Hello, Sunshine!
Can I interest you in a little basket of blooms?
I have been stitching away on a little pink basket for a sweet girl that I never personally knew. Her name was Lois Ann.
Lois Ann was a beautiful girl with long flowing brown hair, bright eyes and the sweetest smile. How do I know? Well I have seen photos of her.
Actually, Lois Ann was my aunt, but she went to Heaven as a child way before my time.

Little Lois Ann was stricken with polio when she was just 3 years old and was paralyzed. Most of her time was spent in hospitals and in an iron lung. But from what I have been told, she was always full of cheer.
Little Lois Ann loved to sketch the most beautiful drawings . All one had to do was help her by putting a pencil in her mouth, and then she would create magical creations on paper. Bless her sweet heart.

Movie stars and singers from long ago would visit her. She was a special little girl and still is in our family's eyes.
I would like to think that little Lois Ann is skipping in Heaven, gathering flowers and putting them in her own little basket and drawing until her heart is content.

Did you know that most of my charts have some form of a "nod" to my family members? Sometimes I name a chart after a family member or I create a design based on a family story. When I am slow stitching , I like to think about my family , our history and such. It brings me peace and relaxation. Do you do the same?

From seeing her pictures, she always seemed to have a beautiful smile on her lovely face. I hope your day is a wonderful one. I did my grocery pickup and now I am ready to sit back , relax and sew. ReplyDeleteI made a cross stitch for my mom and dad based on a poem they loved so much. Unfortunately, after they passed, it was never returned. I pray that someone who finally got it is blessed by it. Blessings!
Aaw thank you so much, Donna. Lois Ann was a precious little girl in our family. Oh, I am so sorry to hear that, Miss Donna. Doesn't it make your heart sink a little ? I do hope that whoever has it has it in an honorable place. My grandma's best friend had one of my Great grandma's handmade quilts. She meant to give it back to my Nanny, but she passed away and the quilt was never returned. It has always made me sad and I wondered who got it. I am like you- I hope the new owner loves and cares for it . Have a beautiful day, sweet friend. Hugs.

ReplyDeletei just know little Lois Ann is skipping in heaven gathering lovely flowers and placing them in her flower basket. this is such an awesome post Melisa. it brought me happy tears. it sounds like this little lady had a wonderful life when she was present in it. thank you so much for the basket project. i love it. so cute. the flowers look so dainty. just perfect for Lois Ann.
how have you been Melisa? is the family doing better? i certainly hope so. i have been praying for them. my physical therapy is going great. i have little pangs of pain every now and then going down my leg, but for the most part i am doing very, very good. my PT is coming today around noon. better down some ibuprofen or stronger a half hour before her scheduled time. jennifer is my pt's name. she's such a cute, young lady. she is giving me exercises to get my knee moving. jennifer said my surgeon is going to be very impressed with my progress. that brought a great big smile to my face. i have jennifer to owe it all, too. if it wasn't for her i would be hobbling along like an old"er" lady. haha
well, did you get anything uprooted and replanted? i meant to get outside and prep my tomato pots prior to my surgery, but i just didn't find the time. in a few weeks i'll plant some tomato plants. we'll see if i get any tomatoes from the vine prior to the raccoon's having their way with them. little rascals.
i guess i better get to doing my exercises Melisa. i've been dilly-dallying long enough. i guess you can tell it's my way of putting off the agony. ugh!!! i may cry and complain about pt, but i am surely making progress. i'm proud of "me"! i am so so so very proud of you miss creativity.

Happy Happy Monday, dear Debra. Oh I am so happy to hear that you are doing so well . I say part of that is your positive and Happy attitude too- that sure goes a long way toward recovery. It sounds like you have a wonderful therapist. They usually "really know their stuff" don't they? Please keep me posted on how you are doing and of course, I am keeping you in my prayers. My family is doing pretty good. We will be staying close to home this year for their doctor's appointments and such but things are settling down for the meantime. I have lots of mater plants waiting in the greenhouse to be put in the garden and some pepper plants are making their debut. I will plant my cucumbers, zucchini and other veggies once the ground is all worked up. I am so glad to hear that you will be planting tomatoes again this year. Have you decided what variety? Oh goodness, do shoo those rascally racoons away from the plants . Hee! Hee! They can make havoc of a garden. Right? LOL You have a wonderful day, sweet friend and do take care. Warm love and hugs.

DeleteWhat an touching story about an amazing child! Polio was a horrible disease wasn't it. I had a beautiful cousin named Karen who had it. We "played" together, and I never even thought about why she was in a wheelchair. She didn't survive past young adulthood, so sad. Now that I'm older, I think about her parents and how devastated they must have been. :(
ReplyDeleteOh it was a terrible disease, Linda. It is so sad to hear that your family too lost someone to polio. I am sure you hold the memories of sweet Karen in your heart. Yes, I agree it is devastating to parents who lose a child. I know there is a hole in their heart forever. Thank you for taking the time to visit Linda.
