Down the Rabbit Hole

Good morning, dear friends.  Grab you a cup of tea or coffee and a plate of freshly baked raspberry coffee cake. I would like to say that the cake is  homemade, but alas it is not. But I promise  you, it is still downright yummy. πŸ˜‹πŸ΅

Well it certainly is a beautiful day and I have some hexies to work on.

I never intended to work on a hexie quilt until I finished my yo yo quilt, but I came down right smitten when I saw Diann's quilt at  Little Penguin's Quilts.   I just could not get it out of my noggin'  . So down the rabbit hole I went with hexies dancing in my head. πŸ°πŸ‡πŸ•³

If you click the link, you can see Diann's quilt which is as cute a button, but beware for you may find yourself falling down the same rabbit hole. Thank you Diann for the sweet inspiration and enablement. πŸ˜€❤

Graphic from the Graphic Fairy
Joy at Days Filled With Joy is hosting another wonderful free stitch along. This one is  a Winter stitch. Each week on Friday she releases  a small segment of the stitchery. I will be working on catching up on mine today.  I have completed the stitching in 2 of her SAL's.

I completed my 2nd ornament for the #12in23stitchalong hosted by Carol at Stitching Dreams. It is one of Prairie Schooler "A Merry Mini Surprise Santa".

I would like to say that I am doing the happy dance, but alas, I am not  . Why ? you ask. Well,  I do not like my finish. So I have learned a lesson  : NEVER FULLY FINISH A STITCH WHEN I AM TIRED. Lol. Yep! I was plumb tuckered when I finished this one and it shows. πŸ˜„πŸ₯΄  I didn't stretch the fabric good enough  and.... Oh well, I could go on and on, but I won't.  But on the bright side-  with all of the boo boos it I still think this wee Santa is going to look pretty stinking cute on my tree come December.

Speaking of Christmas - Christmas Alert !!! 323 Days until Christmas .  "Booo!!!" some of you may be saying ." Don't speak of Christmas this early! " πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜‚  Mark my word it will be here in no time.

Kathleen Tracy of the Sentimental Quilter is hosting another sweet free Valentine QAL like she did last year.  This was last year's quilt that I completed.

Well I gathered in my fabrics earlier this week. Reds ,  pinks, and neutrals !

Step 1 is completed. Lots of cute HST. I will finish Step 2 today for tomorrow she will give the next step. I love how she gives small doable steps that do not take long at all.

It's To Do List Time!!

  2. Nothing wrong with a good rabbit hole! I like them myself. You just never know who you will meet down there. =) I've been down the hexagon rabbit hole many times in the last 45 years! Still have some projects unfinished. Might need a whole year of UFO days to finish all of them!

  3. The Santa stitchery looks fine to me. If someone looks closely at it and tells you it's not perfect, that person is really not your friend! Going to check out the hexies now which I probably shouldn't since I'm already working on a hexie project.

  4. I love that you are working on a yo-yo quilt. I have one that I repaired - my great grandfather made a yo-yo...well...I'm not sure what to call it since it's yo-yos on the top and one piece of fabric on the bottom. I guess just a coverlet for the bed? It's in storage right now.
Love rabbit holes - but when I look up to see the time, it's like wow! Oops! LOL!

  13. The one downside of blogging is all the temptation to start all the cool projects you see on other blogs. Your Santa looks good, hopefully by the time Christmas is here, you've forgotten what irks you now about the finish. Happy stitching this week.

  15. That raspberry coffee cake looks yummy - I would have a big fat pat of butter melting on mine. Your hexies are pretty - and yes, Diann is quite the enabler! All your Valentine-y fabrics are so pretty. Sometimes I get really fed up with Blogger for all the issues it has created the last year or so. But I am not impressed with Wordpress, and I can't figure out how to host myself, so I stick with it!

  19. Hi Melissa. This is another wonderful post filled with goodies to send any of us down rabbit holes, or in my case, have my inner squirrel, Samantha chattering st me. I too fell in love with EPP last year and have a fun hexie project that I work on in between other projects or when I just need to sit for a bit. Im so sorry you can't comment on my post. I have the same issue with some blogs and have found that if I change browsers (or even computers) it some times works/. Thank you for linking with To Do Tuesday and sharing all of the links to various rabbit holes. Have fun this week and good luck with your list.

This is the 1st time that I have worked on an EPP and I am loving every minute of it. I think I figured out how to comment on your blog so fingers crossed I will be able to do so on your next post. Thank you again for the sweet visit. Happy quilting.
