We spent a couple of nights with the most spectacular view of the mountains just outside of Poncha Springs.

It was time to move eastward and soon we found our way back on the banks of the Arkansas River where we stayed a couple of days. It was a relaxing stay, and we often saw many rafters floating and paddling down the river.

" Time to head back to Maxwell, " said Mr. Pinker. So we trucked south and spent a night at our usual spot at the Maxwell National Wildlife Refuge. As the sun began to set, the skies opened up and hail pounded the camper. But the next morning the sun peeked out and we saw an antelope resting in the field.
From there we decided to make our way to the panhandle of Oklahoma.
Luckily it was not. Wheeww! We intently watched the tornado. Off in the distance, we could hear what I thought were emergency sirens though I am not sure. After about 15 minutes the tornado dissipated and we were on our way.
"This sure has been an exciting trip - weather wise." I said to Mr. Pinker.
"Yep, - heat, snow , sleet, hail and now a tornado, '" he replied. "What will we have next?", he sighed.
As we moved eastward, little bright flowers began to dance in my head. I was dreaming of my gardens back at home. I knew the flower and veggie gardens were in good hands with my daughter and son-in-law, but oh, how I wanted to play in the dirt.

Soon I pulled out some fabric and a chart that I had brought along and began to stitch.
Well, Sweeties. I have rambled long enough. Thank you so much for following along with me as we have been traversing the countryside. I will talk to ya' soon.
Another mini sampler with flowers would certainly, fill my heart with joy as I settled into camp.
This is Spring Wildflower Mini Sampler. It is a CHOOSE YOUR OWN color chart. The colors in the chart do not necessarily depict the colors that I will use. In fact , you can see that I have already started stitching one flower. I will share my colors when I finish this little sampler.

Another cute sampler! Scary seeing that tornado, glad it didn't come your way.
ReplyDeleteLove the scenery and wildlife, but not that tornado! Glad it decided another track and not towards you! Your little sampler is so cute, Melisa! Safe travel!
ReplyDeleteWow Melisa, that's a great photo of the tornado! Being a storm spotter, I long to see tornadoes! I have only seen one in my life, and it was rain wrapped and I didn't realize what it was, and you see one on your vacay! You were definitely in stormy country between New Mexico and Oklahoma - they've really been hit hard this summer.
ReplyDeleteBoy, the weather sure had been crazy, hasn't it? Amazing shot of the tornado - glad you kept safe. Love the sampler - another to put in the folder! Thank you. An amazing trip for both of you this time. Be safe. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of the tornado, but very relieved that it didn't head your way! Your new mini sampler is looking good, Melisa. Continued safe travels!
ReplyDeleteYou and Mr. P have had quite the adventures this year. From those strange guys parking next to you and all the weather events. I'm glad you are safe! It will be nice to see your pretty gardens again.
ReplyDeleteHoly smokes is right! That was quite the view of the tornado. I'm so glad it didn't come your way. How did you know I need a new mini sampler to stitch? Thanks for sharing it! Safe travels to you and Mr. P.

ReplyDeleteThat tornado photo is something else! I'm glad it didn't blow your way! I like your sampler and the colors that you are using.--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteIt has been a wet and wild spring. So glad you weren't any closer to the tornado. Hope the rest of your trip is much less exciting on the weather front.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sampler Melisa! I'm happy that I will be on vacation soon and I will have time to work on some of your designs.
ReplyDeleteKisses
Darling Sampler, thank you! Stay safe and enjoy your time travelling. Weather is really unpredictable, so be watchful but enjoy all the good! Sending you warm hugs from sunny, hot Arizona.
ReplyDeleteWhoah! Seeing a tornado in the distance had to be a bit terrifying. Been there, done that and don't need a repeat, thank you. Glad you two were safe. Sweet little sampler. The flowers look like a flower we, as children, called Bachelor Buttons. I can remember hunting and hunting for pink ones because they were so rare. Some really nice scenery shots and I always enjoy the flower close up pictures. You really have a talent.
