Early Fall on the Farm - Wordless Wednesday

Is it Wednesday already? Well it sure is! Happy Happy Hump Day , sweet friends.

I thought I would share more glimpses of the farm during the early fall in this Not So Wordless Wednesday post. It is a peaceful time of the year.  I hope you enjoy .

The livestock are grazing.

Goldenrod is still in bloom.

A salt block is in the barrel for the cows.

The barns are filled with hay for the winter season. This is Papa's old barn.

Pokeweed

Thank you for dropping by the farm for a visit. I wish you a wonderful day and ...

As always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Thank you for the sweet visit.

Of all of the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are of dirt.

Dedicated to my baby sister, Amy.  The farm is not the same without you. Love and miss you, Amo

  2. Loved the tour - thank you. We're at my daughter's home in FL. She has her chicken coop all set up - in fact - two of them - they had to move it because of all the rain. And all those eggs - wow - this "suburbanite" has never seen pastel eggs before! LOL! Have a blessed day!

    1. Oh gosh, Helen, I agree; there is no life like country life is there? I can just imagine how busy the dairy farm was. Aaw I am so glad you are able to enjoy your garden in the city. Lol I had to giggle at you being a country gal trapped in the city. You can take the girl out of the country but not the country out of the girl- right. Hee ! Hee! Thank you for the sweet visit.

  6. Thank you for the farm tour. I love animals, but only have chickens, but could spend hours watching those chickens tour the farm. Had our first killing frost last evening here in Southwest Wisconsin. I just finished stitching "Ye Ole Crow Saltbox House", is it ever beautiful
and now need to get it into a pillow. Thanks so much for your free stitches, love them.

    1. Aaah I am so grateful you stopped by for a visit. Oh I just love chickens. I bet your sweet chickens keep you entertained; I sure do miss mine. Gosh , cold weather is on its way ; isn't it? I have been pulling in my ferns at night , but we have not had our 1st frost yet. I am so happy and very honored that you stitched Ye Old Crow Saltbox. You brought a smile to my day. Have a wonderful week, Bonita and thank you . Hugs.

  7. I am so happy that I have caught up with all of your October posts, my favorite month(also, my birthday month, lol). Love all of the blissful scenes of the farm, so great! I have to tell you that your Fall Hutch tours were the best and I loved the Pumpkin Pie Hutch!! It does take me awhile to gaze at all of the shelves, but so worth the look!! I made the Pumpkin Roll and it was wonderful and my family really love it. Now, I am going to have to try some of the other suggestions that were given for Rolls---there goes the diet!!! Your Thrifty Quilts are adorable and what a great hubby to encourage you, lucky girl. Have a wonderful fall. Sending warm hugs from sunny Arizona.

    1. Eeeh your birthday month! I hope you have the most beautiful fun filled month, dear Mary. It is an exciting time of the year. I am so happy that you tried the pumpkin roll and that your family enjoyed it. I saw a recipe the other day which called for a lemon pudding type filling; it sounded interesting. Well I have changed out my hutch again. I can not wait to share my Halloween hutch here soon. Have a wonderful week, Mary. Hugs and Blessings.

  8. Lovely photos of the farm everything looks so peaceful, and the stock looks happy. That's a lovely old vintage barn from your father's time, still in use storing the hay.

    1. Oh thank you so much, Jenny . It is very quiet and peaceful here which is so nice. I wish you could have seen the big red barn of my Papa's . Sadly it came in disrepair and was torn down a few years ago, but it was a fabulous barn where we stored tobacco and hay. Have a great week and thank you again for the sweet visit. Hugs.

Do you pick and eat the pokeweed? I remember my momma cooking it and then she would add eggs to it in a skillet. Served it with hot sauce.

    1. Aaah Twyla, you are the sweetest. You brought a big smile to my day. I have never ate pokeweed before, but Granny used to prepare it and I guess mom didn't like it so she never cooked it for us as children. Lol. But there are a lot of people around here that do it eat. We have had people stop by the farm to see if they could pick it when they see it along the fence rows. Must be yummy. Thank you for the sweet visit. Have a wonderful week. Hugs
