A very bright and sunny hello to you , Sweet peas! It is another beautiful rainy day! 🌧☔ Oh yes, the skies have opened up and it is raining cats and dogs. So you know what that means- a perfect day to sit in my jammies and stitch and quilt.
It's been a blue moon or two since I have participated in Angela's So Scrappy Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Well I am going to try to get back on track. This month's color is one of my favorites "Yellow".
Earlier this week, I told you about the glorious bags of fabric that my nephew brought me. Well buried in the Christmas fabric was golden yellow fall fabrics- just perfect to play with. I cut lots of strips and made a number of simple blocks to go into a future quilt.

A few Nine patches and Churn Dashes- never can go wrong making these blocks.
My blocks measure 9 1/2" unfinished. They look more orange in the photo, but when I look at them I see golden yellow. Did you notice the Winnie the Pooh fabric being used as a neutral? I am hoping it will get lost when I combine the blocks with lots of other scrappy happy blocks.
Hmmm my blocks blend right in with the Design Floor. 😀💛 I do not have a Design Wall ( That wall real estate is taken over by stitching and loads of country clutter. 😅😂)
Many of ya'll know I am on a sunflower kick right now sooooo... I stitched Sunflower Basket which I shared last year in my Summer Days Quilt. I cut 2 1/2" strips of fabric to frame the embroidery .
I think I will make it into a pillow. What do you think? Pillow? or Mini Quilt?
Speaking of Sunflowers, I fully finished my Mini Sunflower Sampler. This was a Choose Your Own Colors chart, but if you are interested, I used DMC 469, 782, and 898. Thrifted yarn was twisted and whipstitched down for the trim. Isn't it darling?
I am on a roll on finding cigar boxes at the thrift stores. This cigar box is green and oh so pretty. So just like I did with some of my bee stitches , I snuggled my mini samplers in the box. There is only 1 of the 5 that I have not shared yet. The mini samplers shown are Mini Sunflower Sampler , Mini Bee Sampler , Shamrock Mini Sampler and Red Heart Mini Sampler

Well that's what is going on in the holler today. Earlier today I made my daily rounds of visiting family members and now I a home ready to see what kind of quilting and stitching mischief I can get into. Or I just may take down my hutch decor and redo it. Hmmm that's an idea. Anywhooo... I hope you have a super Saturday and ....

Sunflowers are always happy looking! A pillow would be a great sunny addition to any room decor. I hope your rain has passed, as mine mostly has, and you have a happy night and Sabbath!
ReplyDeleteSunflowers are one of my favorites though I have little success growing them. Lol. I think I will make it into a pillow. It will be cute to sit out for the summer and part of fall. Have a very lovely evening. Hugs.
DeleteRain off an on here too. Makes it difficult to get outside into the gardens to work when all is dripping wet. Sunflowers are always a happy thing to work on. Must be good to eat too because all the bugs and critters seem to like to nibble mine. Fun assortment of golden yellow 9 inch blocks.

ReplyDeleteOh my , I just love your header, Susie. Is that one of your flowers from the garden? It is gorgeous. I have been enjoying adding the yarn as trim. I just take 2 or 3 strands of yarn and whip stitch the ends to the seam and then just start twisting and pinning and slowly whip stitch each side. I am getting quicker each time that I do it . Hope you are having a super weekend. Hugs.

DeleteSome lovely stitches showcased in these photos. I think a pillow would be nice of your sunflower stitch. Did you know that sunflowers will follow the sun during the day? As the day progresses their face keep turning. That fact always amazes me. Your new yellow quilt blocks are so warm and wonderful. Yes, I saw the Poo fabric! Fun!
