Dreaming of Fall

 I'm dreaming...

of orange, gold and rusty browns...

of leaves dropping to the ground...

of quilts here..

 quilts there...

of  quilts laying everywhere.

I'm dreaming of quirky squirrels gathering nuts

of jack-o-lanterns with glowing eyes.

Halloween Jar

Yes, I am dreaming of that time of year where I can scream Autumn's here.

Are you dreaming of fall too?

I am trying to contain myself, but I just may mosey up to the attic and roll down some roly poly pumpkins for fall  decorating soon!

As Always,

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Melisa

Thank you for the sweet visit.

  1. Hello, Howdy and Hi, for some silly reason I had you on my mind all day. Here's to you, sweet Melisa!!! Keeping my hands busy with my "toys" and such has been delightful and blissful. I'm a firm believer in keeping my hands busy - definitely a stress reliever. I don't see my stressful situation going away anytime soon so I'm working on beating it and moving past it. Today held a little bit of x-stitching and lots of applique prepping. Something has to give so I'm looking at all my interests and attempting to decide what needs to go. It has to be something that doesn't bring much joy - time will tell. I wish you a happy, happy Wednesday my sweet friend. Big Old Hugs just for you, DarleneJ

    1. Happy Happy Wednesday , dear Darlene. Aaw Well isn't that something! We are 2 peas in a pod. I had you on my mind too. I was working on binding for little quilts. You have me wanting to play all day at my sewing machine. Hee! Hee! Woo Hoo and good for you on keeping your feet to the fire and moving forward. I do believe staying busy takes ones mind off of the stress and can be healing in its own way. And if you have to set one of your hobbies aside for the one that brings you the most joy - well there is nothing wrong with that. You can always pick it back up when you get a hankering too. Miss Darlene you should see all of my projects sitting about. LOL- somewhat embarrassing, but I will get to them eventually. Hee! Hee! You have a wonderful afternoon. Big Hugs from a rainy holler! Yes, it rained today! Eeeeh

  2. Yes...I'm dreaming of autumn, Melisa!
It's been an incredibly hot summer in Spain, and the heat is exhausting me physically and mentally.
Next week I'm going back to work, and I hope autumn embraces us with its ochres, yellows, and freshness.
    Have a great Wednesday!!

I sure do wish I could send you some of the rain we had- it was a gully washer, but nice nonetheless. Enjoy the cool mornings and thank you for dropping by. Hugs.

Do you have any favorite casseroles that you like to make come Autumn, Sandi? I am always looking for recipe ideas. I harvested my butternut squash the other day . Hopefully , we will be enjoying cooler temps sooner rather than later. Have a blessed day. Warm Hugs.

It seems like the youngin's went back to school way too early . ( I remember when they would go back after Labor Day. ) We are still having pretty hot and muggy days here, but today we did have a thunderstorm which brought down the temps. a bit . Have a wonderful afternoon, Gretchen and thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.

  8. Your post is a refreshing reminder that summer is ending. I enjoy all the seasons and the seasonal decorating LOL. But, it has been an extremely hot summer and I am ready for cooler fall temperatures. Fall is my favorite season with the colorful leaves and harvest festivals with fall foods and crafts. I can hardly wait to decorate for Halloween 🎃 and fall. I have finished the house with the turkey on the roof and I am beginning the second of your Thanksgiving houses today - a difficult decision deciding which one to stitch next, since they are all so cute! Have a great day. Alicia

    1. Oh , Alicia I am so excited to hear that you have been stitching the Thanksgiving houses. That just warms my heart. Thank you so much for adding them to your fall stitching. And Woo Hoo on the finish! I hope you enjoyed it. I have a wee start on a new one for Thanksgiving, but not much to see yet though. LOL. It has been extremely hot here too. Normally, I like the hot weather, but when I cannot be outside- well I am just ready for it to cool down a bit. There is always so much excitement with the fall season - like you said baking, crafting and festivals. I love it too. I wish you a lovely day and enjoy your stitching time. Warm Hugs.

