Wordless Wednesday - Joseph H. Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve

Happy , Happy Wednesday! I hope your  week has been a lovely one thus far. I thought I would post a "Not So Wordless Wednesday " post. It is like a "Wordless Wednesday post but with a few words. Hee! Hee!

One of our last destinations when camping was Pawhuska, OK. We always enjoy visiting the Joseph H. Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve. There you will find one of the largest bison herds here in the U.S.  and the largest protected tallgrass prairie in the world. I hope you enjoy these few snapshots.

There are over 2000 bison here at the preserve.

He is handsome.

    1. Aren't the babies the cutest? We saw 100's of buffalo and the little ones were something else. LOL. I do believe the males are called bulls. I like looking at them. It was a good day for wildlife. Thank you for the sweet visit, Robin. Have a lovely afternoon. Hugs.

  4. Lovely photos Melisa. You were in our old stomping grounds - Oklahoma. We grew up south of Tulsa, and Bartlesville (east of Pawhuska) was the first town we lived in after we got married. And you were in Pioneer Woman country - lol! Strangely enough, we have never visited the Tall Grass area, so that is on our bucket list.

    1. Oh wow, Linda. How fun? We love this area. We come to it quite often. Oh yes, we went to the Pioneer Woman Mercantile- just to look. We also walked up and down the street, but the highlight was the Tall Grass Prairie. I hope you are able to go visit it in the near future. We loved seeing all of the buffalo and it was a lovely drive as well. Thank you for the sweet Wednesday visit. Hugs.

    1. Hi Chari. Well I didn't know you were from OK. How wonderful. We love it there. We did go to the Pioneer Woman Mercantile. We usually go there just to see what's new when we pass through. It wasn't as crowded as the last time we were there but they had lots of pretties to admire. There was a great little antique shop down the street as well. Thank you for the sweet Wednesday visit. Warm Hugs

  9. Great photos of the buffalo. I hope you were using a zoom lens. Those puppies can be so easily spooked and a bit dangerous. Those babies are sweeties, too. Love the shots of inside the bunkhouse. Great kitchen! I miss the bison meat we bartered with the neighbor when I lived on the farm. Yum! Thank you for the correction.
