Today is the last day of the Sweet on You Blog Hop hosted by Joan at MooseStash Quilting. What a lovely hop it has been. 🍓❤🤗
Today we are going to hop out to the strawberry field. You may remember that our crop was cut to over half in size last year. Normally we have 1 1/2 to 2 acres of 3 different types of strawberries. The plants are certainly growing.
I am already dreaming of baskets of juicy sweet berries, but I will have to wait because our season does not start until late April.
Meanwhile, I have been enjoying embroidering some strawberries and 2 sweet pickers. May I introduce to you the Strawberry Pickers? Two little birdies that do enjoy their sweets . 🍓

DeleteIs it tomorrow yet? LOL I'll be here, ready! I have another friend who is doing Luv Ewe (and my granddaughter is doing it as her second embroidery block!) and its been so satisfying to watch her stitching improve and see her begin to have ideas for what she wants to stitch, what colors, etc. Thank you for helping her grow!

DeleteLooking at your basket of fresh berries in the midst of winter, made me remember the warm sweet smell of the berry field, and the buzzing of the insects around as we pick. Thanks so much for that. Your little berry pickers are very sweet. I have saves a pic of them for ideas later in the year. Thanks for these as well

DeleteI can almost taste those sweet berries! So your real plants are under plastic-is that for the winter protection?
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Vicki ; they are so delicious. My family sells fresh strawberries to the public. The plants are on plastic to keep in moisture when irrigating and less weeds. We plant them in September and they go dormant in the winter until warmer weather. If there is a cold snap in the spring .then we have to run sprinklers to ice them over to protect them from the cold weather. If all goes well we will have a field full of deliciousness. I so appreciate the sweet Thursday visit. Hugs.

Lol I did not know there were so many varieties of berries until my family started farming them 20 years ago and come to find out there is a difference in taste too. But they are all good.
