Hello , Sunshine! How are you doing on this fine Sunday in July? The weather has been fairly mild this week. It has rained cats and dogs off an on all week. Hmm, I wonder if it will rain today? Hee! Hee! I hope so!

Please excuse me. I failed to offer you a sweet summer treat to eat as we visit. Please do grab a plate and a slice of Oreo Dump Cake.
Can I tempt you with a dollop of ice cream as well.? One scoop or two? It is Blue Bunny's Cookies and Creme! - Quite delicious, if I do say so myself.
Mr. Pinker visited his family last weekend and came home with a slice of this ooey gooey treat just for me! Aaah how sweet! But alas, temptation took over, and he gobbled it down before I ever got a taste. 😋😋😂 That was ok though.
Soooo after digging through the pantry, and finding we did have the ingredients on hand, I made one just for us to enjoy!
EASY OREO DUMP CAKE
INGREDIENTS:
1 package of Oreos
1 stick of butter cut into slices /pats
1 ( 14 oz. ) can of sweetened condensed milk
1 ( 8 oz. ) container of Cool Whip
1 (15. 25 oz. ) chocolate cake mix
DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Lightly grease a 9" x 13" baking dish.
3. Arrange 20 Oreos on the bottom of the baking dish. Reserve at least 6 Oreos for topping.
4. Pour sweetened condensed over the Oreos.
5. Top with whipped topping and spread evenly.
6. Sprinkle the cake mix over sweetened condensed milk
7. Distribute the pats of butter over the cake mix evenly.
8. Crush the 6 reserved Oreos and sprinkle over the top of the cake.
9. Bake in oven for 40-45 minutes.
You must serve warm because it is harder to scoop out of the pan as it cools and hardens. But you can warm it back up.
Optional: Top with ice cream when serving.

21 more blocks to go! But hopefuly, I can knock another block off the list today.

Not much stitching this week. Hard work in the garden. Now little pain in my back. Resting and being a bit sporting. Watching the Tour de France :):):). The countryside of France is always beautiful. Weather at the moment very hot, have my lazy days with Limocellocake and a cup of coffee.

Good morning, Gabi . It sounds like you have had a very busy week. I bet your garden is so lovely but the work is never ending isn't it? I have been weeding myself. Oh I have missed the Tour de France. I will have to check to see if it is being aired here. I bet it is so lovely in France this time of the year though it is hot. ReplyDeleteIt hasn't rained in Seville for more than two months and the heat is being suffocating these days, with a wave of warm African air that surrounds us.
I enjoyed your sewing work and Mr Pinker's romantic detail of bringing you a piece of cake....even if he was tempted, the intention is what counts...mmmm I'm writing down your delicious recipe!!!

DeleteWhat a beautiful strawberry quilt! I love sewing and cross stitching but have never gotten into making a quilt. My daughter gave me the crib bumper that all three of her daughters used and I took it apart and cut out squares to make a quilt - I need to get busy on that one day! You inspire me. I saw a post on Pinterest and in the Needle & Thread cross stitch design it showed a fall house you were working on with a scarecrow and wagon, corn stalks, white picket fence - it was featured on Instagram June 2021 and that you were working on the design - did you ever complete that adorable house design? I have stitched up several of your saltbox designs, stamps and the seasonal chicken designs - I keep changing those out in a frame on my sewing table - cannot get enough of your adorable and creative cross stitch pattens. ReplyDeleteHi Carrie. Thank you so much for the sweet compliment on my strawberry quilt. It holds lots of fond memories. There is scraps of fabric from my girls' clothing, and other special pieces. What a special quilt yours will be using the fabric of the baby bumper ; how clever. It is so exciting to hear that you are going to try your hand at quilting. I know you will do an amazing job. Please keep me updated on how it goes as you work on your quilt once you begin. I am so touched that you asked about that house. It is called the "Harvest House" . ReplyDeleteThe dump cakes are so easy and not a lot of clean up is involved as well. I did not know how this would be considering that it had to be heated up to eat, but it was oh so yummy. It has been nice to have the rain each evening and has been wonderful for my gardens. Oooh Autumn Leaves is a wonderful slow stitching project. I hope that you enjoy each stitch. DeleteI just love your strawberry quilt! The dump cake looks yummy too but since hubby no longer is able to eat (he has a Gtube) I don't make many desserts anymore for myself. Maybe that's a good thing?? I am losing a little weight and eat fresh fruits instead if I want a sweet treat.

ReplyDeleteWe had a hard rain last night, Ginny. It filled up my rain barrel which was running low . I was thrilled . I have already pulled out another because of the low rumbles of thunder. It has been cloudy and in the 80's today. But I fear we will pay for it and have a hot hot August. Oh yes the cake was very decadent- chocolate overload indeed but yummy. I bet your daughter would like it. I hope you are staying as cool as possible. I wish I could send some of the rain you way. Hugs.
