeing all your watermelon decor!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it feel good to be out and about bustling in the garden? Ooh green beans sound delightful. It has been ages since I have had fresh green beans. And yum on the cucumbers- they are my favorite. Thank you for the sweet Tuesday visit. Hugs.
DeleteHi Melissa. I always look forward to your posts! I’m happy you’ll be decorating with “watermelon” items - my favorite fruit! I stitched up your Winter SAL motifs earlier this year and finished it into a wall hanging. I have started the Spring SAL and have the Autumn SAL kitted up. Do you think you might create a Summer SAL to complete the four seasons?? I know I’d love that. Looking forward to your future musings. ❤️
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon, Barbara. It is so good to hear from you. It is so exciting to hear that you have been stitching on my previous SAL's . Oh yes, I do want to do a Summer SAL. I have some ideas but for some reason I am stalled on it. I am hoping I will get motivated when I receive a new printer so I can make the charts easier. We shall see, but I am going to do one hopefully in the near future. Thank you for bringing a warm smile to my day and for the sweet encouragement. Your kindness really means the world to me. Hugs and Blessings.
