It's a wonderful windy Wednesday here in the holler and not a whole lot is going on , but I thought I would pop in and say hello anyway. ๐ค

Flurry & Flakes Quilt Top. |
I used a blue and white gingham fabric for the backing. |
Hot off the presses is an old UFO from the late 1990's- "Shine on Harvest Moon"!!! I finished the embroidery work on this wee quilt. I believe initially I was going to make it in the pillow; now however, I will quilt it for a wall hanging.
Happy Stitching and Quilting, ya'll
Melisa

A new sew along sounds great. Not that I need another project but oh well!! Let's do it . Can you tell me what size blocks we need and how many so I can be ready. If not I will just have to wait for November 2.Thank you.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so excited that you will be joining me, Joy! The finished embroidered block is 7 1/2 x 10 1/2" . I cut mine a little bigger and then trimmed it down. There will be 12 blocks. This is the same size blocks as the Frosty McChill blocks that I shared in 2021 just in case anyone wanted to use some of those snowmen too. I hope you like them; I am still coming up with ideas. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs.
DeleteI really like your alternate block with your snow-family!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much , Pat. It was such a fun quilt to work on . Have a blessed weekend. Hugs.
DeleteI think we're going to be making snowmen here in Colorado come the weekend, so I might as well stitch some, too. So glad to see you're finishing up the snow family just in time!
ReplyDeleteOh my, Diann. Snow already !!! Brrr. Stay warm and cozy ; I guess slow stitching weather is on the way. Hee! Hee! Have an awesome weekend. Hugs.
DeleteYour snowmen look right at home in that setting! Wahoo to you for getting more projects finished! --TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much, Terry. I finally have this quilt all bound. I can not wait to show it finished. Hugs and blessings.
DeleteI'm looking forward to some snow, not in the forecast here yet but hopefully we'll get a couple of good snowfalls this year. Have fun getting that binding down. That'll be another project done for you!
ReplyDeleteOh, Susie I am with you- I would love to see some snow, but if I am lucky to see any it will probably be in January or February. Thank you for the sweet visit and have a great weekend. Hugs.
DeleteLove that snow family! You did an beautiful job with the embroidery and quilting. I also love the pumpkin piece from the 1900's. It reminds me of my first embroidery project that I did with my grandson - I did the embroidery and he very very carefully colored in the bird and surrounding branches, etc. with crayons. I still have it. He was 3! He's 14 now!
ReplyDeleteAaah what a sweet and special project. I know you cherish that sweet embroidery project and the time you spent with your grandson. The youngin's grow up way too fast don't they? Thank you so much Donna for the kind words on my snowman quilt. It was a hoot to work on. Hugs.
DeleteI am looking forward to see your new snowmen designs. You are always busy, aren't you ? Enjoy your day !
ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much, Annelies. I am really excited to start a new embroidery project for the winter season. Lol I try to stay busy though I feel like I spin my wheels sometimes. Hee! Hee! Have a blessed day and a great weekend. Hugs.
DeleteYour snowman quilt looks fabulous and I love that pumpkin piece you are going to turn into a wall hanging. We had a slight breeze in the holler yesterday, but thankful it wasn't more as there is a wildfire burning near the Park. They do have it contained, but wind wouldn't be good.
ReplyDeleteOh my, a fire this time of the year can be frightening; it is so good to hear that they had it contained. Is it very dry in your neck of the woods, Robin? It has been awhile since we have had a rain. Thank you so much for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteI adore your embroidered snowmen! Although I won't be stitching along I'll be cheering from the cheap seats. That pumpkin sure is sweet. It will make a wonderful mini quilt. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

Aaah thank you so much, Jennifer. I sure so love having you cheering me along. It certainly keeps me motivated. I am excited to start a new embroidery project. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs.
DeleteA new embroidery job is always welcome, Melisa!!
ReplyDeletekisses
Aaah thank you so much , Isabel. I am so excited to begin a new embroidery project. I have always had a soft spot for snowmen. Lol. Have a lovely weekend. Hugs.
DeleteI would love to join the embroidery sal but I really need to finish up some existing projects. I'll enjoy following along and cheering from the sidelines. I'm sure it is going to be fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWell thank you so much, Jeanna. I sure will appreciate the sweet encouragement to keep me motivated. I completely understand on needing to finish projects. Goodness knows I do not need a new one, but I keep piling them on. Oh well, what's one more. Hee! Hee! Have a lovely weekend. Hugs.
DeleteSometimes projects just have to hit the right age before we are motivated to finish them up. Enjoy your slow stitching on both projects this week. Let's not talk about Christmas, I'm not even close to ready for that.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true, Kate. I pulled out this little pumpkin embroidery with just a few stitches needed to be completed and I wondered why I waited so long. Have an awesome weekend and Happy quilting.
DeleteOh Melisa I love your snowman quilt and your Christmas Tree I can’t imagine how beautiful your house is ♥️♥️
ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much, I am excited to finally have this quilt completed and ready for the holidays. Your kind compliment brought the biggest smile to my day. Big hugs!
DeleteThe Flake Family quilt is wonderful. My blocks are all stitched and ready to become a quilt but I haven't given that project a second thought. LOL Always, always love your blog posts - thank you for sharing, Melisa.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Darlene. Well your Flake family will tell you when they want to be finished. Hee! Hee! Mine took awhile before they told me it was time. Hope you are having a wonderful week and are getting in some quilting time. Hugs.
DeleteI LOVE those roly poly snowmen!
ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much, Jenny. I have a soft spot for snowmen. I guess because I rarely see snow. Lol. Have a lovely weekend. Hugs.
DeleteYour snowmen are always so cute! Who can resist? I'm going to add another little snowman to the family portrait of the Flake family and do this for my daughter and her family. They have 3 little "flakes". ๐ We had our first snow the other day. It didn't stick too much but I see this morning that there is some white looking stuff out there on the lawn! Oh, Boy! I agree, pinecones make great seasonal decorating accents. Now that we only have one big one in the back (use to have 3) the cone supply is a bit less. Now I have the ear worm Shine on Harvest Moon running through my head. Thanks, Melisa! LOL
ReplyDeleteAaah how sweet to make the Family Portrait for your daughter and how cute to add another flake. I have seen one where it was with Mrs. Flake and the kiddos. I love seeing them personalized. Gosh, snow already! I wish you could send some my way- I just love snow ( I guess cause I rarely see it- lol) Guess what I had to do today- turn on the air, but cooler weather is headed this way. Have a wonderful weekend, Ginny and thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteDo you ever add green horse apples (from bois d'arc tree) to your pine cones? Love it.
ReplyDeleteI have never thought about adding green horse apples to my pinecone display how clever. We call them hedge apples here. Our osage tree did not produce many this year. Usually I add them to my fall display though. I have already picked a couple . I am going to try to gather some for my winter outdoor display; thank you so much for the idea, Twlya and for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteWhat fun snowmen!! Since we don't get much snow, I really LOVE snowmen! LOL The pumpkin mini is cute too! It will make a great little wall hanging! A SAL sounds great. I will join in if I can, otherwise, will collect!! I'm a good collector! LOL Thanks for sharing on Monday Musings!
ReplyDeleteLol, Brenda , I guess that is why I love snowmen too. I do wish we would get some snow this year. Fingers crossed. Oh I am so excited ; I hope you do join in and it is always fun to collect; - I am sure you have already figured out I am good at that too. Hee! Hee! Hugs.
DeleteLove the snowmen/women and pumpkin. Thank you for linking up to Put your foot down.
ReplyDeleteAah you are so very kind, Denise . Thank you so much for the sweet visit . Have a wonderful blessed November.
