A Lovely Day in the Holler

Today is a perfectly pretty day!

A new pot of flowers found on clearance at Wally World.

The flowers are blooming.

The bees are buzzing.

And there are new additions to the farm.

Oreo and Double Stuff are 2 proud Mamas.

Good afternoon, sweet friends and how are you? I hope you are doing well and enjoying these late spring days.

My wild and woolly garden is coming along. Soon it will be in full bloom with lilies , marigolds and zinnias.

The Annabelle hydrangea bush is putting on blooms . What a delight it will be to see it in bloom for the 1st time come later this summer.

Where have I been you ask? Well visiting family and spending many hours late into the evening playing in dirt. I have 100's of marigolds to plant, seedlings to start and still more to go.

Marigolds waiting to be transplanted.

The evenings have been spent with grandchildren and late night stitching though it seems I have little to show for my efforts.
Otis Payne's Bow time is coming along. I am over 1/2 done. Will I finish it by the end of summer? Hmmm, I am not sure, but I hope so.

The old camper will be loaded tonight and soon we will be making our way here and there- wherever the wind takes us.

A precious gift from sweet PJ.

Well, I have rambled long enough. I do hope to check back in before we hit the dusty trail. Have a beautiful and blessed day. And don't forget to do something special for yourself today. You deserve it. Love ya'!

 As Always,

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Melisa

Thank you for the sweet visit.

    1. Aww it just warms my heart good to be missed, dear Debra. I hope you have been doing well these last couple of weeks. I have been on adventures close to home these last few days, but now we are about to set out again for a longer trip. I have my fingers crossed that we will have good weather. It has been very rainy here these last few weeks and more rain is in the forecast. I hope you are enjoying some nice weather though. I wish you a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of May isn't? Love and Hugs.

  2. Such pretty flowers, Melisa! I love marigolds - some are coming up in my garden, too, from seeds that I planted, and I'm looking forward to those blooms. Have a great time in the camper! I'll look forward to seeing your photos when you get back.

    1. I think marigolds are one of my favorites in respect to flowers along with zinnias. Those are 2 flowers that I can grow with some success here in the holler-. Thank you for the sweet visit and have a wonderful weekend. Hugs.

  3. It's good to hear from you, your flower garden is going to be beautiful. My hydrangeas are loaded with blooms. Some years they don't produce any. Last year was one flower! Cute kittens! I have a tuxedo cat, I think they are so pretty. Have fun on your trip.

    1. Hi Janet. I cannot tell you how excited I am that the hydrangea bush has blooms on it. I have always wanted a hydrangea and was not sure how well it would grow in our poor soil, but it came back . LOL. I will have to remember that sometimes they will not bloom. I did not know that. This is Oreo's and Double Stuff's first set of kittens. They are good mamas. I look forward to watching the kittens grow. Have a fabulous weekend and thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.

  4. Oh Melisa, I am totally jealous! Planning on a trip hither and yon!! Enjoy each and every day, keep in touch if you can. Or let us know when you get back to civilization with internet, lol!!! Your flower garden is going to be wonderful, I use marigolds to border my garden, they are such happy little flowers. School is out here in Arizona, so the kids are having a ball being free, but it is starting to get very warm, triple digits are here!! Sending you warm hugs from sunny Arizona.

  5. Good to see you back, if only for a short time before you go traipsing around! ;-) All those marigolds - I'll bet those are going around your veggie garden. That's what we used to do and it worked out well. Your garden is going to be beautiful! I have one - yes - one tomato plant growing :-) That's my garden. lol. I've planted some seeds and flowers but alas all this rain has taken its toll on them and there's very little to show for it. Have a wonderful time traveling! Blessings!

    1. Oh thank you so much, Donna. Having been busy these last few weeks, I am certainly looking forward on going out on a new adventure. Yep, I am putting some of the marigolds with the tomatoes here at the house. I also planted a wildflower garden at my sister's .I am looking forward to seeing what comes up. The rain has done a number on some of my plants too. Have you started to get tomatoes yet? I have a couple of green maters in the making and a pepper or two. Have a fabulous weekend. Hugs.

  7. Glad to hear you have just been busy and nothing serious happening. Your gardens are looking pretty happy. I would love my hydrangea to look as good as yours. Maybe, some day. Mine isn't near as big as yours. I have many flowers blooming and loving all the color. Almost all of the garden is planted. Having to plant in between rain showers. I hope you have safe travels coming and a good fishing hole for Mr. P.

    1. Time seemed to get away from me these last couple of weeks. I think we got all of our veggies in - well at least for now. I am tickled pink how my hydrangea is looking ; this will be its 2nd year in the ground. I accidently covered one of the limbs with mulch and that limb took root. So I dug it up and now have a 2nd bush growing. I have my fingers crossed it will survive the summer. Thank you for the sweet visit and I hope you have the most delightful weekend. Hugs.

  11. Your flowers look fabulous. Your mention of marigolds brought back memories. I remember marigold seed packages attached to the Frito bags growing up, planting the seeds in coffee cans and then Gram replanting them around her birdbath. I hope your next adventures with the camper are delightful, Melisa.

    1. Aww what a sweet memory, Robin. I sure do wish Frito bags had seed packages attached to them now. I bet your Gram's birdbath was just delightful with all of the marigolds planted around it. Hmmm, I just may have to do the same. I bought a new birdbath the other day. Thank you for bringing a warm smile to my day, Robin. Hugs.

  13. Hello and Howdy dear Melisa, So nice to 'see' you. Enjoy your new adventure with your mister - stay safe and don't forget to make time to thread your needle. Life has been a bit hectic and stressful around here but nothing that can't be handled. Although I do prefer my quiet days. LOL I've managed to stitch some Melisa inspired stamps and hope to sew and stitch the week end away. Big Hugs, DarleneJ

    1. Howdy do, dear Darlene. Oh, I am so glad that you have been able to stitch a little. It does comfort the soul especially when times are stressful. Though I know sometimes it is hard to find the time isn't it? I am hoping to stitch a little bit on the trip. I feel like I have fallen behind myself on that. I wish you a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Squeeze in some sewing time. Big hugs from the holler

  18. Wonderful to hear from you, I was beginning to worry. So happy to read your days were filled with family and making memories. And now off on another adventure! Yay ~ 2 precious litters of kitties of soft purrrfect adorableness, hard to beat that. I enjoyed that walk thru the gardening loving the quilting project. I am working on preserving a quilt and need to get a new one started. The bow tie pattern is a contender although I am partial to a pinwheel and I love a good ol' 9 patch :) Happy trials to you and Mr. P (nwpaintedlady)
