Welcome back, Sweet Peas.
I won't keep you long. I just wanted to show you my update on my Roundabout quilt. The blocks are coming along.
"Bees and Blooms" is the 8th block in the series . Buzz ! Buzz!
Graphic from Pinterest.
I used 2 strands of floss and used the backstitch for most of the stitch.
But I also used the following stitches:
๐ Lazy Daisy Stitch for the leaves, Bee balm blooms and the bees' wings
๐ Small satin stitch for the bees' heads and stripes.

I used the following floss colors:
๐ DMC 898 ( bee skep bench)
๐ DMC 782 ( bee skep)
๐ DMC 3346 (flower stem and leaves)
๐ DMC 3777 (Bee balm blooms)
๐ DMC 3799 ( bees, bee skep hole)
๐DMC 930 ( scalloped border)
My doodles are hand drawn and are never perfect. ❤
Here are all of my stitched blocks laid out on my design floor. As you can see, I have already framed in my embroidery block for next month's stitch . I will be working on it today.
I am still considering making these blocks bigger , but I have made no definite plans.

DeleteOh my, these blocks are so pretty! I have to make this, it will help me use of embroidery flosses I keep finding at second hand stores and I've accumulated quite a bit. Thank you for sharing your talents.
ReplyDeleteAaaw I am so excited and grateful that you are adding this to your stitching list. I hope you enjoy each of the little blocks. Isn't it wonderful when you find flosses and threads at the second hand stores? Sometimes I am lucky enough to find some myself. Have a blessed and beautiful day and please keep me posted on how you enjoy these humble little doodles. Hugs.
DeleteThey are looking AMAZING!!!
ReplyDeleteAaw shucks! Thank you Alycia. I am moving right along on these little pieces. Hopefully , next month's block will be completed soon. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs.
DeleteLooking good! Nay Great!!!!! We were asked to bring our "first" quilt to quilt guild and I couldn't find it but found the pillow - all embroidered blocks from the 1950's, when to be a proper lady we had certain things we had to know. I love embroidery but don't do much anymore. But you have inspired me to add some "texture" to my quilts. Thanks as always for the wonderful photos as well!
ReplyDeleteAaw I bet your pillow is just beautiful. I would be interested in knowing what type of design you embroidered on your quilt and matching pillow. Though I am not very good at embroidery since I broke my hand years ago, I still enjoy it and I adore vintage pieces. I have some embroidered table scarves and pillowcases from my great grandma's and distant relatives. They are such a joy to look at. They bring back fond memories. I am sure many fond memories poured back when you located your pillow. Thank you for the sweet visit, dear. You brought a smile to my day. Hugs.
DeleteVery nice month by month embroideries! I always love blocks with bees! Gail at the cozy quilter
ReplyDeleteAaw thank you so much, Gail. I have been working on the September block this evening. It is a good project to work on while watching TV. I hope your day has been a lovely one. Hugs.
DeleteThe bees and blooms roundabout is so sweet. I love the lazy daisies for the leaves. The whole quilt is going to be amazing.