  12. good morning beautiful Melisa.
we've got a long way until fall here in California, but i got a really "cool" feeling looking at all your fall, leaf and pumpkin quilts/blocks. think cooler weather. i'm game. it's going to be a scorcher here from now on out. i think we have hot weather until mid-october. yikes!!! send me some cool weather Melisa, please!!!
how are you lovely lady? it's all good here. i am giving up on my tomato plants. the little rascals (whoever they may be - next year i'm installing a movement camera) are waiting until the tomato gets just a little red and then chomp! chomp! away it goes. i'm so sad. my cherokee purple has five new little tomatoes and i am watching them very closely. i am thinking about bringing the plant inside next to my bed so i can watch over it. ha
is it time for a Christmas tree? i am ready. i love the winter season and i love all the lights glowing softly on the tree. it is time - don't you think?
i am going to a quilting day with my quiltie peeps. so looking forward to it. the originator of the group named our get-together "peeps" i love it. i can't wait to see everyone. it has been a bit.
well Melisa i need to get moving so i can prepare the body for my outing. praying you have a lovely day and that you and the family stay safe.
blessings and love are coming your way Melisa. a great, big squeezy hug, too.

    1. Good Wednesday evening, sweet Debra. Oh I do hope you had a lovely time with the Quilting Peeps ( love that) I bet you came home filled with inspiration. Do y'all eat snacks and quilt the day away? I used to belong to a quilt group but alas it dissipated in 2021. Hmmm now what little rascal could be snatching those maters? I do hope you find out who is the culprit. How frustrating especially after all of the time and love you have put into them. I had something similar happen last year. We are now picking peppers and okra. Our tomatoes are on the down hill run , but it was nice while they were in. The clouds rolled in and brought us rain today. I sure wish I could send some of it to you so maybe it would cool things down just a tad. LOL now talking about Christmas will get me wanting to pull out the big Christmas tree, string up the lights and sing carols. Hee! Hee! Well I do admit that I have some little trees up already . I am going to decorate them for fall that way I can still get in those lights . Hee! Hee! Sounds like a plan doesn't it. You have a wonderful evening dear friend. Sending you warm love and blessings. Hugs.

I hope you will share a photo- you know me and my love for pumpkins! LOL. Hugs

  15. Oh Melisa I love your post and I love fall too. But at the same time I hope it will not came too soon because that means cold is coming and winters are so long here in Upstate NY! But other than that I look forward to the beautiful colors of the leaves, all the farms making delicious apple cider donuts, selling apples and pumpkins and all those lovely smells of spices and cinnamon of the season.

    1. Happy Wednesday, dear Diana. I bet fall in upstate NY is just delightful with all of the festivities , colors and such. I was just telling hubby the other day that I would love to visit an apple farm come Autumn. Maybe we will get to do that . I agree about not wanting the freezing and frigid temps especially when the winters are long and dreary. Sometimes I wish I could live where there was nice comfortable weather year round. LOL I hope you had a wonderful day and thank you for the sweet Wednesday visit. Hugs

Oh yes, but I am looking forward to the warm cooler, cool days and spending time outside with a quilt wrapped around my legs as I stitch away. It has been hot as the dickens here lately. I am thinking of making a runner with those strings. It is nice to get them out of the way rather than stashing them back like I usually do. Have a fabulous evening, sweet friend. Hugs.

  17. I looooooove fall most of all! 🥰🍁🍂 And I feel blessed to live in Maine where we get especially beautiful falls because over 90% of the state is trees. 🌳 I secretly put two pumpkins on our mantle on Monday but my hubby hasn't noticed them yet 😁 I usually don't decorate for fall until early September.
I love all your little quilts 😍 What are the temperatures like where you live? Here it went down to the 40s the past two nights. I'm so looking forward to fall!
Enjoy your day! Hugs from Maine,

    1. I bet Maine is magnificent come fall time. I can only imagine the display of colors the trees must put on. You would think with me living in the holler surrounded by trees that we would have a good display of fall color, but alas the heat makes the leaves fall like canon balls before they can even turn a pretty color. Well some turn brown and then hit then flutter to the ground. LOL. It has still been in the mid 90's here this week though it feels hotter. We did get some rain today which cooled things down . Nighttime temps have been in the 70's even after the rain. Oh well, I can dream of cooler weather. LOL. Thank you for the sweet visit, Alex. I hope you had a wonderful day. Warm hugs.
