Happy Fall Ya'll - Squirreling Around - A Fall Freebie.

Eeeh!!! Can you believe it! The first day of Fall. How did it get to this time of the year so quick?

Hello Fall  freebie that I shared in 2020.

Oh, how I do love Fall! Well I know some of ya'll are experiencing cooler temps and maybe even some signs of Fall. Here in the holler it was a steamy 96 degrees yesterday - that's still swimsuit weather for me.  Hmmm! I wonder if we will  have those  summer temps. today.  A few leaves have began to fall though.

What kind of fall fun do you have planned for the season? Pumpkin or apple pickin' ? Corn mazes? Or are you just  going to enjoy all that the season brings forth?
Little Bits Pumpkin Haul finished on a Dollar Tree blackboard.

I am looking forward to picking pears at mom's when they ripen as well as the persimmons. The kiddos will probably go to a pumpkin patch and of course there is fall ball that we are already enjoying.  Hubby will have some hunts, and I will tag along if there is a camping involved.  And of course there is fall stitching and quilting.

Well today I am feeling a bit squirrely.

1803 Autumn House  and Squirrel Stamp

I have a fondness for squirrels. I think I may have told you that before. I know they are rodents and they get in the bird feeders and can create quite a mess especially if they get in your attic , but gosh, just look at that furry face. Lol.

Any whooo! My squirrels have not been scampering near the house lately . I guess they are enjoying their time in the woods.

Today I wanted to share a stitch with you that I worked on last year. It is called Squirreling Around.

A wee  stitchin squirrel resting on a spool of thread with her needle . Of course the fall leaves, acorns and scissors are not too far away as well. Now if I was to stitch it today, I think I would change the thread color of the spool. What color would you choose?

If you are interested in this stitch, I hope you will be able to save and print the chart. NOTE:  At the bottom of the post I also pasted the instruction page and the symbol chart using a different method. You might try both charts to see which is the best in saving.

Many of you know , but I always like to leave this little disclaimer.

I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding that I  have to put each page on separate links because of the devices I use. I apologize for that.  These are images of the chart  or JPG s and not downloads.   I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and for stitching my little designs.

Of course I am still having tech troubles ; I posted about that yesterday which explains why my charts are not being posted like usual. Click here for a better explanation.  But many dear stitchers said they were able to click and save it as an image and then print it. Thank you so much for all of the kind words and encouragement in helping me get through these tech issues. I am so grateful to all of you. Isn't this such a wonderful community? 🤗

I finished  mine into a simple pillow with  Walmart white chenille trim that I  tea dyed and twisted as cording .

Did you notice my homemade acorns?

Two years ago, hubby and I went on a camping trip and I found these large acorn caps at the campground. I gathered bookoos of them. I think I will make  few more acorn pincushions today. They are super easy with scraps of fabric and a bit of polyfil and glue.

I hope your first day of fall is a beautiful day filled with blessings. Now let's go chase some squirrels!!

 As always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll

Melisa

I don't have ducks in a row- I have squirrels and they are everywhere!

Hugs and Stitches!!!!🤗🧵❤

Dedicated to my baby sister , Amy. I love and miss you Amo . I remember when you was nipped by a little squirrel.

  2. Love what you did with the huge acorn caps you found. Wow, those are big. I bet every time you see one you think of the fun times you had on that camping trip with Mr. Pinker. I'm so sentimental like that. :). Happy stitching.

  4. Thanks for the cute new pattern, Melisa! While I agree squirrels are cute, we have so many trees around our house that they do get in our attic and drive us (and the dog) CRAZY!! I'm afraid to look and see what sort of damage they have done up there! I love those giant acorn caps!! We have LOTS of smaller ones, but haven't seen any that size in our woods. I've also seen them filled with wool. But I like the fabric fill too! Have a great weekend!

    1. Happy Fall , Brenda. Thank you so much for the sweet visit and kind words. Goodness, we have been fortunate that the squirrels have not made their way into the attic. One time we did have a Flying Squirrel make its way into the house. It was an adventure just to get it out. Lol . I would love to make some wool filled acorn pincushions too. Those are so cute. Have a great weekend. Happy quilting.

    1. Happy Spring, Jenny. I hope the weather is warming up and there are lots of signs of spring. I have never seen such large acorn caps as these and was fortunate to find them while camping. That is a fabulous idea on the Christmas fabric. I will have to do that. Thank you so much for the idea. Have a great weekend. Hugs

  10. What happened there? I was going to say that you could finish off the acorns with Christmas fabric and put them in a little bowl as ornaments.

  12. Oh my! This weekend I'm going to try to dye my fabric so I can finally start stitching, you have so many designs and I have so little time but I have to make one of your manors and I also love this Fall design with the squirrel. And your homemade acorns! Though the ones I get around here have small caps, I definitely will try to do it too, thank you for sharing!

    1. I am so excited Diana! I so hope that you enjoy dyeing your fabric and look forward to hearing which manor you choose. I was very fortunate to find those large acorn caps. The ones around our house are small too, but would look oh so cute as teeny pincushions. Have a very lovely weekend, Diana.

  13. Fall is my favorite season. The weather is just perfect for squirrel watching out on the back porch with some handwork and a cuppa. Your squirrel design is lovely. Computers can be frustrating!

    1. Oh, Sue I love to do the same thing. I was hoping to sit on the porch and quilt a bit today but alas that didn't happen. Maybe tomorrow. Wishing you a very happy Fall and happy stitching.

  14. Your grey squirrel pictures reminded me of the squirrel, Skippy, at my Granddad & Grandma's in OH. He had a perch on the outside of the kitchen window that was kept stocked with treats for him. It was so fun to watch him sitting there munching right on the other side of the glass and not a bit afraid of us. Thanks, Melisa, for bringing that to mind. I haven't thought of Skippy in years! The sewing squirrel pattern would make an adorable pincushion. Thank you!

    1. Aah what a delightful memory, Ginny. It sounds like Skippy was well loved and very entertaining. How fun to be able to see it up close and personal as it ate as well. I have named one of mine too- Sandie , but she is still skiddish. Have a great weekend. .
