Mr. Pinker hooked up Big Red to the trailer toting the rusty Ole' Truck Camper. We were back on the road if only for a few days. It felt good to be back in the little truck camper - snug as a bug in a rug. Of course, I brought a few projects to keep my nimble fingers .
As Mr. Pinker puttered on down the bumpy road to our destination which was only a few short hours away, I finished the May Flowers Roundabout .

I used 2 strands of floss and used the backstitch, lazy daisy stitch for the leaves and French knots for the delicate flowers.
I used the following floss colors:
πΊDMC 3802 ( coneflower petals),
πΊ DMC 3687( coneflower center)
πΊ DMC 469( coneflower stem and leaves)
πΊDMC 470 ( Cup shaped flower stems and leaves)
πΊDMC 961 (Cup flower #1)
πΊ 931 ( Cup flower # 2)
πΊ DMC 986 ( Delicate vine)
πΊ DMC 783 ( small flowers on vine ; stitched in French knots and French knots at end of Cup Flower's Stamens )
πΊ DMC 312 ( scalloped border)
The Roundabout was stitched on 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" (unfinished) white fabric.
It is framed with 20 - 2 1/2" squares (unfinished)
The Roundabout Block with Scrappy Borders Measures: 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" ( unfinished)

We stopped only twice to get groceries and for a burger at Jack's and then onward we went.
Once at camp ( well it really wasn't a camp site- we were at a tractor pull so it was a parking space, but anywhooo...) Once at camp, Mr. Pinker pulled in among the rigs as I bustled about in Ole' Rusty the Truck Camper.
Soon Mr. Pinker lifted my huge "Harbor Freight " bag filled to the brim with floss and project bags. "Now there is no way you can work on that many projects in just a few days, " he said smiling as he shook his head.
"Well, this ole' gal is going to give it a try. Now heave hove that big old bag up here. "
Mr. Pinker lifted the monstrous bag to the truck camper bed where I proceeded to pull out project bags to see what struck my fancy to work on.
Hmmm... I thought. "I better start with the Summer Stamp SAL , " I said aloud. Mr. Pinker paid me no attention as he was lost in his train of thought as he set up the camper . He then went out to mill around and look at the tractors. This meant I had plenty of down time to stitch the evening away.
Stitch . Stitch. Stitch.
Later the tractor engines were roaring and the dirt was flying.
I left the seclusion of my cozy camper and joined Mr. Pinker at the track. Soon I was cheering. Rah! Rah! Rah!
Note to myself: Invest in some ear plugs. ππ Wowzers the pulls are loud!
But let's talk about other things. Like my newest finish.π€
Buttermilk Basin's "Pieced Strawberry Pin Cushion".
This little pin pillow whipped up as quick as a wink.
And I finished appliqueing another strawberry block.

Hmm.... What Should I do This Week?

Tractor pulls are noisy! They are fun too! I'm glad you and Mr. Pinker had a great time. You made awesome progress on your few days away. You are wise to pack it all. . .who knows which project is going to be "the" one when you make the time to stitch!
ReplyDeleteWe had a great time, Terry, but yes they are noisy. LOL. You are so right. I would rather pack too much and have lots to choose from than run out of projects to work on. Thank you for the sweet Monday visit. Hugs.
DeleteMy, my I do believe you enjoyed the tractor pull. Dang they are loud!! Now I understand what was going on. Off in the distance I could hear little voices. It was making me crazy. It was your fingers limbering up to git her dun. LOL Enjoy going to Walmart. Hugs, DarleneJ
ReplyDeleteLOL. We had a grand ole time, Miss Darlene, but I am sure glad I brought some projects to work on while Mr. Pinker walked around and visited. It sure was good to be back in the camper even if it was for a short time. Happy Monday, sweet friend. Hugs.
DeleteNever been to a tractor pull, but I know tractors can be really loud! So glad you had your bag of projects to work on in your spare time.
ReplyDeleteI had never heard or been to tractor pulls until hubby introduced them to me. He loves going, but they are loud. Having the projects to work on made good of my down time. Thank you for the sweet visit, Vicki. Hugs.
DeleteI remember going to the local fair in IN and boy was it noisy but FUN! We're on our summer trip - AL, PA, through to WY, back to AL then home. Glad you enjoyed your trip! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteWow you are going on a nice long trip, Donna. It sounds so wonderful. I miss being on the road. The short trips will have to suffice right now for us. I wish you safe travels and many adventures. Hugs.
DeleteEnjoy reading all your adventures. I too overpack my stitchy bag. Hugs
ReplyDeleteIt is better to be safe than sorry on packing projects. Right? LOL. Aaw thank you so much for bringing a smile to my day and for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteI admire all you ladies who can sew while being driven, I think it takes a lot of talent. But since I was little, I've always enjoyed just looking at every single thing I can find out my window - lol! Your May flowers are very pretty. Glad you got to go thrifting!
ReplyDeleteLOL every now and then I get a few things done while riding, but I completely understand about enjoying the view while traveling. You never know what you might see. Right? Thank you so much for the sweet Monday visit, Linda. Hugs.
DeleteYour strawberry pin cushion is just as cute as can be! Another pretty roundabout finished and another in the works! I'm loving how they look. Hope you're having a nice little getaway even if only for a few days. π❤️
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Susie. The strawberry Pinkeep whipped up in no time and I am loving the roundabouts. We had a wonderful time away; I just wished we could have stayed a bit longer. Have a blessed week. Hugs.
DeleteYou have certainly accomplished a lot - it was a good thing you took a lot of projects for consideration. Everything looks great. I haven’t been to a tractor pull for a very long time, but I remember the noise and excitement. It sounds like Mr. Pinker and you have a good time. Can’t wait to see the treasures you found. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Alicia
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday, Alicia. I hope you had a great weekend. We had a grand time at the pull but yes, it was loud. It was nice to get a few things completed while away. I wish you a lovely week and thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteI hadn't heard of tractor pulling, I had to look it up. Just looking at the photos I can imagine the noise! Your May Flower stitchery is so cute, and the pincushion too!
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of tractor pulling either until hubby introduced me to it. It is interesting and loud. Some tractors and trucks are louder than others, but it was fun. I was happy I took a few things to work on while waiting though. Have a wonderful evening, Astrid and thank you for dropping by. Hugs.
DeleteWe were off rambling over the weekend, too, but unlike you, I didn't pack any stitching. And I missed it! Back to the sewing and stitching today, however. Your May Flowers roundabout is so pretty, and the strawberry pincushion - adorable! Have a wonderful day, Melisa!
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to enjoy a few days away in the camper, Melisa. The tractor pull sounds fun! I can imagine how loud it is!! I'm glad you were able to stitch some while you were there - it wouldn't be you if you didn't! LOL These are really cute little projects. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings! Have a great week, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI agree that taking a veriety of projects along was the best thing for several days of stitching. Oh, yes, earplugs are definitely needed for tractor pulls. Glad you both had a fun time away. Everything you worked on turned out so nice. Pooh is such a wise bear.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting set up for your truck camper. :) Do you find that you bump your heads as you go in and out? Thanks for sharing your stitching. Such sweet scenes. Thanks for joining Sew & Tell.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a tractor pull in years. Looks like you got lots done while hanging out between pulls.
