Watermelon Stamp- A Summer Freebie

Well good morning, dear friends. Today is going to be a very busy,  but so much fun. I have been invited to the a neighboring county fair to judge quilts.

I have been doing this for about 10 years. I was not sure if the fair would take place this year. But Woo Hoo! it is. There is always so many fabulous quilts,  and I always come back pumped up and ready to quilt! ๐Ÿงต

Some of the fair exhibits are in an old school building. As soon as I enter the hallway I know I will be greeted with tables upon tables of fruits and vegetables  . Judges will be busy buzzing about determining which  entries are the prize winners.  Oh, what a hard task. Well with that in mind -  I thought I would share my Watermelon Stamp  especially since I am sure I will see some big juicy ones at the fair. ๐Ÿ‰๐ŸŽก

Do  you think mine is a prize winner? lol. Well, all that matters is that a watermelon tastes good- isn't that right?

I stitched this little design last year . It is a small with a design size of 35 x 35. I stitched mine on   - you guessed it-   my usual 14 count tea / coffee dyed aida.

I finished this little stitch on a piece of batting wrapped foam board on a little Dollar Tree chalkboard plaque. I just love those thrifty quick finishes.

I will soon be off to marvel at the quilts .  If I am able, I will try to get some photos to share as well. I hope you have a wonderful day . Big hugs and many blessings and as always...

Happy stitching and quilting, ya'll,

Melisa

There is something that feels all American about a county fair.

Hugs and Stitches!!

  5. And a Judge of Quilts, Lady of Marvelous Skills! I love watermelon, next to grapes, any kind of grapes (even the smashed variety!!!), I love this time of the year, sweet watermelon days. Cute little stitch, thank you. Have a wonderful time at the Fair. The Phoenix Quilt, Craft & Sewing Festival is going to be held this year, Sept 2-4, woo hoo. Think I will try and brave the crowds, I have been very reluctant to be in crowds--old, you know! Hugs being sent to you.

    1. Happy Tuesday, Mary. You are the sweetest and always make me smile. Oh I am a grape lover too. In fact this time of year we usually get the big purple seedless in the stores in my area. I do need to check to see if they are in. A trip to the fair does sound delightful. Oh hope you decide to go but I do understand crowds. Today there were only the judges at the fair building so I got a one on one tour of the quilts. Lol. I do not know if our county is going to have a fair this year. It all depends on the carnival. Have a fabulous evening my dear and big hugs.

  6. Oh, your day at the fair sounds like it will be such fun, Melisa! I haven't been to a county fair since I was in high school--almost 50 years ago! We don't have them in my county, sadly. Your little watermelon design is darling--definitely award worthy :) Have fun judging those pretty quilts! ♥

    1. Aah thank you so much, Carol. It was a great day at the fair; of course only the judges were there but I got to see the fruits/ veggies, paintings, photographs and the quilts. I did not get to see the cross stitching though. It was in another room being judged. I am not sure if our county will have one or not. It is always nice to see a good fair with a lot of participation in the exhibits though. Have a great week and happy stitching.
