Put on your farm boots and grab your hat.👢👢 🤠 We are headed to the farm! It is a scorcher out there so I will bring a water for us all.
First stop the Bee Yard.🐝🐝🐝
My little honey makers are busy, busy , busy.
They do make me happy.
I think the corn crib would be the perfect spot to view my latest thrifty find.
I bought this the other day at a thrift store in the great state of Alabama. 😀

It is a simple but absolutely delightful vintage nine patch . Isn't it darling?
Excuse me a moment while I try to rustle up Rodster and some of the heifers. Maybe they would like to take a gander. If you are so inclined, you can help me call them. Just go to the truck and blow the horn and they will soon appear. Easy Peasy. Beep! Beep!
There's Rodster. Hi there , big fella.
And sweet Bev is not too far behind.
Oh , bother. Where 's Edna? We cannot go on without her. There she is ! That stinker is giving me "no never mind". Oh well the show must go on!
The quilt is hand quilted.
Look at the pretty umbrella fabric.
Oh my, I bored these little fellas to death. They are going to take a snooze.

Anywhoo , a pretty turquoise fabric was used for the binding ; each corner is curved. How pretty.
The backing is pieced . Look at all of that gorgeous hand quilting.
So what do you think? Was it a fabulous buy?
Wheew! It's getting hot out here! How about we gather up the quilt and head back to the house. We can then get a big glass of sweet iced tea, sit back on the porch and stitch for awhile. You did bring your stitching along with you didn't you? Thank you so much for keeping me company. You always brighten my day. 🤗🌞
As Always,
Happy Stitching and Quilting, y'all
Melisa
Thank you for the sweet visit.

ReplyDeleteIt really is a beautiful quilt, Melisa!!
ReplyDeleteI loved its vibrant colors.
And you know I really enjoy walks on the farm!!
Kisses from Spain
Oh how I loved the trip to the farm! Being a former farm kid, it brings back memories. (We weren't allowed to walk in the pasture where the bull was without a baseball bat. We neer used it or seen it used, but it is etched in my mind.) Rodster is so handsome.
ReplyDeleteThat 9-patch is definitely a beauty.
Most definitely a fabulous find!!! Love to all the farm critters….especially sassy Edna 😀
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous quilt find you scored, Melisa! Thanks for the walk around the farm and the offering of water and tea. I very rarely go anywhere without my stitching. Happy Thursday!
ReplyDeleteThat was one great find! Nine patch quilts are a favorite of mine!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteHow could anyone give up that beautiful quilt? Well I'm glad it is in your hands where it will be cherished. Love the views of your farm and your critters!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your quilt find is in very good condition.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found that beautiful quilt Melisa. It’s so good it’s gone to a stitcher who appreciates the work that went into it. Lovely walk around the farm. I always take my stitching with me whenever I go out. ☺️🙋♀️👋🤗😘xx Barbara @flashinscissors 👋xx
ReplyDeleteWow Melisa, what a great find! You always find beautiful treasures!
ReplyDeleteHugs
What a treasure, Melisa! And you found it in my state!! That was a great find. The quilt and the quilting are gorgeous. I love a 9-patch!! Have a wonderful holiday weekend, my friend. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteyou always brighten my day sweet Melisa. you are such a happy person with a beautiful soul.
ReplyDeletei hope you find some relief soon from the heat. it's hot here in California and getting hotter by the day. my son and daughter live in Arizona (different parts) and it's 112 and 118, respectively. poor kids. i thought 90 was hot, but it's getting hotter. i'm a 73 degree kinda girl. i keep my air conditioner at 73 as well. i don't do good with heat. it's very hard on me. i get limp like a noodle.
well i'm afraid the worms have taken over the body of my cherokee purple. i read that it's best to check for worms at dusk. i can't find the little stinkers, but i know they are there because i have less leaves almost every morning. at least i got about 8 "deformed" tomatoes from the plant and they were absolutely delicious. nice and juicy. why is it that people can have tomato plants and have an abundance of tomatoes. me - not happening. same with rabbits - people can have babies upon babies. me - i had a mom and dad rabbit - did they have babies - nope - nada - none!!! i guess that's the way the tomato/rabbit baby crumbles.
thank you so much for your blog posts, quilt patterns, cross stitch patterns, and just for being you. you are such a joy every day for me. thank you Melisa.
i hope you have a wonderful Thursday. if i don't hear from you tomorrow (i know you are going to be super busy with family) have a safe and glorious July 4th.
blessings and love are coming your way Melisa. hugs, too.

I loved the trip to the pasture for the photo shoot of your lovely Alabama thrifty quilt. Aren't 4-patches the most useful of blocks to work with and use up fun scraps??!! I'll bring my stitching next time and join you for a glass of tea! Hee! Hee!
ReplyDeleteAnother sweet post and what a beautiful quilt! I so enjoy your posts! Your blog is my first read everyday, simply because you make me feel cozy and happy! Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteRodster truly is a handsome dude. Oh, those ladies, Edna and Bev are lovely but need bonnets. LOL
ReplyDeleteThat nine patch is beautiful, Melisa. I'm so glad you found and purchased it. I would have skipped all the way home. Yes, this old lady can still skip! LOL
Have a wonderful Thursday and please take time to thread your needle a couple of times today. Big Hugs, DarleneJ
My goodness, what a divine treasure that quilt is. Such a shame no name or date was put on it. It is really beautiful Melisa and I am so jealous. I am actually working on a 9 patch right now but my fabric choices do not give it the vintage splash this one made! Happy 4th to you and the family again (nwpaintedlady)
