Howdy, ya'll. Welcome!
Do you have your needle and thread in hand? It is Slow Stitching Sunday. The perfect day to sit back, relax and enjoy weaving your needle in and out of fabric.
I have my project in the hoop and ready to go. Do you remember this quilt top that I showed you last month? It is the one that I purchased at a yard sale that was partially quilted. I think I will call it my Alabama Beauty Quilt since I bought it in Alabama.
Anywhoo , this has been my Wednesday project, but today, I will move the hoop.
The quilter was quilting 1/4" around each triangle which I am doing the same. These last few weeks my needle has meandered among shirtings and sweet calicos of reds, blues and browns. In my mind, I have made up stories of the sweet maker cutting up her husband's worn shirt or bits of dressing material to use in this quilt. π€
I did make a small patch for a pinhole . I am using a soft pink quilting thread just like the original quilter did.
Today the quilt hoop will moved to a row of browns, blues and pinks.
Later in the evening I will begin working on my Mini Pumpkins Sampler cross stitch which I shared yesterday.
Speaking of cross stitch I want to thank everyone again for all of the kind words about my Pumpkin Blossom Inn. I can not thank you enough for the amazing response to it.
Ann @annmakesthings on Instagram has organized a SAL . Oh, how sweet and supportive she is. If you would like to join in, check Ann out on IG and grab the chart which I posted on Sept. 12, 2023.
My Fall stitching has been pulled out and some of been placed in displays.
The Fall banner was a gift from my sweet friend , Patricia. Thank you , sweet Patricia. |
I will continue tweaking my displays throughout the month.
How about another quick stitch? I worked on this little Halloween stamp last night. It is called Three Happy Jacks Stamp.
It is a "Choose Your Own Colors " chart, but if you are interested in the colors that I used, they were DMC 3829, 469, 301,921, white , 310, 898, 3853,
As Always...
Happy Stitching and Quilting, ya'll
Melisa
Thank you for the sweet visit.

ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Robin. It has been a very lovely day, but late evening I was able to enjoy some quilting time. Hope you had a very lovely evening stitching. Hugs.
DeleteI love the idea of making up stories about the fabrics in your Alabama Beauty quilt. I can imagine men's shirts, boy's pajamas, little girl's school dresses, aprons, and maybe a Sunday church dress for Momma. Thanks for rescuing the quilt. All those triangles! Kris
ReplyDeleteP.S. I was paging through your past blog-posts and came across a picture of an apron hanging on your hutch. It was made from red fabric with patchwork-style mushrooms printed on it. I used the very same fabric to make bedroom curtains in our beige, beige, beige, and brown apartment when we were first married! Oh, how they brightened up the room! Thanks for the giggle! Kris
Kris I have been having a ball working on this quilt. It is such a delight to look over the fabrics. Oh how fun about the red fabric from the apron. That just makes me smile. I bought that apron at the Goodwill years ago. It is one of my favorites. I am so glad it brought back some fond memories. Have a great week and thank you for the sweet visit.. Hugs.
DeleteI just love your three jacks Melisa!!! Oh my I need to hurry to be able to stitch this one as well!

DeleteYou scored big at that yard sale. I love at the prints in it. Awesome job with the small patch. I love to look at your displays; I especially love Pumpkin Blossom Inn. So cute! Bravo! ;^)
ReplyDeleteWe had a fabulous time going to the yard sales, Chantal and I was over the moon to be able to get the quilt at a thrifty price. Aaah thank you so much for the kind words on my displays and on Pumpkin Blossom Inn. It was a joy to work on. Have a blessed day . Hugs.
DeleteWhat a sweet little pumpkin stamp! Thank you! Those curly stems make me smile. I actually have a pumpkin of decent size this year in the garden. It is turning to a beautiful orange. The AL Beauty quilt is so lovely. It was a lucky day when you found it and now it will be finished and cherished as it should be.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday, Ginny. Aah thank you so much on my little pumpkin stamp. I adore curly pumpkin stems. Oh I how exciting to have a nice pumpkin growing in your garden. Hmm are you going to make a pie from it when it is ready to harvest? It would be so yummy. Sadly we did not have pumpkins in the garden this year. I regret I didn't plant any. Thank you for the sweet visit Hugs.
DeleteWhat a fun idea to make up stories about the maker of the Alabama Beauty quilt! It is definitely a beauty!! Great job on the patch, and I love your quilting! Thanks for another cute quick stitch! I really have to find some threads to make the Pumpkin Blossom Inn!
